There is lots of good teachers, but there is extremely poor administration. There is a reason for the frequent turnover. Don't move here for the school district.

The district also needs to listen more to the community for what they want with the quality of education. Funding is very much driven by the "squeaky wheel".

SD says that they put reading and math first, but the funding is not always put in the areas that are being touted as a priority. ie: hiring reading coaches over librarians; ie: constant changing of curriculum,
ie: lack of funding for equitable technology in all schools.

The SD is looking to build a new elementary (needed years ago), but fails to inform the community on the specifics.

Repairs have also been hit or miss in the schools. Be careful to which school your child attends.

The parent/teacher club has major problems. They fund 2 of the elementaries, but not the third. There are good people in charge, but they fail to spend the money raised adquately on the schools.

Elementary students have the problem of being too long on the buses, and picked up too early. The administration and the bus company cannot come to agreement on age appropriate times to ride the bus. Students may sit on the bus 30 min in the school parking lot before having to go to the gym and sit for another 20 min.

Overall--I give the school district a D.

The way they organized the schools is awful. My wife and I have a son with special needs, and the educators in this district did everything they could to not provide him support. To top it off when we left because of a lack of services, one of the special ed teachers wrote of how they "lit into him" to solve a behavioral issue. The educators in the next district were appalled and let me know that this had been written into a document as though it was a reasonable way to handle our son.
