At San Francisco School of Bartending we willingly accept a great deal of responsibility for the personal and financial welfare of our graduates. More than anything, we love to teach. We love to mentor. We love to see a life transformed when they begin work with their newly acquired skills.

We are continuously working to improve our training program. But, occasionally, our client?s expectations are not met. We have trained thousands of bartenders in the past 9 years and care about the success of each and every graduate.

Unfortunately, we don?t have control over the job market or how much effort you are willing to put into your job search when you leave our school. We don?t hand out jobs with your diploma any more than a four-year college would. Legally we can not guarantee each and every graduate a job and don?t make any promises to that effect.

It is up to the individual to take the skills and confidence that we provide and turn that into a job.

The above review is very contrary to almost every other review we have received by our graduates. In fact, it is so inconsistent with the majority of reviews that we felt a response was necessary.

We work hard to provide the best training and job placement in California and possibly the United States. We back up our program with results. We don?t make false or hollow claims about our placement program. We will tell you exactly what it is going to take to get a job in the food and beverage industry.

With that said, I urge you not to judge our school based on one review.

To get a more accurate reflection of the normal results of our program please visit YELP. There you will find reviews that consistently contradict this review. Our reputation in the Bay Area and beyond remains exceptional and has been for nearly ten years.

Thank You,

Mark Hersey, Director

Once I graduated from the SFSOB, I relied on their job placement program and coordinator to help me find a position. They certainly bragged about their connections that, apparently, no one else has. No problem then, right?

Yes, problem. For the first few weeks after graduation, I was on a wild goose chase, taking buses, trains and walking all over the city from bar to bar, hearing the same thing from every single bar manager: "Your school said they were hiring? Weird. We haven't been for a while." Odd, since these bars were featured on the SFSOB job placement website as "actively hiring."

Apparently, the guy the school had hired to update the listings hadn't been doing his job properly for some time now. What kind of management is that??? They assured me that they have great placement rates, and their students usually find positions quickly after graduation.

Then, to add insult to injury, I was PROMISED a job by the job placement coordinator the other week (verbatim, he said "You essentially have this job. Just call so-and-so and you'll be good to go") and, unbelievably, I get a call back from the bar manager telling me that the open position had been filled.

I was offered no sort of apology, but, instead, a crass note from the placement coordinator telling me that the reason I was having problems finding a job is because my "frustration" was coming across during interviews. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE WHEN I'M NOT EVEN INTERVIEWED TO BEGIN WITH because I keep going to bars that AREN'T HIRING??? He also wrote (verbatim - I'm cut and pasting from his actual email):

"Just put some stuff on your resume about experience, like a year somewhere and get a job."

Apparently, I now have to lie on my resume because these people who PROMISED that they have such a wonderful job placement program can't put their money where their mouth is.

BEWARE - FALSE LEADS AND FALSE EXPECTATIONS
