We always enjoy an evening at Cafe San Miguel because of the delicious food, great drinks, and friendly atmosphere. Not average TexMex but more like Mexico City continental. The owners are usually there so that everything runs smoothly. We have eaten everything on the menu and love it all. Don't go away without having the apple churros for dessert!

Cafe San Miguel has one of the most fun atmospheres and I've always enjoyed the food! You absolutely must get some of their homeade tortillas with guacamole. I love their pomegranate margaritas! After dinner, you can go to Barcadia or Slip Inn!

Service was slow, eventhough the restaurant wasn't full. The tacos were expensive and are not the best I've tried. Churros were good, but for sure I'm not coming back only for their churros.

I am unsure how anyone could have a bad experience here... every single visit of the over 20 I have had, was fantastic! If you go, you have to try the Ceviche' as well as the Queso Fundido, and the Tres Leches Cake (dare I say it's better than La Duni's?) By far the most authentic, great tasting food, and the Pomegranate Margaritia's are worth a try as well. Over the weekends you'll find that you'll need to make a reservation, but during the week, you can easily walk in and get a seat. The restaurant layout is more for fun with your significant other or friends than a romantic night out... and the decor is very well thought out. My boyfriend and I make it out to the restaurant AT LEAST once a month, and when you're a regular, the owners and managment notice. Overall, this is a great place to eat, with a fun causal atmosphere. Cheers!

Today I visited Cafe San Miguel for the first time with friends - the occasion was my birthday. We had a perfectly wonderful lunch (I highly recommend the Enchiladas de Bistec!). The food was wonderful, the atmosphere and decor very authentically Mexican - I visit San Miguel de Allende every year. At the end of our lunch, without comment, our waiter placed before me a heavenly big slice of Tres Leches cake, beautifully served with drizzles of chocolate sauce on the plate, and a strawberry cut to look like a rose - also, forks enough for all five of us.

My friends were astonished - no one had ordered the cake, and the only visible signs to any observer that it was my birthday was that my friends, who arrived before me, made a comment about saving a seat for "the birthday girl", and I opened a small wrapped gift before lunch. The waiter had simply OBSERVED what was going on, and very graciously offered the dessert. This waiter is a PRO!! And Cafe San Miguel is a pearl!!

I had not been to eat here in a while and was pleasantly surprised to find that it still is one of the best authentic mexican food restaurants in town. The Aracharra plate was just as I remembered it with the delicious steak and stuffed poblano pepper and the Pomegranite Margarita was delicious and cool not too sweet. The ambience was fun and I had a great time with my friends.

Pros: True Mexican food and great ambience

Cons: Busy on weekends

Went there this weekend, they were celebrating their first year in business. What a surprise when we went inside... Whoa, can they celebrate! The place was buzzing with energy. But the food was still the greatest surprise. Refreshing to find authentic Mexican food and great service. They have a special pomegranate margarita that's out of this world! Can't wait to go back. We learned you can call ahead and get on the wait list.

Went early on a Saturday night. The ONLY thing that was up to par was the expeditious seating by the hostess. Other than that it was a painfully slow dining experience! The server didn't know what types of domestic beers they served. The pomeritas were small and just ok. We ordered guacamole but never got any chips to eat it with. After 25min and numerous requests we finally got our chips. The guacamole was good! The food finally came and was very bland and no flavor to it. Lots of salt only helped a little. The rice was soaked in butter and the refried beans, you had to have a magnifying glass just to see that they were on your plate! Had to ask for water refills. I would hate to be there when they were busy. Do yourself a favor, AVOID!

i have eaten here twice recently; the 1st visit was just OK but the second time we dined here we were pleasantly surprised. the service is personable and the food is generally good quality. i would avoid the giant relleno, though - it is soggy & greasy (other reviews in local publications have said the same thing but i did not read them in time). they have a creative list of cocktails also.

I ordered the Tilapia, and the first bite of the salad on top was great. The dish smelled fishy, and the fish was so salty that it was inedible. The rice under the fish was swimming in oil, and the sauteed vegetables were bitter. I've never before been served anything at a restaurant that went from good to awful in just a few bites.

We had a sudden emergency right before our food came to the table and had to leave pretty much immediatelyin no part because of the restaurant. They were nice and boxed up our food (marking each entree on the boxes) and quickly helped get on our way. I was saddened to have to leave because I found Cafe San Miguel a welcome addition to the area, with the valet parking, fun colors on the walls and nice dark lounge-ish bar area. I like interior Mexican cuisine and enjoyed the waiters enthusiasm in describing the difference. He was proud of it and had a right to be. The food was great and I plan to return so I can get the full presentation. Also, the pomegranate margaritas are very good.

My experience at Cafe San Miguel was a delightful one. I do have to admit, I have been back several times, each time trying something different. The empanadas and tamalitos (mini tamales) are my favorite for appetizers. The ceviche was so fresh and yummy. As for lunch, my favorite are the "Enchiladas con Mole". For dinner, I definitely recommend the "Codorniz en Pipian", which is grilled quail with a cumin pumpkin flavor. Oh, can't forget to mention the salsas. Trust me, you'll like them.
At Cafe San Miguel all the flavors are so well balanced you can taste every flavor in all the dishes.
CSM is known for the pomerita! "A pomegranate margarita" perfect for any occasion.
AND SPREAD THE WORD....Happy Hour is 4-7pm See you there!!

The Red Snapper and Pomegranate Margarita are absolutely the best I have ever had. Not only was I stuffed but I left Cafe San Miguel enjoying the conversation and vibe from the staff. This is by far the best Mexican in Dallas.

I recently attended Cafe San Miguel for my birthday celebration, which consisted of about 25 people. Not only was Hugo, who assisted me during the planning phase, extremely helpful, they made the experience truly enjoyable. Everyone stated their food was authentic, yet yummy! I was drawn to the quaint ambiance of this venue and will definitely return again. The only minute complaint is this place is somewhat hard to find when driving at night, but once you arrive...you cannot help but enjoy it.

I have been to Cafe San Miguel (CSM) twice since it opened, and will continue to go! The food is absolutely delicious and having been to Mexico City more than once, I find the food at CSM is extremely authentic! Our group had the Pescado Frito (WHOLE fried fish) and the grilled quail, both were absolutely wonderful, as was the presentation of the food!
There is a great deal of energy at CSM, perfect for large groups. It is full of noise, life and music, just like at my Abuelitas house! Unlike my Abuelitas house, the crowd is prettier and mainly in their 20s and 30s.
Last but not least, the pomegranate margaritas are simply fabulous!
All in all, the entire experience from beginning to end was top of the line....We're coming back for more!

I was extremely excited to try Cafe San Miguel and
wasn't disappointed at all! Our party of 3
started off with the empanadas and chicken tamalitos
for appetizers, both were fantastic. The
tamalitos were very moist, which isn't easy to
achieve, and the empanadas were fresh and crisp.
Our entrees included the pan-seared red snapper,
the tacos de bistec and the shrimp/beef
medallion combo. Each were delightful and plentiful,
a Mexican tradition. The fish was
exceptional--probably the best snapper this reviewer
has ever had. I was impressed that chayote was listed
on the menu, too. It's a wonderful change to the
norm!
The Pomerita was a great twist on the typical 'Rita.
Both frozen and on the rocks were perfect.
The flan and tres leches cake were both unbelievable desserts! We
can't wait to try the chocolate cake next time.
We will definitely return to Cafe San Miguel soon!

I really enjoyed the food at Cafe San Miguel. The enchiladas and tacos were a little more familiar than I would have liked- I was expecting some pretty authentic interior mexican cuisine. We all ordered entrees (which were more authentic), and were very happy with the food quality. My major complaint with this place is the ambiance- it was more like a very loud diner than a restaurant. The shades were not drawn shut, so you have a not-so-nice view of Henderson Ave (through the bars on the windows). There was very little to absorb the sound (no draperies, etc) so the restaurant was very very loud, even when not all of the tables were full. The pomengranite margaritas were not the best pom margs ever, but pretty good.
