Carolina Forest Veterinary Hospital is absolutely wonderful!
by Kelly D.
Our family has two dogs and a cat. This is the second vet in Myrtle Beach that we have tried as we were extremely unhappy with the first. The staff here are friendly, helpful, caring and knowledgeable. While we were using our fist vet we had a puppy die of distemper. We never thought about the virus surviving in our home and decided to rescue a puppy from the pound. When we realized that this could be a serious issue we called our vet. 4 hours later, when we still hadn't heard whether it was safe to bring our new puppy home, we called CFVH. Not only did we get an answer within 15 minutes, but they actually faxed other information to us about other illnesses-just in case! We switched immediately. We will never need to look for another vet!

I would not recommend taking your pets here. My cat had a baby in the middle of the night and from what i saw everything was fine until i went back to check on her and her one kitten at 7 in the morning. The kitten was not feeding from her and seem much weaker from a couple of hours ago. at that point i decided to take he to a vet. Carolina Forest vet was the closest to my house. by the time i got there it was 7:55 AM. the vet door said they open at 8 AM. I could see the staff in the door and they could see be but they would not come to the door. I held up the weak kitten asked please and all I got was we don't open til 8. I was outraged 5 mintues. til they opened and they couldn't let a new born kitten in early. It wasn't until i turned away to walk back to my car and leave until one lady opened the door and said fine come in with a attitude. I didn't go in. I ended up having to go find another vet and didn't end up seeing one til around 10 AM....my kitten died. As far as I'm concerned the staff at CF vet doesn't care about animals and is only there to work open to close.

Both pets go here
by Jean F.
I absolutely love this vet! We bring both our dogs and have never had an issue. They will fit in anals and nails at any time I call. They are also very good at explaining things and calling to follow-up on how our dogs do after shots, etc...

i know the real hospital

I use to be an employee of CFV, and let me tell you yes the place is very clean and yes most of the people there are good doctors and well knowledged. however they are all in this little click and i was quite disappointed to find out that some were actually liars. my boss was told one day that while I was helping a doctor take blood from a cat, they said i told or other words instructed a doctor on how to do their job and actually instructed them totake blood from the cats neck! this is not true what so ever!! I am only a tech and am in no place to ever tell a doctor what to do. While i thought i would receive fair treatment and a chance to have the situation explained to me in my confused state, this was not the case. they made me feel like a criminal and took 1 persons word over another. yes the place is clean, but let me tell you how many complaints i got from clients complaining about how they were quoted 1 price but ended up paying double for really unnecessary work they say has to b done to the animal for boarding and health issues. they love to charge more cause more money means more spending on things. you would think they would have updated equipment. like to change the x-ray machine they have from 1970. u cant even read the films correctly for a correct diagnoses. they just all sit there guessing. i am happy i was let go from there, since then i have moved on to zoology and let me tell you these people i work with now really love and care for their animals. I am very surprised that CFV would be so clicky and lie to get someone of good charcter and great work ethics fired. but it happened for better for me. good luck to all those that choose this vet for you will paying some mega money! they dont even give discounts to the employees!

Thank God for Them

My Dog Kissy is 13 years old and is part Shepard. She had been a little loafy lately so we took her there for her senior wellness check-up. Turns out her Thyroid is a little off. As I was worried (with her age and all), I was relieved to hear that it was something that could be easily cured. I know as I have NO Thyroid due to Thyroid Cancer. Kissy loves going there and they are Wonderful with her. Very Caring, inexpensive. I have been taking her there since they opened, and I can tell you that I will not take her anywhere else. My parents have a summer house here and even drive there pets here from New Jersey to see them. Excellent Service and Always make your pet feel calm and at ease there.

Very accomodating Vets
by Marge D.
We moved here almost 4 years ago before this vet opened up. We took our 10 year old (at the time) dog to VCA on 501. They were horrible - they were never on time - we sat one time waiting for over 2 hours! So needless to say when Carolina Forest Vet opened, we were thrilled. Our dog who is now 14 was one of their first patients. They treat him so kind and we never have to wait long. I don't think their prices are out of line at all. Besides, he is worth every cent. I would highly recommed them.

Wonderful service

I take my teacup Yorkie to Carolina Forest Vet and love it. It's always clean, unlike some other vets around Myrtle Beach. The receptionists are polite and knowledgeable at the desk and on the phone. The vets are educated and seem up-to-date with their knowledge of meds. and conditions. I had gone to a different vet when I first got my puppy and the doc told me that he wasn't familiar with Yorkie's. That was for sure a turn off. The best thing about this vet is that I can call about my Yorkie's ears and 20 mins later I can pick up his meds (cheap) and everyone there looks like they enjoy their job. I would recommend them to everyone.

My husband and I have been using petsmart here in Myrtle Beach. Our puppy, Chance has medical problems, and petsmart never was very through with us, they would just put him on antibiotics. The very first time we brought him to Carolina Forest Vet they knew what was wrong with him. We will never go anywhere else as long as we live in Myrtle Beach. I honestly don't think they have very expensive prices, I think it's just the norm. We have since taken our new puppy Skyler there, and he recovered from his neuter so fast, and they always call to make sure your pets are ok the next day! They are great

Little Confused On "Expensive Comments"
We moved here (Carolina Forest) 6 months ago and had been driving all the way to Petsmart for our Vet needs, and if anyone is expensive...It would be Petsmart plus the gas driving there...LOL We also purchased our new family member about 3 months ago, a Jack Russell and one evening I was cooking dinner to look down by my feet and see our baby having a seizure. I immediately jumped on the phone to tell Petsmart I was on my way in with Kaili because we had both dogs on the care plan and they stated they were closing and could not take her. I was so ticked and called my friend to see where I could take her and she told me about Carolina Forest Vet. She called for me and they also stated they were closing but she said I was on my way and if they could please help me. I got there in a matter of minutes and they were all so helpful calming me down and stayed well after closing time with us. I ended up transferring all of our dogs and cat records to this vet and cancel my wellness plan with Petsmart. We have been NOTHING but HAPPY with the services and prices. The emergency bill was 65.00 for Kaili's seizure and that included the meds, so how they are so expensive is beyond me! I have had all our pets seen and given their shots for all under 250.00, and we are far from being rich (military family here) so I am confused on why some are stating this vet is expensive!!

a little pricey, but worth while
by B. B.
I took my 4 month old kitten in for surgery on Monday, after having her examined by dr. Teague on the prior Tuesday. The office is immactulate and all of the staff; from the receptionists, to the techs, to the vets themselves are extremely professional and friendly, and they all demonstrated a genuine interest in LuLu. Before her surgery the vet spent about 20 minutes with me explaining exactly what she was going to do, from the fecal exam and FeLV booster (required for overnight stay,) to the actual surgery, to the medications she'd be giving her afterwards. I left her there Monday morning, and several hours later the vet called back to let me know LuLu was recovering well and that I could pick her up Wednesday. The staff was more than happy to check on LuLu every time I called to see how she was doing. I picked her up Wednesday morning, and the tech spent about half an hour with me showing me how to take care of her stitches and exactly when and how to administer the 3 meds she'll be on for the next few days. Today the other vet called me just to check and see how she was doing at home, which impressed me greatly.
While this particular vet is definitely priced higher than my vet in Augusta... it seems that that is just because in Myrtle Beach, EVERYTHING is more expensive.
I was very impressed with the facilities and especially by how thorough and personable the staff were- LuLu seemed right at ease as well, which made me feel comfortable leaving her there for two nights. I would highly recommend this vet hospital to anyone who cares about their pets.

outrageous prices for outdated equipment, but the vet herself is great.

I took my cat in several months ago to be de-clawed because she walks with all of her paws splayed, I was told the cost would be 250.00 (which is 130 dollars more than the vet in my hometown charges), since this was a necessity, and I liked the staff and the facilities, I agreed to have it done there. I brought my cat in, and was told that she'd have to have another examination on top of that to be sure she was healthy first, which totalled another 30 dollars, again, I paid, as I didn't think that was an unreasonable request (even though I believe that that should have been included in the price of the de-claw.) When I dropped my kitty off for her surgery, I signed all the forms, and then was told, as I was on my way to work that even though she had had her FeLV shot exactly one month ago, that to board her for the two days required I had to pay 40 MORE dollars for another FeLV booster and a fecal examination. At this point we are up to 335.00 for a bill that was supposed to be 250.00-- The part that ticked me off the most, is when I inquired WHY the bill for a simple de-claw was so expensive, I was told "Oh, that's because it includes the price of the spay/neuter as well!" When I told her Miss Kitty had been spayed as a kitten she said that that didn't matter, becuase it was a fixed price. I could *almost* justify 250.00 if they were using the new lazer method to de-claw, which is less painful for the cats and has a quicker recovery time, however they are still using the old method. Also, when I brought her in, I was told that I should have bloodwork and several other things done- for another 120 dollars. When I inquired as to why, if she was perfectly healthy, they said "oh it's just something we like to do" Sorry, no dice, I am not going to have full labwork done on a cat who has NEVER set foot outside, is up to date on all of her shots, and was vet certified two days ago as being perfectly healthy.
I am livid that when I brought kitty in for an estimate the first time, they quoted me one price, and then conveniently added all this other stuff in. I do not feel that that is a professional way to do business whatsoever. Honestly, I am also fed up with the cost of living here in Myrtle Beach, SC.
I guess that whoever wrote the review stating that this was a reasonably priced veterinary hospital either got in when they were still brand new, or considers 350.00 an inexpensive vet bill.
Overall, I would recommend this vet, as she, herself is wonderful and all of the staff is very sincere and helpful. The office is very clean and up to date (minus lazer technology) but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg.

This vet is great because it is very convenient (located in Carolina Forest) and is considerably cheaper than the chain vet located near Conway Hospital. Because it is brand new, the services offered are wonderful, and the best part is that the whole office doesn't smell like animals! It smells like a normal office, and has always been very clean. You can feel very confident in taking your animals here.
PROS: Great: local, new, and cheap
CONS: -
