Great kennel, we have used them twice, for long weekends and have been very pleased. The front desk staff are nice and sweet to our dog and he always comes home happy, healthy and well rested.

Thank you again so much. I know it was your job and what you get paid for, but its more than that, you truly cared, you showed not only my parents respect but me too.

Awesome kennel. I was very pleased with the whole experience and I already made another reservation to bring them back for my next vacation!

The caretakers at You Lucky Dog were great. Personable and made me feel confident that I brought my dog to a place where she was going to be well taken care of. Their facilities are clean which is really important to me. Great job!

Their building is very worn down, and I feel very uncomfortable leaving my dog here.

We did the puppy training at You Lucky Dog with Mike, and he did such a wonderful job! She went from being scared of everything to a brave confident dog. Thanks.

You Lucky Dog is my puppy's home away from home. Whenever I have to go out of town, this is where she stays, and she loves it! This place rocks. Thanks again.

Love this place! It is good to know that your dog spends most of his time in supervised play with the other dogs rather than being in a solitary run. And someone always stays with the dogs when you board overnight which is so comforting while you are way.

Daycare service is good and fairly priced. However I'd say that the building needs renovation. No issues

We started off well w. leaving our dog at this place for a few tries before we went on vacation. We even purchased a pre-paid card for future use. When we got back the owner suggested we bring our dog elsewhere in the future. We weren't given much of an explanation, she just said he'd do better somewhere else. We wanted him to have a positive experience engaging w. other animals. He was receiving A's on his daily report cards, and the staff loved him. When we called in from vacation (overseas, no less!) we received great reports. We were pretty upset and honestly suggest you look elsewhere if you're looking for somewhere to board your dog for an extended period of time.

The only review I need to post is what my pup experiences on the way to YLD and his reaction once we get there. On the trip to daycare he shows progressive excitement! When we get there he is SO excited to stay that he forgets I exist automatically. This is the perfect daycare and boarding because it is designed around what is good for the dogs.

My wife and I would find it extrememly difficult to relocate, should we have to some day, due to the amount of joy they bring to our dog and ourselves.

A++ Grooming Service, We are so happy that our vet recommended the groomer at You Lucky Dog! We have been extremely pleased every single time we've gone. I can't tell you much about the daycare or boarding they do but I can't say enough to tell you how great the groomer is! I have personally used SIX! other places for grooming in Raleigh, wake forest and Cary and this is by far the best. I just wish it wasn't located inside a daycare place with strange hours.

The only "con" is that they are closed from 11:30 until 1:30 because of the daycare dogs taking a nap. So no grooming pickup during that time.

Pros: Lots of parking, Friendly staff, lots of happy looking dogs, Wonderful Groomer!

We recently took our Pomeranian to You lucky Dog for grooming, after several poor haircuts at petsmart. The Price was 10$ higher, but we got exactly the look we had been asking for. My husband and I were also happy that they only groom 5 or 6 dogs a day, as opposed to the dozens we saw at our previous Salon.

Pros : Very few dogs, individual attention, same groomer every time

Cons: Not available 7 days a week, Slightly Pricey, Closed at lunch time

We've been customers at You Lucky Dog since it opened and used to love the personal service and the caring attitude of the staff. Even after we moved an hour away and could no longer bring our dogs for daycare, we continued to make the drive for boarding when we went out of town. This year for Thanksgiving we made reservations more than a month in advance and made several calls to verify. This weekend, less than a week before we're scheduled to leave, we were notified that we need to bring the dogs to daycare or they can't board. We both work and can't make an hours drive through the busiest traffic without planning ahead. We said the last minute notice might make this a problem and were then told our dogs had "issues" last time they boarded and could not board this time unless they were brought to daycare. This shocked and angered us. We were assured there were no problems while we were gone last time and that our dogs had re-adjusted as if they'd been coming all along. To find out now, months later that there were problems is unacceptable, especially as it seemed to be a way of forcing us to spend additional dollars by bringing them in for daycare. It also seemed conspicuous that they waited to tell us these things until the week prior to our leaving, having had ample opportunity do so earlier. Now we have no hope of finding an alternate site and will lose all our vacation deposits. Even worse the manager, who knows us, didn't call, but had a staff member do it. We left a message requesting she contact us, as we could not believe loyal customers were being treated like this, but she hasn't bothered to call us. We're shocked at how low the level of service has sunk. Their staff advised us that they now have close to 50 dogs at daycare and apparently do not have the staff to handle this. We used to always recommend them but after this experience and hearing how we were not notified of past problems, we strongly suggest finding another facility.

Pros: none anymore

Cons: too many dogs, not enough staff, cancels plans at last minute

i wouldnt put too much (anything) into the "mahrens77" neg review of Lucky Dog....the writer sounds like a borderline (personality disorder).....someone who takes rejection real personally.....i could go on and on, but suffice it to say, there's a reason She has a "partner." And, any and all businesses reserve the right to refuse any patron....i suspect it was the writer, not the dog that "did not pass the screening."

I was shocked to learn of the negative review. However, I guess if my dog didn't pass the 'screening' I'd be a little bummed, too. I feared my dog would be too boisterous, too, but in the end, he settled into the environment (his pack), and everyone is happy!

We, too, had issues w/ crate aversion (well, he eats crates), separation anxiety, etc, and was so happy when I found this place, where they understand and love the dogs they take care of. Everyone who works here loves animals. And they UNDERSTAND pooches and how they are in packs. This is of utmost importance, since the hounds run around w/ each other all day (except at lunch and at night when sleeping/eating in their crates), and they have to know how to control/handle the little fellas.

All the folks here have been incredibly personable to me as well. They know me and my pooch by name. They've also helped me finding all kinds of things around town (since I'm new here).

I was kind of torn in writing the recommendation, b/c I don't want my favorite place to fill up where it'll be tough to get my pooch in sometimes--but I also don't want it to have a bad rap, b/c of one bad review. These guys are fabulous, and I highly recommend them (but I kind of would rather keep it my secret!).

I have never written a review before, but when I learned of a negative view on City Search for You Lucky Dog, I just had to respond. My Nicky, a very active Pembroke Welsh Corgi, has been going to Day Care at You Lucky Dog since he was 4 months old (he is 7 months now). He loves it. But, not as much as I do... the staff is outstanding and I truly feel like Nicky and I are part of the family. They know dog owners by name, and make you and your dog part of their daily lives taking an active caring interest in each dog. They are also more than familiar with each dogs needs and any particulars. NIcky gets plenty of exercise and plays in the snow or in the swimming pool...depending on the weather. The facility is always clean and the staff courteous.
I would not take Nicky anywhere else. It is such a comfort to know that he is being well taken care of during my absence. Highly recommend!

We have used You Lucky Dog for daycare daily and occasional boarding since the facility opened in the fall of 2004. We had used several other doggie daycares before You Lucky Dog but were not nearly as happy as we have been with You Lucky Dog. Our boxer absolutely loves going to daycare here and is very happy with both the staff and the other dogs at the facility. The staff is great and gives each fo the dogs the love and attention they need while maintaining order amongst the pack. The dogs have plenty of opportunity to get lots of exercise with the large heated/air-conditioned indoor playroom as well as the 2 large outdoor play areas. You Lucky Dog has been very willing to work with me to help overcome issues that our rescue dog has (separation anxiety and crate aversion). This is a family run business and we feel like our dog and ourselves are treated like a part of the family.

This daycare has been nothing but nice to my dog and I. She goes to doggie daycare once a week and boards occasionally when I need it. The staff is very friendly, the facility is always clean, and my dog always has a good time. I am greeted by name and they seem genuinely pleased to see my dog and me.

Since all dogs at You Lucky Dog are screened for temperment and the play groups are always supervised by an adult, I feel confident that my dog will have a fun and safe visit. Please consider trying You Lucky Dog if you need a caring place to leave your dog.

We started using You Lucky Dog for both daycare and overnight boarding when they opened about 2 years ago. Our Shetland Sheepdog, Chance loves going there once or twice a week for doggie daycare. The staff is great and really spends time with the dogs during the day. The dogs are playing inside and outside most of the day, with the exception of snacktime and naptime. He really enjoys playing with the staff and comes home tired at the end of the day! I highly recommend the place.

We are new to the area and were looking for a doggie daycare/boarding facility to take the place of our wonderful facility that we left in Wilmington. We found Camp Bow Wow and were happy; however, they were already full for the Thanksgiving holiday. We decided to check out You Lucky Dog and were very disappointed. The staff were unfriendly towards our dog and the placed smelled strongly of disinfectant and urine. The facility itself leaves much to be desired - the boarding is crates with sheets draped over them, the outdoor area is small and has nothing for them to do. None of the staff spoke unless they were spoken to and I left with a bad feeling. I explained our dog's food allergies and the staff looked annoyed. When my partner picked up our dog, she was told he was not "passed" to be there. Our dog is a year old and has been to doggie daycare since he was 3 months old. He loves going and we have never once been told that he was unwelcome. In fact, he has always been quite popular with the staff. I knew when I left I should not have left him there for his trial run and feel badly that I did. I think the staff had some sort of issue with my partner and I and that is why our dog is not welcome. I was surprised, but we had already decided we weren't going to use them anyway, so it didn't matter that he flunked. I have never reviewed anything before, but if anyone else is thinking of them, I would stay away. I highly recommend Camp Bow Wow. Our Boston Terrier as well as our lab were welcomed and they had great things to say when we picked them up. Just be sure you reserve early for the holidays! The staff is personable and seems to really love what they are doing, unlike the You Lucky Dog staff who seems to treat it as just a job. A very bad first impression - we will be sure to let our dog park buddies know.
