I love this place. Whenever I have the time I make the drive from 257th all the way to 86th for their Dim Sum. Yeah, it's pretty popular on the weekends and some weekdays too so be prepared to sit in their waiting room for a bit before you get seated. But as far as authentic Chinese cuisine goes, you won't find any better, at least not on the east side of town I've found! "Dim Sum" translated means, "Point to your heart" or heart's desire in this case. The waitresses push around carts of hot steamed goodies and you look and point to what you want. I've always looked at Dim Sum as something like the hot, steamed, Chinese version of the cold, more visually appealing Japanese sushi (which I also love very much). Both roll food by you as you pick and choose what you want, ordering a bunch of little plates as opposed to ordering one giant family style stir fry as most people expect when they go to a Chinese restaurant. Those people looking for Chinese-American "take-out" style foods like your sweet and sours and pork fried rice will find many other fine establishments all over the area where they can get large portions for a very economic price. I don't think that's even on the menu at Wong's King, or if it is I've never ordered it. The only time I've used their menu is when I decided to go into their bar/lounge and order from there (no carts go back there, you just got to order it from the bar tender). I would recommend this place to any adventurous eater or anyone wanting to get a taste of authentic Chinese.

I have been to this restaurant a few times, and each time I've been there, I have been very disappointed. For those of you who have been there, have you noticed how they only give you one menu per table? If you ask for more menus, they'll bring you just one! I don't understand the menu shortage! Their customer service is crappy! The food is bland and has no flavor and the portions are small. It is definitely NOT worth the price. Many asian people like the place because the owner is a popular chef from China. I think this is the only reason why the place is so packed.

This is the granddaddy of all Portland Chinese restaurants , well for now at least. The food is fantastic especially the dim sum although you would have to wait a minimum of 15-20 minutes because there is a huge crowd there all the time on weekends. But definitely the best Chinese/ Cantonese food I have had in Portland in ages.

The first impression of Wong King is that it's a very large restaurant when you came in. From the outside, it does not look at big, but once you're inside, you can have a wedding party there! The restaurant was very lavish and expensive-looking with their big shiny chandeliers that probably cost about a thousand dollars each (there were six of them!) next, i notice a big tank where they keep the crabs and clams. The tank was equally lavish with big chunk of marble around the border. I was already prepare to break my wallet when i see how nice the restaurant look. To my surprise, it wasn't that bad. A dish of fried rice cost only $9, which is equivalent to another restaurant on sandy I've been to a lot. Other items aren't expensive at all(crab and lobster is $18). My best memory of the food there was how exquisite the fried rice was. it was the best i have ever eaten. It taste unlike other restaurant, seriously. The last time i've been there was with my aunt, who is a former chef, and she was equally satisfy with the foods there. This is truly a find, like a gem in the rock. I haven't heard anyone talk about this restaraurant before, just see it on the newspaper. I would definitly come here again.
