.

HD sent a technician to my home to trouble shoot the install of a sump pump by a friend. I was billed $262.92 and the pump install was pronounced a success. One month later, the basement flooded with sewage. Upon calling HD, I was informed that I had either (a) bought a defective pump or (2) bought the wrong pump. Since we had removed the original-which ran beautifully for over 15 years-- and took it to a commercial plumbing supply, who replaced it exactly, that was highly unlikely. I spoke directly with the HD employee who did the install and called Ferguson, in Portland, where I bought the pump. After Ferguson spoke with the plumber, they ascertained that he was not knowledgable and I was directed to another plumbing company. They came out, discovered that the pump had burned up because the HD technician neglected to drill a 5/8" weep hole. As a result, I had to buy a second new pump in less than 30 days, and pay for another install. At this point, I am out over $1000.00, if you include the clean-up costs. HD refuses liability, telling me the owners are out of town, then now they are back and only come in 2-3x per month, again with the I bought the wrong pump, the pump was the wrong one for the purpose, etc. It is very disturbing to think that people like this can stay in business.
