Originality is our trademark. Sample any dish from our extensive Mediterranean-style menu and you will know why Cravings has proudly served Los Angeles for more than 20 years. In the day, the cafe provides a relaxed city-chic atmosphere. At night, the ambience turns romantic with warm lighting, linen tablecloths and impeccable service. Or, for those who want to see and be seen, sidewalk seating is great for a night out with friends. All this and great food too! Chef-owner Ibrahim Oztok incorporates authentic recipes from his native Istanbul with specialties from Italy, Greece and, yes, the Mediterranean of the U.S. - California. To complete the entire dining experience, Emrah Ergenc, general manager and wine director, has assembled an eclectic list of wines from all over the world, including Greece and Turkey. Whatever your Cravings, we promise to satisfy them.

In Short
Straddled between shops like Badgley Mischka and Roberto Cavalli on the shopping and people-watching mecca known as Sunset Plaza, this bright cafe with a big red awning and tall potted trees is where European émigrés and celeb-seeking tourists leisurely lunch under canary-colored umbrellas. The Mediterranean menu offers favorites like sesame-crusted chicken salad, steamed mussels in white wine broth, feta-covered stuffed eggplant and Hunter's pie, a pastry filled with ground beef, spinach and onions. Turkish-style flattened steak with spicy salsa is a dinner favorite, as is crab ravioli in lobster cream. Dessert options vary on occasion--just ask for the tray to get an eyeful of the sweets available.

Key Points

  • Patio Dining
  • Extensive Wine List
  • Private Room Holds 30 People

The Inside Scoop

  1. When to Go - Late breakfast--eggs, omelettes, and lox, bagel and cream cheese sandwiches--is served every day until 5pm.
  2. Save Money - A gift certificate good for $25 off the food portion of a dinnertime meal is just $10 when purchased in advance.

Cravings is good food

by Jeanne D.

All and all I usually like coming here as long as its not too packed. Really good selection since they are good at what they make. I don't think its overly pricey and so I think the place really does a good job all around.

out of this world!

by Natalie L. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 255

Not even that expensive- like $30 for a full dinner. Now we can talk about the food! It's amazing! I've had the chicken curry dish and it is wonderful! I litteraly am craving it now while writing this review. They have a great selection of deserts but we were headed to a play after so we didn't have time to indulge.

Always Great!

by JAG099

Greek Salad and Crab Ravioli... my fav! The best part is that you get to bring your own wine and enjoy the views of sunset while you sit back and relax. Its a great place for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I have daily Cravings for Cravings!

by LewMarklin

I used to drive all the way from Santa Barbara, and make it a point to go out of my way, from wherever I was at in the city, to have Lunch or dinner at Cravings. Now that I am in the neighborhood, it's just a hop and a skip away. I love this neatly tucked away spot on Sunset. The food is great, the atmosphere is perfect for a casual lunch or a semi formal dinner. I love the little breezeway seating, indoors seating if you like it. Here's how they got me though. Are you ready? The Artichoke!! I love to trounce around the city trying everyones artichokes. I will just say, plain out, it's the best Artichoke around. Love the Lasagna. Traditional and perfect. The service is friendly and lively. They were good enough sports to let me conduct TV interviews on their back patio. I even point my celebs to this spot! Cheers!

Pros: Service, location, food

Cons: not suited for parties over 6 probably.

we both scraped our plates!

by SarahFromNYC

I'm visiting form nyc so my friend & I have been trying to eat at as many places as possible. This was probably the best so far. I ordered the seared tuna with pesto, I like it on the rare side & it was cooked perfectly I almost didn't need a knife. The fish was not chewy or tough & it was very fresh. My friend had the stuffed chicken which was also amazing. Needless to say there was nothing left on our plates we even ate our veggies =). The portions were perfect & the pricing was good, the check for both dinners & a bottle of wine was only $80. We will be dinning here again I heard the crab ravioli is to die for, that will be my next try.

Will never, ever visit this restaurant.

by zenmonkey

I must qualify this review by saying that I have never been here in person, but I received delivery from Labite. However my issues are with the food itself so I think it's still fair. I ordered the crab ravioli and was disgusted. Lumps of pasta stuffed with canned crab with tons of cartilage and no cheese or seasoning of any kind. I ate two and simply couldn't eat the rest. Their "tiramisu cheesecake" is a wholly unremarkable cheesecake with nothing at all to distinguish it as "tiramisu" without the name. It tasted store-bought rather than freshly made. I enjoyed the tapenade that came with the bread rolls, but one roll was so stale it was literally impossible to eat.

While I understand that restaurants don't always produce their best work for delivery orders, I'm amazed that they flout their crab ravioli as a "favorite." It was literally the worst I've ever had. I'm glad I found this out through delivery before deciding to try it out in person.

Best New york Steak

by mrod1125

This is my first time writting a review for a restaurant , but since my visit at Cravings Restaurant i felt the obligation of sharing my awesome experience with everyone, and let everyone know how delicious their New York Steak with Chipotle butter is. My first visit was mothers day, and i was there with 3 other guest we all order diffrent entrees to try a little bit of everything. I had the New york Steak with Chipotle butter.OMG !!!! it was amazing they Served the warm steak and add a compound chipotle butter that melts on top of your steak delicious !! And not to mention the Desserts they have a housemade cheesecake that is to die for and the Tiramisu you got to try it !! Their customer service is an extra great topping to the their amazing food.Im a culinary art student so i know all the basics to cooking right and this place earns an "A" for their knowlegde on cooking the perfect dinner (steak). The simplicity and combination of flavors used in their dishes is very satisfiying it leaves you craving for more.

Location, Location, Location!

by boymeetswestcoast

Cravings has great food and an amazing location right on Sunset Blvd. Sidewalk dining is popular in this area and all over LA. Once the stores on the blvd. close the restaurants extend tables on both sides in front of the stores for more dining on the patio. The food was very good. Our waiter was good, not great. The hostess was very friendly though. I would definitely recommend anyone to eat here. I saw Raven Symone a couple days before I ate here nearby at a small boutique. The hostess told me that Kanye West ate there not too long ago too! A great place to eat and soak in LA!

Good food, quiet

by foodie114

The food is good here, but not great. If you sit inside and away from the street it's actually pretty quiet. I went here for desert recently though, and the waiter took 20 minutes from the time he picked up our check to the time he returned it to us...and it wasn't even that busy.

Pros: Quiet

Left much to be desired

by Tessa07

After reading all of the great reviews, we figured this would be the next restaurant to try. Unfortunately, it did little to live up to our expectations. Perhaps we had a new server, or perhaps something was just off. Regardless, our server did not even visit our table until we had ample time to select our drinks, appetizers, and entrees - we felt completely neglected. When ordering the seared tuna, I was asked how I wanted it prepared. As I had ordered SEARED tuna, I asked for it to be seared. The server proceeded to ask if I wanted it rare, medium rare, etc. Not wanting her to mess up my food, I kindly responded that medium-rare would be fine, but thinking to myself that as a server, she should be well-versed on the meaning of seared. Not to mention that the mashed potatoes were cold. Go if you must, but if you have another option, eat there first.

So impressed!

by kk8379

I have been driving by for years, and I finally went to Cravings this weekend, and I have to say , I loved it! Everything was so fresh, and every dish had so much flavor. And I loved that my sandwich came with cucumber and tomato salad (the best!) instead of standard boring, greasy fries.
The service was good, too.
Cravings is on the top of my list.

Pros: Food, service, parking, outdoor patio

Cons: none

Classy little eatery.

by abd1350

I went here for lunch recently and really enjoyed myself. They have small plates, almost like tapas, that are the perfect amount for lunch. I had the vegetables and the eggplant, and both were lovely. The only qualm I had was the amount of time it took for our food to arrive...I didn't feel it ought to have taken as long as it did. However, it's great to sit outside and people watch on Sunset and I am sure it's nice inside to watch the sunset! :) I'd definitely go back.

Pros: Food, Ambiance

Cons: Service, Parking

Amazing staff and ambiance

Hosted our monthly dinner club there with 10 girls. The staff was amazing and they are really flexible with the menu in terms of substitutions. Highly reccommend this place for group, romantic dinner or casual dining.

You can do better

by marpop

I've eaten here a handful of times and every time it's not fabulous. After hearing how great the sesame seed chicken salad was i tried it and while it wasnt horrible, it wasnt worth writing home about. The outdoor patio area is nice, but be prepared for lots of flies hovering around your plates - gross!! Actually, the last time I ate there we had the steamed mussels in some broth and that was really good. So yeh, it's sort of hit-and-miss here, but more miss. The only reason I've come back so often is because I get invited.. i wouldn't recommend it here.

Pros: Mussels in broth

Cons: Flies at your table

Upscale or just plain average?

by jericsmall

Cravings in the Sunset Plaza area of the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood leaves me craving something. Unfortunately it's not their food. I'm not saying it's bad, please don't get me wrong, but for the price and the location, I'd expected something great. Instead, I got standard italian food. People watching adds to the meal, but never makes up for it. Overall, unimpressed.

nice Sunset dining

by juju13es

My boss and I decided to come here for our last lunch together... One thing I have to say is their complementary focaccia bread is quite delicious, and I think we would have just filled ourselves with it if our main dish didn't come. We both ordered the linguini with clams... I love both clams and garlic, so it couldn't really go wrong. And we dined in the front patio, so it's pretty nice eating while people-watching (or car-watching) on Sunset Blvd.

Pros: focaccia bread!, patio dining

Awesome atmosphere

by shells44

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed this place. The outdoor patio had a relaxing Mediterranean feel and the food was great. We tried their new small plate menu, the Kofte meatballs were delicious and we especially liked the feta & watermelon salad. This place is pefect for having a drink and people watching on Sunset. The best part of all was the service. Our waiter was very attentive and made suggestions we appreciated-- It was a refreshing change to get friendly service in LA. Definitely recommended!

Try the lemon arugula salad...

by flipflapjack

Another LA staple for whenever I'm in town. While I'm not as familiar with many restaurants on Sunset, this one has brought me back several times in the last year. The lemon arugula salad with shaved parmaesan reggiano is the main reason. This might be the best salad I've ever tried. I also recommend their friend chicken with honey pecan glaze. Not what you might expect, but it is very, very good! The smoking can be a pain to deal with, but deal with it up for an hour and enjoy the food and ambience.

Pros: Food, drinks, ambience, service, proximity

Cons: parking

Great Atmosphere, Great Food

by stu_pedaso

I enjoy this restaurant a lot. I love the black peppercorn steak and the homemade chicken soup. The service is prompt and personable. I do have a problem with the smoking being asthmatic, but the restaurant does not pretend to be smoke free. Also there is a large outdoor seating area with many places to sit where there is no smoking. I like coming here with family and it's one of those LA experiences that I would bring out of town guests to. The street scene is entertainment in itself.

Pros: Food, Street Scene, Service

Cons: Smoking

good/avg pasta

by skyeye519

i ate here on a weekday lunch. the pretty hostess was talking to the bartendar, and took me 10 min to be seated when they were nearly empty. (at 12 noon) felt like leaving at that moment. my waiter was prompted and better trained. the pasta was good, but nothing inspiring. will I return? maybe. but there are two great cafe across the street, so depends on if I want to cross the street or not.

Pros: pasta was good

Cons: hostess not doing her job when it's not busy

a great place to eat lunch at a great location- right on sunset! the service is very accomodating and friendly, and the ambience is just right for a nice meal. the spicy calamari ceasar salad with feta and sundried tomatoes is to die for!

I rather make this at home, then eating here.

by tangpower

Do not be fool by its looks. Craving has a very romantic and private vibe, but the cost of the food is over priced. I order one eggplant proscuitto for $9 and i get tiny 2 inch size eggplant roll ups; four bites and its gone. caprese appetizer, $12, just 6 tomatoe slices with cheese. tiny side portions with average dishes. my baby lamb, 6 bite size lamb rack with french fries and 1 whole tomatoe for $25. the restaurant do carry a great vibe, but the food doesn't seem to fit the cost. a great hang out, if only the cost was a little lower.

Pros: ambience, service

Cons: OVERLY priced, very simple menu

Always love it...

by kcurtisprod

I visit 12 times a year and this has become a staple for me. I've seen the best restaurants have an off night before, so take the people who don't enjoy their experience here with a grain of salt. Great food, great wine list, great people, no downside...
I'm back in town and I can't think of anywhere else that I can go at the last second on a Friday night that will satisfy me. Maybe we should keep it more of a secret.

Pros: Service, Food, Reservations

Cons: ???

Great service

by fashionusa

I being there a couple of times. The staff is very friendly and the food is great. I really have no complains. Note: Within March '06 they are renovating the back, so it would not be the greatest place to bring your "first date" during the day. At night, they have candles, heatears, etc. good wine too.

Pros: service, food, attitud

Ok Restaurant, Go tourists!!!

by patata0680

The place is ok, the food is good..nothing extraordinary though..They attract many tourists which is great because tourists bring money and make the place more lively...the fact that they allow smoking is ok for me even if I'm not a smoker because it makes this place have a more European feeling to it which means..freedom to do what you like!!!Go there for brunch or desserts!

Pros: ambience, desserts

Cons: parking

cigarette smoke from ghetto tourists

by netchris

The food is good and reasonably priced, decent wine list, but 90% of seating is outdoor, along sidewalk on Sunset blvd. They allow smoking. We sat next to a couple and thier smoke kept blowing in our faces. We kindly asked if they would stop, but they refused and wanted to debate smokers rights. I told them it was really rude, that this was a restaurant and people pay a lot of money to enjoy thier food. Next time i'll leave without paying. If the management wants a nightclub they should open one. Many other choices on the Sunset strip have better ambiance and food.

Pros: menu

Cons: cigarette smoke, tourists, sidewalk tight seat

Fantastic

by tcgar

While in the area my husband and I were able to book early (8ish) dinner reservations at the last minute. The service was welcoming... not at all haughty L.A. We thouroughly enjoyed our dinners... I had chicken with a phenomenal sauce and my husband had salmon with equally tasty sauce. We sat in the front patio, it was raining but we still enjoyed dinning outside. We certainly will return when we are in the are again!

Pros: great service, valet, flavorful food

Cons: small dinning area

One of the best

by knowfood

I've been going to this place for the last 15 years. This is one of the best places on Sunset Strip for the food and people watching. Great food: pastas, chicken, BBQ pizza, lamb, etc. Ambience and service is always tops. Sunday Brunch is very good.

Pros: food, ambience, service

Cons: can't smoke cigar

The Worst of LA

by tcrowell

We went there for lunch on a Friday and were extremely disappointed. My girlfriend got a cob salad that used iceberg lettuce that was yellowed. I got a hamburger that was a dry tasteless mass sandwiched between a stale crumbly role. We expected much more given the prices and location. The service was also horrible. We waited 20 minutes for 3 small, stale rolls.

Pros: None

Cons: , Parking
