Loan Star Solar Screens

I was very leery of purchasing from Lone Star Solar because of all of the bad reviews here. But I was not willing to spend the $1500 that Solar Screen Works in McKinney wanted where I only paid $950 with Lone Star for 17 windows on the front of my house. Plus, they have a good rating with the BBB and when taken into account the sheer number of installs they do (A LOT), it's hard to believe if their customer service or product was THAT bad, than they wouldn't have any business.

I called to get the estimate. They came out promptly and very much on time. The guy who came was very nice and respectful and he was knowledgeable of the product and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction.

I later called several times to their office with more questions and always received friendly people who answered all of my questions adequately.

I placed the order on Friday and by Thursday the following week all the screens were installed. I checked all of them and they were all fit very tight and snug and I was impressed at how precisely they were measured and installed.

In addition, a reviewer here mentioned that the screens are screwed into the windowframes. They screwed one tab into the window frame to hold the panel in place. And when I asked the guys at Solar Screen works about the screws, they said that they would do the same thing.

Overall, I'm very happy with the product and the service, though so far I haven't had to deal with customer service relating to problems with the solar screens.

I absolutely love my solar screens. I am pleased with my service all around. I called on Friday and set up an appointment for Monday at 6:00 pm. The estimator was on time and very friendly and informative. He gave me a detailed quote and I signed the contract and ordered my screens right then. The installer came out on Saturday to install the screens. He did a great job and was very friendly and professional. Lone Star was recommended to me by both my niece and my nephew who have Lone Star Screens. Their price was 40% lower than another company that I had quote the same job. I will have them quote radiant barrier for me next.

I purchased screens for my home just last week from this company. The owner is a real tool. I will never do business with EVER AGAIN. Quality of product is crap compared to screens I've purchased from a different company. BUYER BEWARE!!

The quote I received was 50% less than another company. They showed up on time, installed a gorgeous product within 3 days.

I read some of the bad reviews and was surprised. Maybe I just got lucky, but I would gladly work with them again and recommend them to others.

BUYER BEWARE terrible customer service, the LIES, the LIES, from the little man all the way up to the owner Jim. He told me, very rudely i might add. "We stand by our word!" Well i have the word in writing, the warranty and nobody is standing by it. I am following up with court proceedings the money is not the issue. It is about principle. THEY SHOULD BE OUT OF BUSINESS! and from the looks of the other reviews that will be sooner than later

James Berner, he was patient and calm and he got someone out to my home promptly and got the Solar Screens built in record time. Although the screens have not been installed I have faith that a good job will be done and that they will stand behind there product. I look forward to getting them installed tomorrow. I would recommend this company to friends and family alike.

I originally called at the end of May and scheduled an appt for measurement of screens. No one showed. I then called and scheduled a "leave" estimate, again, no one showed. This happened two more times until I finally spoke with the GM and he got someone out to my house. There was a note on the order for measurement that this job was to be completed by the 7/14, the measurement took place the 21st. The first attempt at installation was incorrect and they finally completed the installation in August!! They then proceeded to start calling for payment every week. I travel so I haven't been able to make payment. When I finally spoke to them today, Nathan, the person that called said that they had left me 4 messages, that is correct. So, I flippantly said, "how does it feel to call and get no response" he responded so you are just going to "jack around" with us. HOW RUDE!!! So I then proceeded to talk to "Jim the owner" and he defended Nathan and then lectured me and hung up after I offered to pay and he threatened to take down the screens. He was soooooooooooo busy making it about them that he forgot that I am the one with the money. I called back and got the screens paid for. I also explained that I would not be referring Lone Star and he said "I don't care, I get plenty of referrals from Valley Ranch." These are not business practices that should be associated with BBB. No one offered an apology or a discount for poor service. If this business believes that they can continue in a down economy with poor service, poor follow-thru and no referrals they perhaps need to close their doors now. NO MORE REFERRALS FROM ME!!!

Good Response time on the free estimate (my neighbor and I both got estimates). Excellent Prices (so we thought). They were about 17% less than The McKinney TX Company that also gave us an estimate.

My neighbor got them & boy is he sorry about it. We waited to see their screens before we made the decision to buy. Holy Cow is all I could say when we saw the screens screwed right into the window frames. Very thin and flimsy aluminum frame, cheap outside plastic corners (that will break in a year or two in this Texas Heat & Sun), and SCREWED Into the windows.
We went ahead and ordered the more expensive screens from SSW in McKinney because we liked the owner, who came to our home twice) and explained everything. They are here in McKinney. He was professional, provided us with a LIFETIME Warranty and the screens are 4 or 5 times better than our friends next door. The Frame is VERY Heavy Duty Extruded Aluminum, Matches perfectly with our paint, and they don't have to be screwed into the windows. They FIT Perfectly.
Stay away from Lone Star Solar Screens. Call the guy in McKinney.

My wife and I bought a house and had Lone Star Solar Screens in stall screens on our house. When I had time to inspect the house I found that they broke a window. When I called and told them they said someone would out to look at it. Someone did when we were gone and they left a note "CAME TO LOOK AT WINDOW WE DID NOT BREAK THE GLASS. NO SCREWS WERE PUT AROUND THE GLASS BUT IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS PLEASE GIVE US A CALL" It is amazing how we just had the house inspected and found no damage. We have Lone Star come out and install screens and we have a broken glass.

The original salesman was great. Free estimate, no pressure. Started to experience problems with install. Called and spoke with owner. Very rude and disrespectful. To be fair, I must say the quality is great but the service was horrible and I cannot recommend to anyone because of that. Unfortunate that the owner ruined the experience.

My husband and I thought lone start solar screens were a good quality product...then I had the opportunity to speak with the owner of the company...he was rude and disrespectful. I thought if he behaves this way, what are the company standards like???I won't spend my $ where I'm treated badly. No matter what the product is like. That's the nature of competition.

This company is very professional and customer service focussed. The screens come in a variety of colors to compliment the exterior of your home. You can even get custom gridwork to make your windows look more appealing. You can get a free written estimate before you make a decision. The prices are great. The company will beat any legitimate written estimate. We are very pleased with the quality of the work.
