I recently stayed here for one night after which I needed to check my bag at the front desk for about 9 hours (that morning until later that afternoon). When I picked up my bag my relatively new 5th generation iPod was missing. I'm certain I packed it as I brought it along specifically for the ride home and verified once home that it was not left behind before my trip.
I spoke with the manager, Kathleen, who was courteous on the phone and agreed to review the security tapes. After a week and a half delay, she finally claimed to have done so but said there was no evidence that it was their fault. Of course not. I'm not sure who else would be at fault given that it was in their possession the whole time, as she claimed. As such, she said they wouldn't be reimbursing me.
I can only assume my iPod became self-aware and motile.
It's too bad because this place isn't bad for the money, just don't leave your valuables unattended or they may be taken by sticky-fingered staff.

Pros: Good for the money
Cons: Stolen valuables
We stopped in here for lunch and very happy we did. It serves typical Hawaiian food and fixings. Their barbecue beef was excellent. Prices were not bad and you get plenty to eat.
4The Island Grill inside the Clarion Hotel has a very pleasant Hawaiian flavor to it. The food is fantastic and the service very accommodating. I found the overall experience very good. They do go out of their way to make everything nice for their guests.
4I've been to this place a couple of times for lunch and the food is wonderful. The items on the menu have a bit of Hawaiian flavor so it adds a different twist from your everyday place. I would eat here again in a heartbeat. I'm just sorry I'm not close enough to go for dinner also.

this is a higher end hawaiian restaurant, not fast food, hawaiian bbq here. pretty good dishes, and cool bar connected right next door. inside the clarion hotel.
4I chose the Island Grill to host my customer luncheon of about 15 people. The event was flawless. The service was excellent and the food was superb. I highly recommend this place for such events or similar. Great atmosphere too! A+ Great job to you and your team!!!

I have special diet requirements. Many restaurants are willing to eliminate items that I cannot have but few are willing to adjust the menu, make substitutions and provide the most flavorful meal possible as the Island Grill. The service is fine. The menu is diverse. Therefore folks without my dining restrictions are willing to accompany me to the Island Grill and they enjoy the menu variety.
I travel to San Jose frequently and always stay near the Island Grill.
PS: They have the best sweet potato fries!

I usually go there for lunch, they have a really nice and relaxing atmosphere. Nice way to wind down after an interesting morning working. Their food is excellent and the service is always friendly.
i recently went for dinner and I wasn't disappointed. They have a different menu for dinner which was just as enjoyable as the lunch menu. I had the Haleakala Salmon and I loved it!!! I highly recommend the Island Grill and Bamboo Lounge to all my friends.

Pros: Great cocktails
Cons: parking can be a little troublesome at times
This is a great restaurant, it has great food and great service. The environment is perfect, and it's the only place where I've liked how they made my favorite drink!
I will definately come back!

The food was pentiful, cooked to order, hot, served in a timely manner and delicious.
A great variety on the menu too. Loved the lively atmospher. Service was great too. I can't wait to go back again. I was lucky to find it since I'm not usually in the area.
Great job Island Grill.

I didn't expect much as this place wasn't quite on the road to anywhere and a bit in the middle of nowhere, but boy was I surprised. Great food, fast service and a nice atmosphere. We had the kids, so we made sure to get a table a bit away from the sports bar.

The Best way to sum up the Island Grill is The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly:
The Good: Prices are reasonable (appetizers/salads $6-$10, entrees $12-$20 unless you go for the steaks and lobster $25+). Portion sizes for entrees are big and plating excellent. Most food have good flavor.
The Bad: The mixed drinks here are awful. The PinaColadas, MiTias, & Martinis were all bad. Also the Lobster bisque was awful, no lobster taste and very thin.
The Ugly: The service. We were seated promptly but the service was extremely slow and inattentive. Very slow on water refills and what should have been an hour meal turned into over 2 hours.
Overall: I would say the service is what blew it for me and probably won't be coming back despite the reasonable prices and decent food.

The Island Grill is a motel/hotel restaurant. The decorations are very cheesy, depicting a tropical theme (hence the name of the restaurant), so it's not exactly somewhere you'd go to impress a date!
I'm always more interested in food than fixtures, and the food here is fantastic. I was planning to order the 10oz prime rib special for ~$15 but neither my husband nor I were that hungry when we got to the restaurant. We ended up sharing a Seared Peppered Ahi Tuna appetizer (yummy) and a Kahuna Vic's Island Breeze Salad w/ grilled chicken (double yummy).
The only downside is the service. The wait staff was super friendly, but it took forever for anybody to take our order, food to arrive etc. I'd like to give them to benefit of the doubt and assume it's because they were short staffed that night.
I'd definitely go again.
