Lupe's is a great place when I'm out and about and craving some Mexican food. I really like the fajitas - chicken or beef - and the experience is always pleasurable.

Hands down the best fajitas I have EVER tasted. Lupe's fajitas stood out to me because of the unbelievable flavor of the meat. According to the chef who I requested to meet after raving about my meal, the steak used in the fajitas is marinated for 24 hours in a spicy lime sauce in order to give the meat an exotic bite, and to ensure tenderness.

Great fajitas and a great atmosphere make for a wonderful experience on the road in Houston. Highly recommended!

I went to the one near Katy. It's cramped on the inside (it looks like it used to be a house or something) but the food is great! The enchiladas have some sort of lime green sauce and are delicious. I NEVER eat everything on my plate and I cleaned my plate. The salsa was kinda spicy for my liking but I cannot wait to go back!

I'm a regular, and they have never disappointed. Their salsa is seriously excellent and I haven't found better anywhere in Houston. Good crispy thin chips, and FANTASTIC chicken fajitas with yummy caramelized onions and perfect hot, thin flour tortillas.

Also worth trying: any of the enchiladas and the (very strong) strawberry margarita.

You WILL have to circle for parking at this location and wait up to half an hour near a playground with shrieking kids. Then again, if you are a parent, there is a playground you can send your shrieking kid to while you have a strawberry margarita, so it probably depends on your point of view. So far, have always found the food to be worth the wait.

My family loves Lupe Tortilla. Don't go when you're in a hurry, but the food is worth the wait--very fresh and it comes to you right from the oven. This restaurant is one of the only eateries in Houston offering an extensive patio with a play area for the kids that's isn't a fast food place. The prices are reasonable given the quality and quantity of the dishes. If you're on a budget, try splitting an entree--they are definitely large enough to share.

I've never been the one to write about my horrible experiences at restaurants, but last night's experience was just enough to throw me over the edge and jump on the bandwagon.

I love Lupe Tortillas, I think their food is amazing. But I went to this location for the first time for a birthday dinner. Besides the waiter taking an incredibly LONG time serving us water and then disappearing throughout the night (we didn't even know his name), our experience at Lupe was ruined by an uninvited pest. Yeah, who cares right? It's just a pest, but the way we were treated by the staff AND manager was by far the worst customer experience I've ever experienced. The first encounter of the pest was when it grazed my friend's shoulder and then she saw it on the chair. We tried to destroy it but it was no where to be found. We let that go, but it made quite a scene that staff should have checked to see what was wrong.

2nd encounter was when we saw the pest on the other side of the wall, which resulted in making a bigger scene and screams, knocking over glasses, causing quite a stir. During this time, staff just walked by and didn't bother to even ask to see what was wrong. We then asked for a manager after waving down a waiter.

What was worse was when the manager finally approached us, he treated us with no respect and no sincere apology. Instead he gave us poor excuses of how they can't control pests coming in and out because the doors are open at lupe tortilla during business hours. He then asked us, after seeing that we were all standing and unsatisfied with our dining experience, if he wanted us to go under the tables and find the pest. But the thing is that the way and attitude he offered that suggestion, seemed purely out of sarcasm. He moved on with an insincere apology. He didn't even offer to move us to another table. I was determined to fill out the comment card explaining the horrible dining experience we have had at Lupe Tortilla and the way we were treated.

After we sat back down, with NO appetite left whatsoever, and conversed casually for a while, the pest came back and landed on my other friend's shoulder. This was when I drew the line and called for the manager again. After complaining of asking the manager, how they expect us to pay for our meals after this type of experience, especially when the restaurant is violating health codes, he came up with even more excuses of how he cant do anything because we already finished our meals, he can't do anything about the pests coming in and out, how the exterminator comes weekly, if we expect him to stand at the doors and guard the restaurant from pests, that he had asked before during the 2nd encounter if we needed him to destroy the pest (which was poorly handled), that the waiters are trained to escalate these issues to the manager and in this case, he was not informed about the situation, the whole 9 yards.

Our goal was not to get a free meal, but honestly to get a sincere apology from the restaurant that promises great customer service. The manager treated us with disrespect and I believe he treated us as if we were college students. Clearly we were all working professionals, OUT of college. And even in that case, he should have still treated us with the utmost dignity and respect. Towards the end, he then offered to take care of the bill. Even though we got a free meal, he still kept giving us excuses and not owning the situation. I don't think he realized what we were trying to express. Concerns of health violation, poor treatment of the customers, and lack of respect.

Lupe Tortilla, we will never go to that restaurant again. Poor customer service and attentiveness to our party from the staff/waiter, and disrespectful and rude manager.

If you're thinking about having Lupe Tortilla cater any special event...please look elsewhere!!!!!!!! Save yourself the time! I contacted these people via email and phone and got NO RESPONSE whatsoever to catering inquiries. I left voicemails, I called several times without ever getting a live person, and my email never got responded to and it has been almost two months. Of course, we went with a different catering service. But on top of all this, two weeks after leaving a "dissatisfied customer" voicemail to their corporate office, the lady, although very nice and very apologetic never followed through with a dining certificate she said she would have mailed to me as a courtesy for the lack of response from Lupe Tortilla. It's been a month and I still never received it. So much for gaining a reputation...

We have been eating at Lupe Tortilla's since the late 1990s. They continue to produce the best fajitas in Texas, and their service has improved! They are an extremely family friendly restaurant. It is especially ideal for young families with children between ages 1 and 10. Each restaurant is slightly different. Our favorite location is Lupe #2, located along the U.S. 59 SW Freeway between Greenbriar & Kirby. The crowds can cause long waits at times, but the atmosphere is enjoyable. Unlike one of the critical reviews, we love the salsa served with the chips. For us, whether a day has been good or bad, we're always up for a Lupe's Night!

My husband and I enjoy the beef fajitas and margaritas at Lupe's they are the best in town. We usually end up sitting at the bar area because of the long wait for a table. The biggest drawback to an enjoyable evening here are the hoards of loud, dirty, illbred children that are allowed to run rampant by their parents who possess a delusion of entitlement.

Pros- Great Fajitas and margaritas
Cons - too many kids

I definite don?t recommend Lupe Tortillas on 2414 Southwest Fwy. Last Saturday I went to eat with my boyfriend and when I got there the hostess walk us to the room on the left hand side where the waiter took a long time to assist us. Once she brought the drinks she took the order and she did not show up. We notice on the room several flies, and we asked to be move to another area. Once we were at a different section waiting for our food, we were ignore. We wait for a long time until we ask what was wrong with our order and the waiter did not know who had our table. After 15 minutes our waiter come and she apologies and we found out that our order was never taken so we reorder and when the food was brought to us it was not correct the tortillas were flour instead of corn. I was very upset. Would not recommended the place to anyone.

Lupe Tortilla has the best beef fajitas anywhere! It is hands-down my favorite restaurant in Houston. I've been dozens of times and always ordered the fajitas until last week, when I ordered the green enchiladas w/ chicken. And guess what?! They were delicicious too! We always bring our out of town guests to eat here, and they all rave about it too. The wait for a table is long on most nights, but it is definitely worth it. Enjoy a margarita at the bar while you're waiting. Relaxed atmosphere, very kid-friendly.

I've been going to this restaurant since I was in diapers and when it only had ONE location. The place has exploded b/c of popularity and is becoming a common Mexican food restaurant found in all neighboring cities of Houston. This place was begun by genuine lovers of the food, culture, and business. TRY THE FAJITAS! The margaritas have gotten a little weaker...or maybe I've become more tolerant? :) ha. Overall amazing place. The one on Hwy 6 is the original and the best, but all are good.

I have to admit that this is my favorite Mexican place in Houston. Is it the best food? Probably not, but it is very good food. It is a large restaurant sectioned off into rooms and is authentically decorated. So it has a great ambiance and small feel...while eating that is. There may be lots of kids there, but you will only notice the few sitting in your little room. Waiting for a table is another story. This place is packed. The bar is a decent size and there are lots of seats outside to wait. Regardless, expect at least 20 mins for a table. I usually am waiting for a table for 2..which is not that bad. But if you're iwth a group, you better park it with a margarita...it's gonna be a while.

Went in at 2PM and the service was below terrible! Ignored by everyone even the manager. Made several complaints and the corporate management was even worse. Hard to believe this place stays open when they do not appreciate someone trying to give some helpful criticism. Still, I had a opportunity to try the food when a friend brought some to me. I've had better Tex Mex in Florida, ( They have very few Tex Mex rest. in south Florida and they rarely stay open long). This is the McDonalds of Tex Mex at the most. But Hey, they make it on people who have never experienced real Tex Mex or Mexican food.

Went in at 2PM and the service was below terrible! Ignored by everyone even the manager. Made several complaints and the corporate management was even worse. The food is really good...that's where good stops. Screaming kids, tables jamed together, high priced drinks, toooo long of waits, rude staff, terrible sauce (noticed I didn't say "hot sauce"), sloooow service....if that's what you're after rush right down to Lupes. If you want to avoid "kidoom" try lunch. There are too many good Tex-Mex places around to deal with the many faults dealt you by Mr. Lupe.

Cons: Wait, Service, Prices

I think that Lupe Tortilla has the best fajitas in the city and I believe in the state. I eat there at least twice a week its my favorite place to meet friends and have a great time. For those with children this has to be paradise for you where else can you sip margaritas and let your kids play for hours in a safe enviroment. You may have to wait for a table but its always worth the time once that plate of sizzling fajitas arrives. If you happen to eat there when the manager Heath is working you will for sure be taken care of he is attentive of the entire restaurant's needs. I love this place. They just need more tables to cut the wait down.

Pros: Great for kids, Friendly servers, Long time employees

Cons: Long wait, Parking, Small Bar

This place is too overcrowded. Its bad enough that evey place in Houston is already overcrowded, but to go here and have to die of heat while waiting for a table is not worth it. The food is ok, but its mexican food. How can you possibly mess it up. The food we got was cold and the service was horrible. I told freinds and family members the same thing and they all had stories of the same scenario. Will never go back....Go to Papasitos. If the one is crowded that you go to, there is always another nearby.

I went here a few weeks ago with some family from out of town. The place was highly recommended from a few friends, but I was highly dissappointed. The margaritas were tiny and were very overpriced. The servers were rude. Food was an OK value, but considering the service, it was not worth it. In fact they brought the wrong meal out. The server was notified and she said, "I won't tell anyone you got lucky, they gave you the steak instead of the chicken." When we recieved the bill we were overcharged, and the server said "what do you want me to do about it?" They just really did not handle the situation well.

My friends and I LOVE Lupe's!!! I can't get enough of this place. The beef is the best I've tasted and i'm not even a big beef fan. The beef fajitas or quesadillas are a must and the margaritas will keep you happy!!!

Pros: Good Value

Pappasito's fajita's were always my favorite so I didn't much care for the Lupe's at first: (too strong lime flavor)...but later realized that they are an acquired taste. Now I am ADDICTED! After more than 50 - 60 visits over the years The service from both the wait staff and the management have been unacceptable on only a few occasions. All other visits have been absolutely fantastic! Some may be turned off by the kid-friendly atmosphere, noise, long wait and crowdiness (is that a word?), but the food can't be too bad if there are that many people willing to wait an hour and a half in a "noisy & cramped" restaurant with "bad service" almost every night! They're not all "first-timers". The place is Mexican kitch. Go there knowing that there will be a wait, have a sense of humor and try not to take the place too seriously.

I travel from Michigan JUST for Lupe's!! Yes, there is a God.

I love the place so much, my husband proposed to me at your restaurant.

Thank you for all the great meals and good times.
See you soon.

Pros: Tastes Great!!, Great Service, Best Fajitas EVER

.

This place has the best fajitas I've ever had. If you're a beef person, try the beef fajitas. It is to die for. I always recommend Lupe's to other people. It is very crowded for lunch so if you are thinking of taking a big party, make sure to call ahead. The service is very nice even when it's busy.

Absolutely the best Mexican food I have ever had. Great margaritas, chip, and beans! Huge servings.
Wonderful service. Crowded, but aren't most good restaurants.

Pros: Great Margaritas, Delicious Salsa, Great Service

Watery hot sauce that drips all over the table and your sleeves, back to back chairs so crowded you can barely move, noisy, rude staff, overpriced. What on earth is there to recommend this sorry place in a town bulging with wonderful Mexican restaurants?
