I was happy with the fresh sea food from Pacific Ocean but lately they are not fresh. Twice I got fish with mushy texture. the kind that you got from fish that had been frozen and thawed out then frozen and thawed again. I am now afraid to buy fish there. other food item are fine. The roast duck is very good.

I bougth frozen tilapia in POM (Pacific Ocean Market) Broomfield, CO thinking how I would cook the fish and how my family would love it. To my disappointment, while we were eating the fish, my husband noticed that it was spoiled. So, then I just threw all of the tilapia.

Also, one time, when I selected a milkfish in the Fish section to have the scales taken off, I was dismayed to find a different fish given to me by that Guy who is in charge of the fish. First, he offered me the free open fish but I gave him the fish that I wanted. So, I continued shopping. I trusted him that he will geve me the fish I chose but to my DISMAY, he gave me the fish that he offered.

Since then, I don't buy fish there anymore!!!

Coming from Los Angeles, I am used to Asian supermarkets. (The Ranch-99 Market chain is the best amongst them!)

However, in Colorado, there are very few reliable places to get Asian groceries -- most are mini-markets, and do not have very good turnover of inventory.

Pacific Ocean Market Place is a true supermarket. Their inventory includes fresh seafood and meats; and they have a prepared foods counter as well. Also, like a true Asian supermarket, they offer a variety of cookware and utensils needed for true Asian cooking.

If they were in L.A., they would rate about 2.5 stars. But given the difficulty of having an Asian superstore in a non Asian-superstate (so to speak), I'll give them a 4.

For those who are much closer to Denver than Boulder, try the various Asian places in Aurora. Hmart on South Parker Rd., for one.

Pacific Ocean Marketplace is one of the GREATEST stores I have ever seen in my life!! It is an absolute mecca for all things Asian!! If you like to endulge in Asian cooking, this store will have just about any item and/ or ingredient that you are looking for. The only drawback is that most of the employees do not seem to understand English, so you more than likely have to search for items all on your own, without any assistance. The abundance of merchandise is absolutely mind-blowing, and if you like tea, the tea isle is about an entire aisle's length alone, with types of tea that had formerly been unheard of by me!! The store has many varieties of Asian fruits and vegetables, as well as a vast variety of fish-both fresh and frozen, many types of Asian beverages, noodles galore, and the list goes on and on. The store is very nicely laid out, and very brightly lit, organized, and well presented. There is a nice deli type eatery right inside the door, and a few very good asian restaurants right outside of it, within the same plaza. If you love Asian food, then this store is a MUST for you to visit!!

Pacific Ocean Marketplace is a large Asian specialty seafood market. I was amazed at the variety and very pleased to see that the prices were not only reasonable but actually cheaper than the supermarket. They have a great variety of lobsters, fish, scallops,, mussels and much more. They also have some other items including veggies and baked goods! They are very eager to answer questions and will even do some prep on your seafood for no charge. I've found that they do a put coupons in some of the local publications so keep an eye out for those if you would like to get an even better deal. I was expecting the building to have a very fishy smell but it really wasn't. That should signify that the fish is quite fresh. It was clean and well lit. There is a decent amount of parking. The only drawback I have found is that it seems to be very busy on the weekend.

PROS: Great Variety, Clean and Well Lit, Fresh Product
CONS: Very Busy on Weekends

This is so much more than the usual Asian food store. There are packaged and fresh foods from all over the world and a good variety of housewares. Whether it be your favorite Hello Kitty cookies, Sriracha hot sauce or fresh bok choy this is the place.
