Kinda like New York at the beach... with only beer and wine. Friendly people, great crowd, strong beer and an immense tap/bottle beer and wine menu.

Pros: great beer

Cons: no jukebox

Once fun bar is now tragic coke den. This place used to be a lot of fun, even though the music is always a bit too loud. But nowadays, it is a giant over-extended frat party, except all the frat boys are 30, and all the girls look like they are still looking to be little sisters. So instead of a fun and chill place, you now have coke heads openly asking for party favors and coke chicas playing the part to a tee. Pathetic. Try Library Ale house or something. anything...

Pros: Good beer

This place is laid back and has a great selection of beer and wine. Does get very noisy and crowded on the weekends so if you want to have a party there would recommend getting there early to grab the back area for your guests. They also allow outside food to be brought in as well.

Really great selection of drinks, although it is just beer and wine. It does get quite crowded, but still feels low key. Not like a Hollywood club at all.

The other room is a really awesome place to go and just hang out. They have way more beers on tap than I could've ever imagined. I'm not really a beer drinker but they have a raspberry beer there that tastes like cranberry juice it's so good! I highly highly recommend this hip, trendy, Venice bar.

I felt like I had to sign up just to write about this place. It's become my favorite bar on the westside... I even met my boyfriend of almost 8 months here :) It's a really mellow atmosphere with tons of yummy new wines and beers to try. (No hard alchie). That's ok though... I really recommend going Wednesday nights where it gets crowded, but not too crowded. Weekends becomes impossible because the place is so full.
This is a must on the westside!

Went a couple of Saturdays ago and I loved it! I got there around 10pm and waited alone outside for one of my girlfriends. A friendly couple befriended me and asked me to join them at their table --- I didn't have to line up! Thank god, coz the line outside was getting a bit long. People were so friendly and the bar was so cool. By the time my friend got to the line, there were already about 20 poeple waiting, and she had to wait an hour, as the place isnt that big and they couldnt let any more people in if no one was leaving. No cocktails here - straight up beer or hard liquor. It's really loud inside, so I wouldnt recommend it for a date, but really fun with friends!!!

Pros: very east coast, no attitude

Cons: hard to park on venice, line can get long after 10pm

This is definitely a San Francisco or NY type, relaxed bar. They only serve beer or wine and it is popular; very crowded every time I've been. I think the crowd is attractive, but I can't be sure because they keep the lighting quite low. This is a good place to hang out with a group of friends and relax, but not a fun place for say a girls night out on the town. I've gone a few times for that and we just kind of stood around until we decide to go some place new. But if you're looking for a chic, chill place to hang out....this is a good bet.

Pros: Decent crowd, unpretentious

Cons: Too dark, can be boring if you have the wrong expectations

As this page says, no hard alcohol to be found here. But beer and wine drinkers rejoice. This nicely put together place has just about every beer you can think of, and a great selection of wine. The place gets crowded on the weekend, but it's no impossible to find a seat as it can be in many other popular bars. There are two larger open rooms with plenty of tables and booths, as well as a smaller, narrower room in the middle that looked like a great place to have a private party. Prices are average ($4-6 beers), especially considering the selection

Pros: nice atmosphere, not pretentious, street parking relatively ample

Cons: no liquor, loud rock music doesn't quite meld with the atmosphere

The Otheroom is a fun neighborhood local bar with an amazing beer selection. If you're a hard liquor drinker, keep moving, they don't serve it here. It's also good for dates - it's nice and DARK! Bring your friends, bring you dog, and bring your thrist for beer.

I was invited here by a buddy who toured the SF bar scene and told me it was like "back home." I figured the other LA bars I'd tried were too "LA" for me so I figured I'd give it a try. I have to say, it did in fact feel like a NorCal bar! The people weren't pretentious and the doormen were cool. I got Delirium ON TAP! I couldn't believe it. They also had Chimay and Lindemans! Anyone who has that much Belgian beer on tap deserves mention. They don't serve food or snacks or anything, so it's a great after-dinner/after-work bar. I've been there a couple times during the week, and once on a weekend where it was much louder and too "LA" for me. During the week it's more chill so that's when I'll be there.

Though the Otheroom is very popular, it's still not snobby or "hollywood". Great selection of wines by the glass and tons of different kinds of beer, comfy seats, good lighting and great music make this a perfect place for a date or a nightcap. People from Venice, show your driver's license to skip the line.

PROS: Nicest bar in Venice
CONS: Very busy Friday/Saturday nights

Music deafening and extremely crowded on weekends. Much better on weekdays - just enough people and music volume is lower, although I prefer they lower it a tad bit more. Nice crowd, decent girl to guy ratio (2:3 maybe). No hassle at door. Very dark.

Went in this darkroom on a Thursday and what a mistake. The doormen was high and tried to shake me down for a $20 spot. I really enjoyed ordering a $12 beer! The bartenders are a mess and could use some training or firing! This place isn't Venice and needs to go away....

A nice dark trendy place in venice, A lot of people inside and it takes a while to find a seat. Great selection of beer and wine but kinda pricy. Fun atmosphere, good place to meet people and the crowd is good lookin but a bit older than i expected. The crowd ranges from 25 to about 30. If you barely turned 21 this is not the best choice but its fun. I would go again but when im a bit older.

When there are five people behind the bar and two female "bartenders" chat while you
wait I'd rather go somewhere else. Beer is expensive and no food. Too pretentious
for me.

Love this bar. The bar is trendy but also managed to stay a neighborhood place. The bartenders are knowledgable and friendly. The beer and wine selection is amazing. Perfect place to meet friends for a night out!

Nice atmosphere. Decent beer selection. Friendly door guys. It all ends their because they don't serve food, hard alcohol or even snacks. They don't have a television and the beer is served in water glasses, unless your order Stella or Heffenweizen. All of that's fine if you're a supermodel wannabe, and there are plenty of those there. For the rest of us, I'd suggest you keep moving.

Bring your earplugs - this place is loud! Even when they stopped playing music, I could barely hear my girlfriend as she was yelling into my ear. All the hard surfaces - tin ceiling, brick walls, and harwood floors, make for a very noisy experience. It's easier to text message than carry on a conversation in this place! The beers and wines are quite expensive, but the selection is excellent. I wish the wine glasses were as nice as the beer glasses. It would be nice to drink a $14 glass of red wine out of a decent glass. The prices are high and the place is noisy, but that doesn't seem to be keeping the crowds away, even on a Wednesday night.

A line out the door is one thing, but a deafening room packed so full you can't get near the bar for a $9 draft beer is another. This bears no relation to its smooth, low-key NYC siblings; the only hope for this place is that it calms down enough to be remotely enjoyable.
