A review should be informative and simply saying something is excellent is just as much of a disservice to readers as it is to say something bad without explanation. With that in mind, this is a detailed review.

A note upfront:

Regarding the NC State Childcare Star rating: Can you attend a 1 star daycare and get outstanding care, certainly, but the odds are stacked against it and research has proven that. The higher the rating, the higher educated and experienced teachers your child will be exposed to. Ask any 5 star daycare if it is worth the rating and they will say it makes all the difference for their business. Ask a 1 star rating daycare and they will come up with any excuse to justify not going through the rating system to save money for their wallets and time.

My experience at Wake Forest Kids are Kids:

To begin, we did not have any issues at this 1 star daycare while our child was in the newborn or 1 year old rooms. They had fabulous teachers that tended to the children's needs and I'd even say the teachers were rather clever in many ways.

Once our child was in either the 1 1/2 and 2 year old rooms, various issues started to develop for various reasons. Most issues were minor, but the 2 big issues (biting and neglect) effectively made us lose total confidence in this facility.

One of the 1 1/2 year old teachers was fired shortly after the state investigated a complaint and that lead to 2 new inexperienced teachers who had their backs to the children for a majority of the time. This created excessive biting issues (up to 3 bites/week for several children) and was brought to the attention of the Director. She didn't offer any solutions to help stem the biting problem, only that the biting occurs, and just as quick as it occurs, it then disappears. The situation was resolved (or at least greatly diminished) after a call to KidsRKids corporate office, when a 3rd person was assigned to the room.

The final issue of neglect that actually made us leave this daycare was shortly after a wonderful teacher left and a new teacher was assigned into the 2 year old room. We found our 2 year old child on video with her pants and underwear down to her ankles for a half hour, standing right outside the bathroom or sitting with her bare butt on the bathroom floor when she couldn't pull her pants up. The teachers were less than 10 feet away from her but were too busy talking to assist with pulling up pants. This appears to be the standard care of children as when we questioned the teachers, they had no idea what we were talking about. When this was brought to the owner's attention all he could simply say is he actually thought maybe the teachers were using some sort of teaching method and did not offer an apology.

Check with the NC state licensing agency as they have been out to this daycare in 2014 for several complaints or have found many violations (eg. neglect, inappropriate language by teachers, threats to kill a child, director holding a child against their will, etc).

Since our move to another facility we have found out that the star rating does matter. Our child attends a 5 star daycare, where all the teachers have their early childhood degrees and several years of experience. The parents are well informed of the curriculum, the menus and schedules. The school also personally takes accountability of all activities done on site (Tumble Bus, etc.) comply with the state laws. Wake Forest KidsRKids was not doing any of that when we were.

We were very fortunate that our bad experience did not forever harm our child and has actually led us to higher quality care. For a 1 star facility, they are charging about $60/week too much. Other day cares in the area who are a 5 star, charge the same price and have wait lists.

In summary, if you are looking for quality care, be very wary of anything less than 4-5 stars. There is no reason to pay for 5 star quality to a 1 star facility.

I love this place. I won't call it a daycare or even a preschool as it offers so much more. My son started there in the preschool class after removing him from a terrible daycare that said he was "uncontrollable". After just a month at this place, he was back to his usual, happy self. We have continued to bring our son here for track out camps and after school care when needed and they always welcome us back with open arms. I refer to this wonderful business as a "magical place" as my son always feels so happy, relaxed, and well taken care of when he's there. I will never use another daycare facility so long as I live in this area! And for those who didn't like it, go somewhere else so we can keep Kids R Kids in Wake Forest a happy place!!

I had to come back and update my review because I just heard that my sons school scored 100% on their review and Ms. Janine won NC Director of the Year. I am so proud to have my son attend Kids R Kids. I know he receives the absolute best in care and always surprises our friends with how much he knows. This was the best choice my family made.

Before I found Kids 'R' Kids, I had decided to it would be better to stay at home than place my son in any other school. The teachers are so knowledgeable and work along with you as part of your family. We get daily reports and can see everything that happens with their webcams. The director regularly checks in on our family, and even sits down with me when I have questions or concerns. Not only is the place clean, but my child also gets lessons even in his toddler classroom.
The prior post saddens me because the school has been so wonderful. If I could I would delete their nasty words because those "old" teachers are amazing and the front staff know everything about my child's day.

Wake Forest Kids R Kids is not a good daycare! Don't be fooled by the nice facility. Most of the teachers are nice but some are older and have no patience with the children. I observed on a regular basis during drop off hours, children being yelled at and spoken to in a rude manner in the cafeteria. The classrooms are nice and clean. It is not a 5 star school so they don't follow a lot of the policies that are important with that kind of rating. More importantly, the director is not a nice person at all. DO NOT go to her with a complaint! You will get no where and she will make you feel stupid for even coming to her about a concern!! She is not friendly or comforting which should be a requirement when running a daycare facility with young children!!

My daughter who will be turning eight this year went to this school when she was three and has had a horrible experience. She was treated very unfair by one of the lead teachers and has a bad self image because of it. She gets very upset when she talks about her time there. If I could take anything back, I wish that I would have never sent her to this school.

Love it. Very happy with the care my son gets. I use it for after school care and track out. I like that I can pay weekly according to the days he is there and they don't ask me to pay when he is not there unlike other programs. They help with homework after school which is a big help for working parents and kids involved in sports. Lots to do for school age kids, video games, indoor games and a huge fenced yard for ourdoor play. They have a great program that includes daily trips which are included in the cost. Very clean and safe environment. I have peace of mind while my son is there.

We found this to be a happy, colorful and loving center. Offering everything from infant to school age care. There curriculum is dynamic and well thought out and the teachers are pros at executing the daily plans. The school is very progressive with a cafe that kids eat balanced meals in (breakfast & lunch). My husband and I enrolled our 3 year old and school ager after our first tour. You need to see this place!! Price was high compared to where we're from, however in comparison to all area pre-schools it was in line. You get what you pay for and I have peace of mind with the cameras too.

They offer daycare for infants through elementary school. The building is large with classrooms, lunch room gym and study like room with huge playroom areas. The play areas are separated into different age groups to minimize accidents. Their goal is for education through fun with great teachers. THey even offer webcams to "see" your child during the day. It is a little pricey but convenient.
