This organization silently does wonderful work for people with vision diabilities or who are totally blind. Unless you or someone you love are effected by a vision disability, you probably do not know what an active part The Lions Club organization does to help with this disability.

In Glendale, California they formed "The Foothill Blind Club" which serves lunch and offers a program of some sort every Wednesday for people with vision disabilities. The ladies of the Lions Club prepair the meal there in the club kitchen and serve it to those attending. The programs they offer for entertainment can be musicians, crafts (yes, crafts that they help you do!) or a speaker. They also have "readers" to help with your mail and corospondence. There is, however, a cost for memebership...a whopping $1.00 per year.

Other Lions groups have other ways of helping people with vision diabilities, but all groups are dedicated to assisting people in some way who are dealing with blindness.

When you see a box or barrel marked "Donate your old glasses so someone else may see", please drop your old glasses in.
