How is this place staying in business? Maybe they have major parties on Friday/Saturday nights?!

The owners won't tell the staff anything, like "we didn't bother to order some of the stuff on the limited Father's Day menu"... Until the poor staff has to find out as the (few) customers order something!

Don't dare have any celebration there! They not only don't go out of their way for you, they do NOTHING to make the event better, and then somehow overcharge you (multiple times)... And then fight with you over the refund!

Trying to talk with the owners about how you'd like to be treated decently is like talking to the bread!

We wonder WHAT'S keeping them in business?!!

This is the worst place in Sacramento, the food is horrible. They try to say its "fine dinning" but there is nothing classy about this place.Everything we ordered was out and when they finally did have something on the money is was thecheapest ingredients you could fine. When we talked to the "manager" it at made sense. The owners susan and jim are the most greedy and classless people I have ever met. The food was terrible, and the people running the place are unscrupulous, greedy . One word TRASH!!

Excellent Bloody Mary's and a good bruch. The eggs on the Egg's Benedict were poached well and the meal was tasty. There was a really good live band, the Oliver Rosenthal band, playing during brunch. I read other reviews before posting mine stating the Bloody Mary's were bad. They must have new bartender, as ours were very tasty.

Whoa. I should have read reviews before I went there. 'Strangely' after I got home and googled it, there were TERRIBLE reviews out there! All of the bad reviews were entirely true, maybe even sugar-coated. I don't even know where to begin... Perhaps it should be with the admission from our server that that place is bad. ?? Huh ?? I blame the dirty, tasteless, gross, dingy, overall disturbing and sickening experience on myself for not (1) checking reviews, and (2) not heeding our server's advice and leaving before ordering. If you're reading this, don't waste your money on WAAAAAY over-priced and terrible food/drink like I did!

if you watch ramsey kitchen nightmares, youll understand what he feels and how upset how get gets on the show. when ramsey walks into a restuarants like the one on his show. invited for a birthday party. we passed chevys, which was packed to the brink. entering the bridge, I wondered why there 3 or 4 cars. espcially on a memorial day weekened.Excellent location and view of the river. This place should be packed. the decors is slightly dated, the corona beer unbrella's are tacky for a restuarant of such prices. Ok. the interior had a dusty, unclean feel. like it needed a complete dust and wash down. the carpet entering was dirty. no bread with butter, something while we waited a half hour for food. . I ordered the pizzia. others ordered the rizotto. chicken, ect. a party of 8, 4 were served. 4 had to wait for their food. at least 10 minutes., so some were eating already,. the guest of honor was waiting for her food. fries were bag friends, friend complained of barely getting any rizotto for 16 dollars and was still hungry. I had a pizzia which you could tell the sauce was spoiled. i can tell when food is rotten. 9 dollars for a 3 dollar pizzia.veggies were bag veggies chicken that was told was flat and dry. once the waitress knew their were a party of 8. the 20% tip was automatic, so she just came and went.almost like yeah whatever. lousy service. i think the reviewer who gave this place high marks was given 100 bucks or somethin.

The view of the river is fantastic. We have always stayed inside (on the second floor), but think because highway 80 is near the outside seating might be a bit noisy.
The food is always good. Have tried several different meals and have not been disappointed yet.
Service is always good.

All of us sent our Bloody Mary's back, red colored water with Vodka. The menu does not describe the meal accurately. Did you know that hollandaise sauce has 1/3 part tobasco? Neither did we! And the menu should have stated so - I expressed how embarrassed I was that I brought friends here - they all said their food was terrible, dry, not at all what they had expected. I shared this with the owner/ manager Jim (he was busy drinking at the bar.) He said it was our fault, we didn't arrive at the same time - true - it was within minutes of each other. I guess that negatively impacts the chef, and explains the description on the menu. He offered us a gift certificate for our next visit. I declined, and requested some money back.. first he said yes, then he said no. Better food is in a vending machine -

The food took too long, the portions were small, and our waiter didn't seem to have a clue when we asked him to recommend a wine for our meal. The only truley enjoyable part of our evening was the view. Definitly would not go back!

When I saw the reviews for Bridges on the River on this site, I couldn?t believe what I had just read. I too have been to Bridges on the River numerous times and each time I go it gets even better. The service at Bridges is wonderful. All of the servers are friendly and give great service. And the food is to die for. I am a big fan of steak and I just love their Rib Eye. My husband always orders their fresh fish. He has tried their salmon and halibut as well as their fish specials and all have been very good. Now Bridges on the River is even having summer concerts on the weekends. It is so nice just sitting out there by the water and listening to the music. Bridges on the River is one of my favorite restaurants and I would tell anyone who has had a bad experience to try it again because it they don?t then they are really missing out.

My wife and I heard that Bridges on the River was the best restaurant in the area from our hotel's Concierge so we decided to give it a try. What a disaster! The restaurant is in a large home that overlooks the river. We were seated quickly, even without a reservation and our hopes were high for a good experience. Wrong! We were ignored by our waiter after being seated. When he finally got around to us we ordered our sodas, which he brought us, then ignored us again. Eventually, he came to take our order. We had overheard him telling others at a table nearby about the evening's specials. He didn't bother to tell us. When we asked about the specials, he told us and took our order. Having seen a plate of nut-encrusted halibut (a huge portion) delivered to a lady at the adjacent table, I decided to have that. My wife ordered the ribeye steak with brown rice. She was told that they didn't have brown rice, but jasmine rice would be substituted. Both of our orders were menu items. Then began the interminable wait. After about 30 minutes, he came by and said it will be another 5 or 6 minutes. It was more than 20 minutes later that our food arrived. My halibut was the smallest little fillet I've ever seen and was over cooked. The steamed spinach that was supposed to accompany this entree, and which was in abundance on my neighbor's plate, was missing completely. When I asked about it I was told that they didn't have any spinach and would I like to order a side of spinach? What?! My wife's jasmine rice turned out to be some white rice glop that had the consistency of rice pudding and the taste of paste. Upon complaining to our waiter about the food, the service and the wait, we were presented with a gift certificate that could be used that evening and covered about half of the bill. A neighboring table also received a gift certificate that evening since they also complained. Be warned, don't go.

I had heard great reviews from folks including my sister so decided to go there with the family for my birthday dinner. It is located right on the river at a nice location. It is a large restaurant with nice ambiance. The food was disappointing however, given the price and its reputation. Since this was a semi-family affair, I was able to at least taste most of the dishes (there were 8 people). All of the dishes fell into the overcooked category (the pastas, fish, etc..., even the steaks). The steaks were ribeyes, usually my favorite, but Bridges, at least that night used the thin cuts which in itself was dissapointing because of the price, but the thin cut may have contributed to the overcooking as well in the case of the ribeyes.

I've continued to see good reviews of Bridges, but my experience wasn't so great. I was expecting much better. How can a nice restaurant overcook pasta, fish, and ribeyes?

Pros: location, ambience, and parking all good

Cons: food, the main reason of course, not so good; service was average
