buying my suby from Ken was a blast! this was the first "new" car i've ever purchased and i thought i would be more nervous about it. but after some research on my options and dealing with ken, i couldn't be more stoked about my decision! ... i would recommend carr subaru and ken eby to anyone. he is a solid guy; very helpful & informative and he did a phenomenal job to get me exactly what i was looking for, at the best deal. suby represent! ... thanks ken!!! ;-)

I bought my first Subaru from Ken almost 3 months ago and by far it was my best car buying experience ever. He's not only a true sales professional, but also a good guy. I have had the pleasure of working with Ken Eby at Carr Subaru three times. We began our car purchasing partnership about seven years ago when I purchased my first Subaru. I did some shopping around and spoke with a few other car dealers before deciding to work exclusively with Ken. He seemed very to the point and down to earth from the beginning. He gave me a very fair trade in value and a great price on the new car. As a matter of fact, because the first deal went so well and because I purchased Subarus thereafter, I have been able to carry the equity forward on all three deals. My next purchase was about three years ago when I decided to downsize and get rid of the soccer mom mobile. He was not available on the day that I wanted to test drive the car so I decided to test drive at another local Subaru dealer, who shall remain nameless, and drive the car. I was very upfront with them and explained that I just wanted to test drive the car. Of course they felt compelled to try to sell it to me and I told them they had less than an hour. I told them what I wanted to spend, what I knew my trade was worth, etc. Not only did they not have the car in stock, but they completely wasted my time trying to strong arm me into spending too much on the new car and only offering me about 50% of what the trade was worth. They called in three people to try to belittle me and treat me like an uninformed little lady. I walked, went home, left Ken a message that I would be over to see him the next day, told him what I wanted my payment to be, etc. The next day I walked into Ken's office, signed the papers, and left with my car for exactly what I wanted to spend. It truly was that simple. The other dealer called me two days later and asked if I had thought about the car anymore. I said yes I did, and I bought it from Carr Subaru, for $6000 less..... The dead silence on the other end of the phone was priceless. My most recent purchase was about two months ago. My previous car had been totaled in an unfortunate accident by my neighbor. Ken was one of the first people I called. He helped me with a lot of things, including some very great advice. With the help of Ken and others, I was able to get the insurance company to actually pay me what the car was worth (and still recoup the equity from that very first trade). I purchased my new car in the same manner that I purchased the first two and I could not be happier. If you want an easy, straightforward car buying experience, go see Ken Eby at Carr Subaru.

Trusting a car salesman is like letting a kleptomaniac into your home and not expecting anything to go missing.
You really should go into the car buying experience with that sense of distrust just to make sure they don't screw you over. And you have to be stubborn. . .very stubborn. I went in with that attitude and sure enough there were many false promises, flat out lies and sneaky practices. But they were all nice while trying to screw you over. I'll give them one star for being friendly.
First you deal with the lot salesman who will do whatever he can to get you to stay and start the car buying process. He'll tell you he'll get you what you want for price and trade-in. Tell him you want it in writing.
He hands you off to his manager who says they just can't do those prices as they won't make any money. Essentially, he's trying to get you to pay more so they make more...but he does it in such a way that you almost want to go along with it. Stay alert, stay focused. When he pulls out the KBB print out showing a trade-in value $2000+ less than what you just saw yesterday, call him on it (even better have your own copy). Walk out if they won't (he'll renegotiate - repeat as necessary). Have copies of prices from other buying services - credit union, USAA, CostCo. Make them match it. Confirm your interest rate. If the salesman told you a special interest rate, they better give you that. GET ALL OF THIS IN WRITING!!!
Once you've survived that, you move on to the financial guy. You expect you've been through the worst, but this is the guy that can really get you. He'll try to get you to buy extended warranties, paint protector, etc... Read the contract very carefully for all details - this is where they fudge the numbers. My guy tried to throw in a mysterious $1395 charge - when I pointed it out he tried to pass it off as part of a maintenance package which I showed him was covered on another line - he blabbed on a while but in the end removed it (yes, he was trying to throw in $1395 charge for nothing - just extra money for the dealership). They also put on the contract 1.9% interest (the agreed rate) but charged me 2.9%.
In the end, I got a good car at a reasonable price and decent trade-in value. That's why they get the second star. BUT, they are very very untrustworthy people. I can't recommend them because of that.

Ken Eby has a five star rating as far as I'm concerned. The thing
that I like about Ken is you don't have to put up with the normal
BS when going to a car dealer. My feeling is that he is honest, fair and efficient. This last purchase was the third Outback I purchased from him and every time it was a pleasure.

My wife and I went to Carr Subaru to look at a new Subaru Outback. Ken told us that we were eligible for a corporate discount (saved us $$$$ that the dealership COULD have had), then after an overview of the vehicle, tossed us the keys and said "take it for a drive and see what you think". He walked back to his office, and my wife and I went for a nice test drive.

We bought the vehicle for a GREAT price an hour later.

I contacted them by e-mail, as I live outside the Portland area but visit fequently for business. I had done a good bit of research and let them know exactly what I was looking for (2010 Cypress Green Outback limited) and what I wanted to pay. I also informed them that I was coming in from out of town and didn't want to spend much time getting the deal handled.

They met my all of my needs very well. The car I was looking for was not easy to find. I hunted dealerships up and down the west coast, they had one that was "in transit". We handled what we could before hand, when I arrived I was greeted very kindly by Christian Manz who I had been in contact with. I was then taken to inspect the car I had requested which had just been delivered. It was exactly what I had requested. I took it for a test drive, signed the paper work, and was on my way.

Clean, easy transaction. I am thoroughly satisfied and I would definitely consider doing business with them again when I need another vehicle.

I purchased a new 2000 Subary Legacy from Carr Subaru and drove it almost 300,000 miles before it was totaled in an accident a few months ago. I then purchased a 2010 Subaru and have had nothing but the best experience with Carr Auto Group. The salesman in each case was highly professional and each purchase was completed in a very professional manner. I have always had my cars serviced at Carr Subaru and again the persons there have been of great help. I would highly recommended the Carr Auto Group for any purchase or service.

Fleet manager Christian Manz provided excellent and professional service. He was very knowledgable, kind and helpful during this stressful time in my life. I worked with Christian Manz throught the internet sales group and could not have asked for an easier buying experence. Even though I delayed buying a new car for several months, Christian would check in monthly to make sure I was still intersted, when it was the right time, he had the car ready for my test drive at the scheduled tme, I showed up and he handed me the keys. When I came back an hour later, the whole transaction took about 2.5 hrs most of which was waiting for the car to detailed. I have recomended him to others looking for subarus and would go back to him without hesitation.

I had a good experience dealing with Christian, i went well equipped with trade in price, and dealer cost and bought a new 2010 Legacy in 15 minutes. no sweat no problems, all in all a good deal and a great car, best milage around for an all wheel drive car. I have obtained 31.5 mpg on a road trip and it wasn't even broke in yet love the new cvt transmission.

Well, I have only good things to say about Carr Subaru. I have bought (e.g. financed) two Subarus via them, both with Ken Eby. First was an 08' STi and after about 5 months I realized that an Outback turbo was what I should have gotten. I am not sure Ken could have made this easier. He found one of the last 5-spd XTs in the USA, he made the paperwork easy and the transition smooth. Getting the STi in the first place was just as simple (and I mean simple, try 10 emails and 20min of paper work).

Parts dep. has always been reliable and patient as I have asked of them many times to look up parts for me and have always come through on the parts I need. I used to have a 04" wrx wagon which is why I was needing parts.

I do most of my general car service myself, but the few times Carr has serviced my vehicle there have been no issues and getting their shuttle to and from work for just a oil change goes beyond convenient.

So my experience with Carr overall has been very positive and I encourage anyone reading not to be put-off by the negative reviews.

I recommend them highly -- and the same goes for their service department: completely honorable, conscientious, and a pleasure to do business with. By a very wide margin this is the best dealership I have ever dealt with (quite a contrast to a certain Honda operation not far away...)

I purchased a 2010 Subaru Impreza from Carr Subaru. It was the easiest car buying experience I've ever had! The dealer, Ken Eby, and finance person I worked with were great and made me feel very comfortable while I was there. I've recommended Carr Subaru to many friends; and Ken Eby that assisted me. I love my Subaru Impreza. I've received so many compliments from friends on my new car. Friends that already have a Subaru tell me how I'll enjoy how it handles in the snow. I have never had better customer service anywhere for any product. There was no hassle and I felt no pressure to purchase the vehicle. I tell everybody interested in buying a Subaru to contact Ken at Carr Subaru! He can offer better prices than any dealership around. I drive from the Oregon coast to Carr Subaru in Beaverton (about 80 miles one way) for all of my service needs even just oil changes. I will continue to do all of my business with Carr in the future!!!

What a great experience! Seldom in my life have I seen such attention to detail, not only in the construction of the car but in how the customer is dealt with. The internet sale went exactly as represented. There was no high pressure salesmanship, even when I vascilated in my choices and delayed my purchase. Instead, I received prompt and useful information when I needed and wanted it. I took delivery in late July during 100 degree plus weather. Unknown to me, while I was inside signing papers, Ken Eby had the car running outside with the air conditioner on so that I would not step into a hot car. I stepped into a cool cabin in 100+ weather with the trip odometer zeroed ,correct time on the clock, car idling with the tank full and ready to be driven off. You don't get any better than that! Thanks again Ken Eby and Carr Subaru. As a follow up comment: Routine maintanence appointments have shown the same level of attentiveness and striving for customer satisfaction.

I did not deal with the regular sales staff but went through the internet sales department. I knew the car I wanted and had delt with numerous Subaru dealerships in the area getting quotes and Carr was the the lowest from the start and no dealership in the area could beat the price I recieved from them at the start. In fact I was told by other dealerships that if that is "really" the quote I got at Carr I should take it...so I did. The sales member I worked with also worked hard to aquire the car I wanted which was not available on the lot or even in Portland at that time. He was honest, straight forward, and did not go back on the quote I recieved in the first place once I decided to go with Carr. In the end I got the car I wanted at the price I wanted and couldn't be happer with the result

Great dealership with great people. Normally buying a car from a dealership is painful and tedious, but that wasnt the case when we bought our Forester from Carr. They were all very nice and worked with us to get exactly the car my wife wanted. When it was time to finance, they went through and explained the paperwork and didnt flinch at all the questions we asked, just smiled and answered. I WILL be buying from Carr again when its time for a new Subaru.

I ran across this Carr Subaru review by accident. Funny how when someonehas a bad experience at a retail establishment they tell 10, 15,even 20 people. I was driving through Portland while on vacation and I had
a problem with the idling of the car. I had brought the car to the mechanic prior to the vacation, but obviously they did not fix it properly. I brought the car in at 10:30am, obviously without an appointment. they said I had to had to wait a couple of hours before they could look at it
and figure out what the problem was. they called around 1pm saying that they found something broken and they would fix that for less than $180. they called again a bit later saying that the idle problem was still there and there was something else, that would cost another $90. at 3pm it was ready (they had road tested it too). when they were bringing the car to me they noticed that the batttery was dying out. they said it would recharge if I drove it for a while. they did not offer to replace it. I did have it replaced it anyway, for $98, since I was going through national parks, with lots of stops, so they replaced it in another half an hour or so.
when I paid they gave me a document with an extensive description of what was done to the car, I liked that a lot.
I was very happy that they were able to fix a problem that the LA mechanic charged me $500 for not fixing. the staff was very courteous and professional. I would go to them again.

I take it in for the extended warranty and they are saying that this issue led to that issue which in turn caused blah blah. So I have to shell out a 1000 bucks for the repairs and the warranty is covering the other 1300. This car had those problems from the begining and I know I own a nice lemon. I really regret doing business with them. It feels like the warranty company and the dealership have a special "shady" relationship!
