Good pizza at this place, was very suprised that order was done quickly on a call in. By the time I got there it was ready. The service is okay, not super friendly, a little less friendly than the other establishments around them but good food so give it a try if you want pizza or salad sometime in Kernville.

After a day of rafting down the river, you work up a big appetite. Our scout troop always chooses Pizza Barn. The atmosphere is loud and casual, perfect for a bunch of energized teens. The pizza is good and the salad bar is well stocked.

I'll admit, our expectations were relatively low for food in the Kernville/Wofford Heights/Lake Isabella area. We were staying in Kernville, but had heard good things about a place down in Lake Isabella. We found The Pizza Barn (Kernville) online and decided to go there instead since it was just up the road from our motel and we didn't want to make the drive to the other place.

The Pizza Barn is a good pizza place. The ambience and environment were nice, kind of a like a pizza lodge (not so much barn.) Ordering went quickly...we got an order of potato wedges and an Xtra Lg pizza with white garlic sauce, artichoke hearts, fresh spinach, and tomatoes. Our order was just under $23.

They did say, when we ordered, that it would be about 25 minutes...and it was. But there was a large flat screen in the corner and the atmosphere was conducive to conversation (not loud or cavernous.) There's also a video game room to occupy kids if you have 'em. Good seating for small or large groups. When we saw them start bringing out other people's pizza, we had a feeling we'd made a good choice. The pizzas were large, thick, and looked amazing.

When our pizza and potato wedges finally came, they were so worth the wait. The potato wedges were pretty standard-tasty, but not oily. The pizza had a soft, thick, delicious, pillowy crust, tons of cheese, and was just plain good...and not just for Kernville. If this place were near my home, I would eat there regularly.

When the pizza came, it was so big my husband and I said to each other that there was no way we'd be able to finish the whole thing (and he's 7ft tall...so usually he can polish off whatever I don't eat.) Once we got to eating it and it was so delicious, we couldn't stop eating until it was gone. Usually after eating that volume of food, we'd feel sick. But not this time. The crust wasn't oily...the sauce wasn't overpowering. It was kind of perfect pizza and we're so glad we chose The Pizza Barn.

Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Portions, Location

Cons: Wait time (but worth it)
