From the first step in the leasing office Ive feel in love with the amazing atmosphere of Park La Brea and of course with my apartment which is open and spacious with the excellence light source . As for me a large part of living in these types of environments is affected by how efficient and sincere the management of the complex is. That is why I would like to convey my sincere thanks to the most helpful and attentive manager I have ever met .

Laundry rooms in the buildings are shoddy, leaking from behind and probably require a mold check. Parking is non-existent, and everything else is ala-cart. Management only responds to reviews all day long and not directly to the residents. If there was a "Resident Satisfaction Survey" done by current residents I can bet you that it wouldn't look very promising. Management should understand that the happier the residents the more they wouldn't be soooo desperate for new ones because the old ones will continue to stay put - it's really not rocket science. Instead they choose to screw with the residents, put tickets on their cars (yes their own residents get tickets from PLB and the cost of the ticket $40 is tacked on to your rent). Oh you don't want tickets? Then pay $60 a mo for a "reserved" parking spot. PLB knows that there are not enough parking spaces provided per unit so you are forced to pay for a spot monthly.

Recently in the last 6 months or so PLB decided to move in a business next to me - without notice. A painting and handyman business that operates right next to my apt. Workers are constantly hanging out in the hallway, outside my door, moving things from the storage (which is also in the hallway). See pics. I work nights and try to sleep during the day and all i hear is a door opening and closing constantly, keys jingling in the hallway, and items being moved constantly. I have brought this up to managements attention and nothings been done. I went as far as getting a lawyer to write them a letter and they haven't even replied - this is the kind of customer service a long time resident gets? Amazing! So I even offer to move to a more expensive apt within the complex (to resolve the issue) and I got a response, "Please remember you have a lease" - this is the response I got because I wanted to upgrade from what seems like the outside of a construction company or hardware store to somewhere with a little more peace.

The truth is PLB is soo desperate about maintaining their public image vs how they look from the inside from a residents standpoint (I bet they will respond to this review). Simple solution? Keep your current residents happy and you wont be soo desperate to seek out new ones because you have mistreated your old tenants. This is why your turnover of apartments is very high - you don't seem to care about the residents issues. Learn some customer service skills and stop making the same old excuses like "We have 11,000 residents blah blah blah" - we didn't move in here to hear excuses. Treat us like we matter and maybe, just maybe people like us wouldn't WASTE our precious time & we would actually be satisfied tenants.

I wasn't asking for free TV, Free gas, free parking, etc. I was asking you (as management) to have some common courtesy and address our issues as residents. Have the common courtesy to notify residents when you would be moving a BUSINESS right next door to them - IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? DO WE NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW THAT THERE'S A CONSTRUCTION/PAINTING/CONTRACTOR/HANDYMAN BUSINESS OPERATING NEXT TO US? How would you feel if I moved in a similar business next door to you? How would you feel when every time you looked through your peephole there are people standing outside your door? Annoying right?

We need new management that actually CARES about current residents.

Im living in a tower apartment. Ive had an over-all great experience living here and plan on staying an additional two years. They keep it very clean. I never see an area that isnt perfectly trimmed and litter-free. The best landscaping is around the garden apartments. Its well kept and everyone keeps their porch and patio unique, full of assorted flowers and plants. Theft is not a problem if youre parked within the complex. Maintenance is prompt. Ive never seen a roach. Ants will appear after it rains heavily but only in areas where theres food.

I like Park La Brea, its huge so it has its disadvantages (what doesn't) but for the price and location I think its a great deal. I didnt have problems with the leasing office or feel like they were misleading. Of course the models are pristene- they have designer furniture and great views, of course- they are sales tools. I have a tower apartment- its pretty big

I am a ex-resident of Park Labrea, and I still have friends that live there. Park Labrea is one of the most unique properties that I have ever seen. The park like setting along with upcoming additions: Movie Theater and a new high-tech conference room make this place an oasis in the center of LA. There location is premiere. Across from the Grove and across from Pan Pacific Park makes it idea for a person like me who is active and likes sports ie baseball, basketball. I highly recommend it.

My experience here and at the visitor center has always been great. Sylvie, the supervisor, has extensive computer knowledge and is always most gracious about sharing that knowledge and competence with "un-tech" savvy people like me. On a scale of 1-10, I would give an 11 as to willingness, competence & courtesy.

I paid $35 a month for a basement storage cage, (which was free when I first moved in), and I had stored some nice furniture. Normally I would not have stored my furniture, but since my new roommate had already lived in the unit for a year and he had already furnished the common living areas, I had to store my stuff. I paid storage rent for almost 4 years on the cage, and when I last checked my cage, I discovered that they had emptied it and thrown out all of my furniture & etc. After being passed off to several different Park LaBrea departments/people, I finally found out that their records were in error and had a different cage number than the one I had used for 4 years. For some reason they were checking the cages and they thought mine was being used without their permission, so they trashed everything.

When I finally found someone in their office to help me, I was told to fill out a complaint form. I listed the nicer items I could remember and estimated very low replacement costs. Their response was an email from their attorneys, telling me that I needed to give them copies of receipts and pictures of the items I was claiming. Tough to do for antique-ish items like the old oak dining table and chairs I had gotten from my Grandmother. She is now dead, so it would be difficult for me to get the receipt from her, plus good old furniture may have appreciated in the past hundred years. Their attorneys asking for receipts and pictures, of course, was a way for Park LaBrea to throw up a road block in front of me...they did not even offer me a lower compensation amount...I got nothing.

Summary: I paid them approximately $1,500 over 4 years to store items that they threw out. My storage cage was emptied 4 months before I found out that my stuff was gone, so I asked them to give me back the $140 I had paid after they trashed my stuff, plus the additional 5 months they continued to charge me of $175 while I was trying to get this resolved. Guess what, they could not refund the $315 I paid for these 9 months after the cage was emptied, because I did not notify them in writing to cancel the storage cage. I was so nave, that I thought that at least after I told them they had thrown out all of my belongings that they would realize that the storage rent should no longer be charged...silly me.

first of all, everyone is right about the roach problems, and the rats, and the horrible staff, etc.

heres my story :

-If you are planning on living here, management will NOT care about anything you have to say.

-Your guests cars WILL be towed unless you get some useless pass from the front that NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT. but they're happy to give you the tow companys number and try to 'help" get your car back, when in fact they're the ones who call it in.

-THE MANAGEMENT IS TERRRRRRRRRRRRIIBBLLEEEEEE

-because the walls are so thin, you can hear EVERYTHING going on next door. I'm RIDICULOUSLY OVERPAYING and i can't even have sex in here without someone complaining. let alone a small get together, or god forbid we want to watch a basketball game in here, the security will show up in minutes...pathetic. even if everything is at a reasonable volume.

-the parking is a NIGHTMARE. If you want you own spot you have to PAY EXTRA. if not, good luck, parking is usually pretty light during the day. but if you come after sun down itll take miles of circling around, getting annoyed, and walking back 6 blocks to your house. hopefully you dont experience this after grocery shopping.

-laundry machines work great if you have good bomb defusal skills.

-worst of all. the STAFF here... they are all underpaid, undereducated, under qualified, neanderthals.

all in all, This is one of the WORST places to lease/rent. absolutely horrible. i would give it negative starts if i could

and i wish more people spoke out about the conditions here.

I lived here from Nov 2008 until Mar 2010. I must say, I loved the area, I love the view, I must admit that I did like our apartment, but it really ends there. After being suckered in by the beautiful facade shown to us by our leasing agent, my gf and I signed a one year lease. Compared to where we were before (Koreatown), this was heaven.

However, after shaking the hell that was Koreatown and settling in to PLB, we started to notice that it was not exactly heaven. There was nickle and diming fees for god knows what on every statement that came in. Then, on a several times a day basis, the elevators would shut down and they'd take forever to come repair them, this was their relaxed attitude with any repair though. But the all around worst part was the parking. We would not leave our home if we got a parking space because it was hell to get one again if you gave it up. I have literally driven around for more than an hour coming home late at night just because I wanted to park my car. There's nowhere to park!!!! Ironic for a place called "Park" La Brea.

Now picture this: Driving home from work in LA traffic for 1 to 2 hours, then getting home and fighting other people for a parking space for another 45 mins, driving in circles repeatedly. You give the finger a few times as other frustrated motorists swoop in on spots that you signaled for. Then, you finally park, extremely far from your apt cuz it's the only spot you can get, then, you have groceries with you. You finally walk the half mile to your building, and both elevators are shut down with a crowd in the lobby waiting around. Now haul your heavy groceries up the stairwell to the 12th floor, cuz it's you're only choice if you want to be home. No wonder my gf and I would come home pissed off every day.

Then, when we finally moved out, we had a discrepancy about them charging us an extra few days. (their "how to move out" brochure says return your keys to the leasing office between mon-fri, we moved out on a Saturday and returned the keys on the first available day, that Monday. They charged us for that Sunday since we still had the keys on that day regardless of the fact that their pamphlet states mon-fri.) After calling 8 million times (all unsanswered) and making 30 thousand trips to the leasing office to settle this, they finally gave me a claim form to fill out. I couldn't just hand it to them though, no, that's too easy. I had to fax it to them (even though I was standing right where it was getting faxed to). So I took a time machine back to 1993 when people actually owned fax machines, faxed the stupid paper, and got my money back many weeks later. This is just one detailed example of the way they work with you as a tenant.

Oh yeah, and the security is a joke, just ghetto hip hop kids in stupid hats that don't care. I reported a car getting broken into while it was happening, they said they'd send someone right away. 20 mins later some young security guard walks up to about 200 feet away from where the situation happened, stopped, and turned around. Thorough investigation if you ask me.

On top of all this, I started to notice a couple cockroaches in our building just in the last couple weeks before we moved out. They were constantly out there spraying other units on the opposite end of our building (I asked the workers what they were spraying for), and I noticed one small roach in our place. I'm glad we dodged that bullet by moving out just in the knick of time.

The amenities are not free, and they're way over priced. You could get a real gym membership for way less than what PLB charges for that dinky little room.

They charged us for that Sunday since we still had the keys on that day regardless of the fact that their pamphlet states mon-fri.) The management and service don't care. They will not answer their phones or call you back. They will take months to acknowedge or fix emergencies!

I would give it 0 stars, but the ratings force me to select at least one freaking star!

The parking is horrendous. Many times, there are no parking spots left. I even had my car towed twice even though they knew I was a tenant and had to park at the 30min area because there were no spots left!

Management is so smart. They removed parking spots to move the lighting closer to the street. Yes, you can move the lighting closer to the street without the lighting having to be IN THE FREAKING STREET! Oh yeah, did I tell you there were no places to park!??!!

I am not the kind of person who has high expectations for my living situations. There's a lot of stuff I will put up with. Park La Brea has the rare honor of pushing my patience and sanity to the brink. I am moving out of this place by the end of the month. Here's why:

1. It's noisy. Not only are the walls thin (I can hear my neighbors turning on their faucets -- it creates a very alarming screeching sound), but you can hear all the fantastic sounds of life such as piano playing at 10 PM, people shouting at each other in the parking lots, and babies crying and screaming. Despite it all, I can stand this.

2. The maintenance people don't give a crap. I've had many, MANY encounters with them. They come, leave a note (actually giving you proof that they stayed and worked for 5 minutes tops), and peace out. Whatever. I can stand this.

3. Maintenance issues abound. I've been here for two and a half months. I've had: A/C leak, roof leaks, dishwasher leaks, fire alarm going off at 2 AM for no reason, and so on. Fine. I'll deal with this.

4. The last thing -- the ONE thing I cannot handle -- is the roaches. Not singular. Not just a couple here and there. Many. A colony, if you will. We're not dirty. And it's not just our apartment. It's our BUILDING, according to the letter we got from PLB. They fumigated. Told us to wait. It got worse by a lot. Told them to come again. They came and left a roach motel. Thanks. You got maybe 5% of them. Now we only have, oh, 15 crawling around the kitchen floor instead of the usual 20. There's a Youtube video if you search for Park La Brea that demonstrates the issue very clearly, though for us, a little too late.

DO NOT move here. You'd be paying to live in hell. I don't care if you're poor or can't afford better housing. You're better off in a shabby hole in the wall because it's the same conditions for less money.

Pros: Pretty on the outside

Cons: Everything else

Park La Brea...don't get tempted to move in here by its outer beauty. Because once you move in, you are in a hell. You will have to live with mouses and flies. I had 2 mouses found in my garden apartment and the pest control folks found few open holes in the apartment. I don't expect such quality after paying $2000 rent. Its the worst place ever. Even the lesser priced apartments are much better than this. The maintenance staff takes weeks or even months to service maintenance complaints. To meet anyone at leasing office, you need to make appointments which takes days. Basically there are 4200 apartments, but the staff for everything here is meagre, so all the issues crop up. Tower apartments are more pathetic, the laundry area has 12 washers compared to 144 tenants in each building. You have to queue up to wash clothes. There are only 2 elevators in tower of 144 apartments. Most of the times, 1 elevator does not work. The trash area in the tower is near the laundry area and its pathetic to pass from that place everytime u do laundry. people steal your laundry clothes, if u don't pick them on time. Its the most pathetic apartment ever and I hate this place and would recommend anyone thinking about moving here, to think twice about the future problems.

Park La Brea is a Joke dont let the views fool you. The security they have here (Sky Security) does nothing. This place is over run by a group of unruly skateboarders that do what they want from fight in the streets around Alandele Circle to throwing stones at cars going by. I have even seen them throw basketballs off from the top of the buildings, complained and told i have to prove it somehow before they can do anything. All this has been reported to Park La Brea security and nothing has been done. A guest staying with me was robbed in the middle of the day inside this gated community and it took security 20 min to respond. I have been stuck in the elevator for 45 min before it started running again. Neighbors have had their locked storage rooms broken into and all their items looted. Items regularly stolen out of the washing machines especially bedsheets. STAY AWAY.....
