I don't know exactly what I was expecting when I first went to this new Mexican chain in our area, but I WASN'T expecting an assembly line. Not that this is a BAD thing, but there is some pressure to know what you want by the time you reach the counter, especially if there is a line-up behind you. The menu is a little limited, but the strength lies in the seemingly endless combinations you can have put together for you, while you watch.

I had a Steak Fajita Burrito. It began with a large flour tortilla, warmed & softened on a special grill. Next came a large scoop of Cilantro-Lime Rice. I chose the Pinto Beans (next time will probably go with Black Beans). Then came the steak, which was freshly grilled & diced by a busy cook working behind the service counter. Again, a large scoop. Then the "fajita" part -- a generous portion of sauteed green peppers & onions. Next came a scoop of salsa -- my choice was the fresh tomato salsa (similar to Pico de Gallo). I found the Red Chili Tomatillo intriguing and will probably try that next time. Finally, I had them add Guacamole. A large scoop, yes, but at $1.65 for the add-on, it had better be. The whole business was rolled and wrapped, bursting at the seams, in a waxed sheet and then foil. Both wrappings were barely big enough to hold it.

Took my order to-go, and headed home. First thing I did was pop it in the microwave (after unwrapping onto a plate) and zap it for a minute just to be sure everything was hot.

The first bite sold me. Chock full of flavors, with just the right amount of zest from the salsa, I chowed thru it like a lumberjack. Yummy! I can't believe I ate the whole thing! It was HUGE. With the guacamole add-on, it came to about $8, but it was definitely a meal in itself, and there are few places where you can get a fresh, hot, tasty, filling MEAL that isn't deep-fried or loaded with excess fats. While I'm sure it wasn't lo-cal, it seemed to me to at least offer a decent balance of protein & carbs without tasting like sawdust (think Macheezmo Mouse).

A cut above ordinary fast-food but still pretty speedy! Definitely worth a try. I will be going back!
