I had a brick fall out of my old wood stove. I went in to these guys since they were right down the street, and they gave me a brick for nothing. They also told me where i could find a poker set for cheaper. That kind of customer service isnt something you find everyday. I will probably be back for anything I need woodstove related. Awesome

Hearthside and Home caused a gas leak while installing a gas fireplace insert at our home. Then they left without detecting it, or at least without informing us, and - when we called them - wouldn't come back out to fix it that afternoon. They told us we'd have to wait until 9:30 the next morning. We wound up having to break a window to ventilate the basement, and then we called the gas company (PSE) to address the leak. When PSE arrived, they informed us that the work was done without proper permitting, and they shut off our gas. That night and through the next day, we were without hot water, heat, a stove, and a dryer. H&H had to uninstall the new gas line the next day so our gas could be turned back on. One installer from H&H admitted that no one at the company has a license to install gas plumbing - and that they all just use the license # of a former employee when necessary to get through permitting. The whole installation process wound up taking two weeks (instead of one day), and I wound up sacrificing four vacation days and a Saturday morning to babysit their work. On the last day, I had to give the company truck a jumpstart because it had died in my driveway. All this, and the sales manager refused to give us any refund - instead, saying he would just do us the favor of not charging us for the extra trips (caused by their own mistakes). Everyone told us to hire Sutter instead... we should have just listened to them...

We purchased a gas log set and glass door for our fireplace in February. \r
I went into the showroom not intending to buy, but with many questions. The young salesman filled me in on the gas log details and options and also gave me a rough estimate of the total cost of installation for our zero clearance fireplace.\r
My wife and I came back several months later and ordered our logs and doors with the help of a very helpful salesman. I usually shop intensely for every major purchase, but this time I felt comfortable coming back to order from Hearthside and Home.\r
Our doors were installed by Bruce, who did a fabulous job, and the logs and gas line by another installer, who also did a neat, tidy, and very professional job.\r
We'll gladly recommend this company to friends, family, and even enemies. We are very pleased with our installation and took time out from sitting in front of the fire to write this.

We are pleased with our recent purchase and installation of a gas fireplace insert. The sales and installation folks were knowledgeable, friendly, and prompt. I will gladly refer them.

All this, and the sales manager refused to give us any sort of refund for our troubles; instead, he said we should feel lucky he wasn't charging us for the extra trips (caused by their own errors). Everybody told us to go with Sutter Home and Hearth instead, and I wish we'd just listened to them.
