Upon entering gal was not friendly and left me standing as I am handi caped.
Took forever to check out as her counting her money was more important than our service.

Started out great, nice atmosphere, friendly hostess. Garlic Fries appetizer was great but swimming in a pool of oil at the bottom. Clam chowder and Hungarian Mushroom soups were amazing. The greatness ended there. Grilled Salmon was dry

I had no coupon. But after eating there twice, i can tell you WHY they have to give out 2fers coupons. Most were elderly people who cannot taste their food anyway. And free meal sounds good to people on fixed incomes... I ordered their "famous mushroom soup". It was tasteless, bland, lumps of white powder,(white flour)? in the soup. Not even hot. I added salt, I added pepper. But the lumps did me in. Gross! I was gagging. The accompanying "homemade famous bread" was so not up to par. It was so old and stale & it was like eating falling apart crackers. The crumbs went all over me and the table. Tasteless also. I am NOT a smoker. I like to use spices when cooking. Second time, i ordered tuna sandwich. Well, it was like chewy something. I did not recognize what it was.Brown shredded meat. Super fishy tasting. I think they used cat food! I am not joking. It was fishy tasting, super chewy like no other tuna salad i have ever eaten.Maybe it was porpoise meat? I told my waitress when she finally showed up, i could not eat this. She got the owners wife. This old bag questioned me like she was SS and then her husband came out and glared at me and she told him to wrap it up " for dad" And take it home for his dinner." How disgusting is that? Some poor old man got my bitten into sanwich!! Also she insisted indignant that the bread is baked there daily. Maybe so, but what day and from what freezer? These are the kind of people you are dealing with here. NO scruples. God knows what else goes on in that kitchen?! Never ate their again. And don't plan to even if they give out food for FREE. And FREE is always a very good price....

Pros: good view from front windows on porch of traffic on Powell

Cons: the food sucks!

Hello friend. With a myriad of restaurants in the Gresham area best to pass on this one. The Trufflehunter is in a house built in 1907 - small rooms. NOT good for groups over 10 as my Red Hat group found out. Chairs were set literally touching one another. We chose this restaurant because several of us had a 2 for 1 coupon. Red Hatters do lunch a lot and have used 2 for 1 coupons in at least a half dozen restaurants in the Gresham area. The Trufflehunter would honor only ONE. Waitress told us they would go out of business if they had to honor 3 coupons at one table. Gee. Arrived for 1:00 lunch. Food started arriving at 1:55 p.m. All I can say is YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Pros: Thick homemade bread - if you like bread 1" thick

Cons: Slow, Crampy, Unfriendly staff

If you only go to Gresham for one thing, make it the Hungarian Mushroom Soup at The Trufflehunter. It is TO DIE FOR. It is so good, it is worth flying there from wherever you live, having the soup and flying home. It is THAT good.

Pros: Soup, Soup, Soup

Cons: Not sure...

I only go here for the sandwiches! That's what they're great at! They are HUGE....GIANT....of epic size. And sooo good it's not even funny. I've been coming to Truffelhunter for YEARS and it's always been great. This is where I bring people from out of town for a treat, never fails that they love it. And, if you manage to still have some room, the desert is great too. Burgers, as my friends assure me, are also worth trying.
GO, ENJOY....it's GREAT food!

We talked about going here for a long time, it looked like a cute place. Well inside it very cramped. The front room is basically a large hallway and you can barely back your chair up to get in. My pasta dish was sooooooo bland and i only ate about a 1/4 of it. maybe i picked the wrong thing but i did not like it. My husbands wasn't good either, although he thought it was alright. I'm not in a hurry to go back here

I had heard of this place for years... and finally tried it out for dinner with my hubby. It was nice inside, the staff was friendly and I loved the character of the house... but, it was a bit cramped and noisy for dinner. My food was alright- nothing great- but my husband did like his Rubin sandwich a lot... so, we tried again for breakfast a while later. It's breakfast- how hard can it be to get right? Well.... again, great staff and environment... actually much quieter at breakfast time... BUT... the food was horrible! I couldn't even eat it. Which never happens. I ate the biscuit cause it was ok- the egg scramble was nasty- dry eggs, too much olives, forgot my avocado and just didn't taste good at all- the potatoes were ok, but bland... needed way more spices!!! I was really disappointed cause I love the location so much... and was hoping to find a fun, romantic place to go with my husband... guess we'll keep looking. Maybe it was just an off day? I'd stick to the dinners if you go... side note: they did comp one of our breakfast meals- which was nice, but expected when you don't eat it ;)

They have the best burgers in town and the best prices and portions. The environment was really chill and the service was great it was super busy since we went on the weekend so we did expect a bit of a wait which is understandable for small restaurants. The waitress was nice and their banana split cheesecake is to die for.

I will be back for sure and recommend this place as one of the top in Gresham.

This is a nice restaurant right along the main drag in Gresham. They offer a great breakfast and lunch in what was originally an old home. The service is very good and a nice change from your typical restaurants.

We went out for an early mother's day breakfast to the Truffle hunter. I ordered the french toast and it was awesome. They give you enough butter to last a lifetime. I ate leftovers for lunch!

This is a nicely priced, large portion restaurant. The breakfast menu has a great selection, a good kids menu, and the best home-made bread. The bread is exceptional as toast and extraordinary as french toast. The omelets are also very good. A little too busy for the amount of staff when we first arrived, but they quickly called in the cal vary!!

The Trufflehunter is quaint and the service is friendly. I have been to many little restaurants from Mississippi Ave to Hawthorne and this is definitely one of my top three picks! Cozy and warm atmosphere and great food, large portion sizes too!

Good food but a little spendy. Small restaurant set up in an old house which gives a comfy ambiance. But, limited parking. Good place for a quality night out.

My wife took me there for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised! The Barbecue Beef Sandwich is huge and amazing. I could only eat half for lunch. Had the other half for dinner. Their homemade bread was perfect. Even the french fries were unique and authentic. Very tasty meal for a great price!

My husband and I eat here prob twice a month. The sandwiches are huge and awsome as are the dinners, and the burgers. My fav is the turkey burger with cranberry sandwich. The pies are awsome too. We order 5 of them for Thanksgiving the past couple of years. I highly suggest everyone to eat there at least once!

After changing to new owners for a short time Trufflehunter was much less than it was. We were disappointed with what they had become to say the least.

Today we returned, and I am happy to say Trufflehunter is now even better than before!

Portions that were the hallmark, along with their desserts and main courses, are now again massive and totally delicious. Gone are bags of chips. New is a freshly made gormet chip with a slight BBQ-vinegar flavor. The "Light Eaters" now offers your choice of great soups, freshly made fries or a salad. We enjoyed at truly great Hungarian Mushroom.

If you left after the new owners came, now is the time to return!

The huge Reuben was just okay. The Pot Roast entrée was good, but they used cheap vegetables that weren't tasteful. I'd pass on the open-faced Turkey sandwich as it was dry, and again, they were served with those poor vegetables. Price was good for what you get, but a little confusing if you deviate: $1 to split, comes with what?, if you want more than it comes with, how much, etc.? Service was very friendly, and those desserts look good.

havent been out to the old trufflehunter in quite
sometime....so the family and i decided to go and
lo and behold they have changed their image and
are changing their decor...this place is great...
they still have the homemade bread and desserts,
the service however is much better...(which is why we haven't been in so long) you no longer have to wait around....the pot roast is still great, add that with some toll house pie and i'm set for the night..
they also now serve breakfast 7 days a week

Trufflehunter is a great restaurant with homemade bread and soups. They also have fantastic entrees. Portions are very large and you get your money's worth. THe desserts are fresh and some are unique to Trufflehunter. But be ready to wait. While the food is phenomenal the service tends to be VERY SLOW. This is a great place for a long romantic evening, or to catch up with old friends, as it is set in an old house in Gresham.
