The Press Club

★★★☆☆
This scruffy downtown music venue, with an extra helping of "downtown," presents an incredibly diverse array of sounds.

Had a great evening here. The music was good & not too slow, the bar service was acceptable & the bathrooms were clean. It wasn't too crowded but still felt cozy.

the first time I got here I thought I had been transplanted back to my favorite fraternity house. Adult swim was on tv and people were walking around with cans of beer. I have honestly only been here about 4 times, but certain things seem to be consistent:

1. "Dancing Queen" will come on and I will know and sing the words.
2. The line for the women's bathroom is extremely long and then about 2-3 girls think its silly and cute to go into the guys' bathroom only to find out that its equally as nasty and not worth it.
3. People making out on the back couches failing to realize that those are probably the nastiest couches ever.
4. I am always over dressed, which I am used to by now when I go out to bars. But if you want a real jeans and sneaks type place (for girls) then this is your spot, come on though, humor me with some cute flats at least.
5. Its hot and stuffy due to the excessive bumpin and grinding on the dance floor.

Despite these observations, Press Club still gets props from me figuring they let you in and out of the place, which is good since its so stuffy in there, and also because they have a completely separate area where you can stand around in front of the bar and chill. Dancing at bars just doesn't seem right to me. Most recently discovered that it is within walking distance to Whiskey Wild which is not too shabby. And last but not least, there's a bartender there that is super nice and hooks our group up!

Will never ever be my idea to come here, but once you get the hang of it and come with a fun group, it has the potential to be an ok night.
