Ugh! I am so upset with this place! This is not a family friendly photography place at all!!! I went in for head shots for my business, which is online and I explained that I dont need 50pics of myself, but figured the girl has to do her job but then my son came along who is 3 and I thought might as well take a pic of him alone, and we can come back with rest of the family another time. The pics were nit good, and I still had to choose the pics for the fast talking up seller. She wanted me to pay like 130 after I had estimated it at no more than 80. So i told her to start taking some off, she did but was visibly not happy about doing so. I get home disk does not work, I had to make another trip to get another one. First another lady tried to open disk and said it didnt work then she said it did but added the high resolution pics to another disk. I get home 2nd time and still 1st disk doesnt work, secound disk there are the high resolution pics only and one of my son that I paid 40 for you can see the side of the wall where backdrop ends! Crappy place, and next time I wil spend more and go to a reputable place!

My husband and I took my 2 year old son to have his 2 nd birthday pictures taken. We waited an hour before the session started. We got about 6 shots of my son before he had a meltdown, and then the girl continued to take pictures of my screaming, crying child. Like I am going to buy those pictures. I can take pictures like that at home. And then when we were checking out she tried to sell us a $200 package. Are you kidding me!!!!! She was rude and very unprofessional. I will never go back to them. I will spend the extra money and go to the picture people. Dont waste your time or money!!!!

Let me say this. ANY good reviews for this company is damage control coming from within the company. Look, if you want good pictures, hire a PHOTOGRAPHER and not a sales representative to take your pictures. If you can't afford to pay one then buy yourself a camera and take your own pictures. Yet it's always the same crap. Customers always want something for nothing. Would you work for less than minimum wage? Now imagine that you did a photo for someone coming in, spent an hour with them and their kid and then all they wanted was a $10 picture. SO now after printing costs, you have made around $3. That's why you get the attitude from these people. Fact is, you get what you pay for. As for those of us who have an education, training, and skills in photography, we want these people out of business. They are a scam and an embarrassment to artists. On the other hand, we are glad they exist because they keep the customer only wanting the $10 print away from those of us that actually need to make a living. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
With my business, I don't deal in prints. I take the pictures that the CUSTOMER wants, make sure I get the good ones, then give them a high res. cd and let them do their own printing. Works well, and the customer pays more, but happy happy happy in the end. Why these companies can't figure this method out is beyond me.

all of you with bad experiences need to use more common sense. Of course if you go on a saturday afternoon it will be busy. We went on a wednesday morning and the whole time we were there I only seen one other momma with two kids. I was actually late for the appointment but it was ok we were not rushed.

for those who say they scammed you, were you forced to buy anything you didn't want? I wasn't. Yes they take a lot of pictures and they WANT you to buy a lot, but they certainly don't force you. If you truly can only afford the $10 package then buy just that. So what if you waste time posing for pictures you won't buy. They can't make money on spending 2 hours for only $10. But for every one that buys just the smallest package I bet there are 5 other people who will spend more.

As far as them not being "real" photographers, I'd say most big chain store photo places are on about the same level. They all use similar poses and whatnot, but hey you get what you pay for. If I could afford to hire a professional photog I would, but I don't and PI gets the job done. I have memories of my baby that I can treasure and always remember his cute little smile. As far as the photographer's attitude I'm sure that just varies. Mine was great but I kind of think of them as walmart workers, underpaid and undervalued who don't care too much for their jobs.

Anyways, we had a good experience, I would recommend taking time off during the middle of the week maybe a morning to go so there's less people. And only bring the money you really want to spend to cut down on temptation. I wanted to spend about $150 and I spent about $170. I know it's hard to get rid of all your childs cute poses but think of all the ones you get. It is a pretty good deal.

Let me start by saying I have never felt strongly enough about any business to write a bad review of them. I could not believe the experience I had at Portrait Innovations. When I made my appointment, I expressed that I just needed a basic shot, from the waist up of my 2 older children, ages 5, 3, and a photo of my 2 month-old propped up in a chair. I wanted the baby in his christening outfit, and just an updated photo of the other two. I told them again when they called to remind me, and they said they would get a bunch of shots and take their pictures all together. I told them I didn't want that, and they said they had to. I just thought that associate was misinformed because why would any portrait studio force you to take a picture with people you don't even want together? That would be crazy, right? Well, I guess I should have listened, because they did in fact take pictures of all my children together, completely unmatching, my son even had his snow boots on, which I didn't want in the picture because I only wanted one waist up. The picture I wanted most was of the baby in his christening outfit sitting propped up so you could see the outfit in the photo. When they started, I asked if we could get that picture first while he was still happy and fed. They said happily, "Oh that's okay, we are going to take a bunch of pictures for you, don't worry we will get it." I said that was okay, and they laid him on his side, with his arm under his head, which only would have worked when he was a brand-new baby, because by this age age he is strong enough to be uncomfortable that way. So he wasn't happy, they didn't get any good ones in that position, so then I kindly asked if we could do the sitting position. The did, but by this time, he was starting to get a little irritated, so they kept saying, very passive-aggressively to him, "I know, baby, you don't like that position. Babies don't like to be like that. You don't want to sit up." I kept my mouth shut; I am not a confrontational person, but the comments were obviously made to spite me. The session continued that way-them insisting on pictures I told them I would not buy, them making demeaning comments like, "sometimes babies like it if you feed them a little bit, and then they"ll be happy," as if I was not the child's mom. Them whispering to each other and glancing at each other when I requested we move forward, or do something different, them talking to my five and three-year old like they were babies. Not kidding, it was laughable. My son even said, "Why do they keep saying coo chee coo chee coo to me?" Finally, after over an hour of a shoot that should have taken 10 minutes, the baby was beyond tired and they put another background up and pulled out the chair I had originally asked them to use for the baby. I sat him down and he started to cry, of course. I said, "That's okay, we are good with what we got." They looked at each other and then told me to try again. I told them it was obvious we weren't going to get a good picture, so it was okay. Then the almost threateningly said, "Put him down, Mom. Put the baby down." At this point I can't even believe them and I say, "Is there a quota of photos you have to meet for your manager or something?" They kept responding that no, they just wanted me to be happy, and I would for sure be disappointing if I didn't get this last shot. They wouldn't fess up to it, and after I finally insisted we were done, they stormed away. Keep in mind, I continually told them I didn't want to waste their time on photos I wouldn't buy, and they kept saying I wasn't wasting their time and they only wanted me to be happy. For the next hour I sat at the computer saying no to every picture and package I said I was going to from the beginning. I told her I only wanted this one photo in my 9.95 package. Honestly , I would have gotten a little bit more had they not been so horrible. She was floored and angry, and looked around to make no co-workers were listening, and told me she would be in trouble if she didn't go over every single option with me. I told her thank you for finally being honest about why she was doing so many ridiculous things, and for the next 30 minutes, I stood with a tired baby and hungry kids saying "no thank you" to every thing she showed me, and sure enough, I left with a 9.95 package and that was it. The whole time the other associates were in the back room shooting daggers at me and whispering about us. It was so awkward. If I had gone in there with the pretense that I wanted a lot of pictures, it would be my fault, but I was more than honest and upfront. The photos themselves were not very good. I like JCPenney's quality much better. The kids' faces were washed out and the photos seemed overexposed. I wish I had read some reviews before I went! I have never felt so awkward and demeaned at any business ever. I will stick with JCPenney!

Ok my husband & I took our 7 Week old daughter to the Ridgeland, MS Portrait Innovations on Feb 12, 2011. It was HORRIBLE. We arrived 20mins before our scheduled appt. The place was packed, there were no chairs available for waiting customers. Our appt was scheduled for 1:00 & we didn't actually take pictures until 3:00. They called twice the week of the photos to make certain we were coming. Nobody mentioned the excessive wait time. Seems like if a person was not there when they were called the next available slot they were going back down the list to call names. The pictures were just ok, not nearly worth the price I paid. After we were finally done I felt pressured to buy additonal pictures after I told the sales person several times the amount of money I planned to spend. I wish I had read some of these reviews before I spent my money. Horrible experience..

I have gone to Portrait Innovations in Cedar Rapids, IA 7 times now. I had an initial positive experience with them in comparison to Sears and JC Penney. For my daughter's two year photos we experienced the aweful wait times as previously written about. And, we were rushed through our photo sitting, so none of the photos were great. I was very frustrated with how we were treated, but the manager worked with us for over a month until we were happy with the retakes. (I now ask how busy they are before coming)
Today was a NIGHTMARE experience. I brought my now three year old, and 10 month old in for Valentines photos. I told the photographer (who was new as of the last time I had been there) that I only needed photos of the two girls together. She insisted that we start with profile shots. I explained again that I was only interested in purchasing photos of the girls together. She said she would get in trouble with corporate if she did not take the solo shots. So, I said, okay, but just take one, because I don't want to waste your time, or mine, and we are talking about children with limited attention spans.
She got my 10 month old seated on a swivel stool, while I held her from the back. Then she left the room without explanation before taking the photo. She returned, without apology took several photos of only my 10 month old. Then she moved the swivel stool and asked me to seat my three year old on it. So, holding my 10 month old on one hip, holding on to my three year old on a swivel stool, ready for a photo. She AGAIN leaves the room. Returns, to take a couple of pictures of my oldest by herself. Then, she pulls out a new background (no photos of my daughters together have yet to be taken) Makes them both take off their shoes. LEAVES AGAIN! Returns with a prop this time. Takes 7 pictures of the girls together. Then, she sees a customer at the desk and LEAVES FOR THE FOURTH TIME!!! She helps the customer, answers a couple of phone calls. Another staffer comes to the front desk, and our photographer continues to answer a third call. At this point my blood pressure is through the roof. My two daughters are reaching the end of their patience as well. When the photographer finally returns, she insists that she is only going to photograph my oldest daughter.
I inform her that no, we are not wasting any more time taking photos of the girls separately, as I am ONLY INTERESTED IN PHOTOS OF THE GIRLS TOGETHER!!!! She says she has to change backgrounds. I wanted photos of the girls with the rose petals they had been playing with while waiting for her to return. She refuses. I appeal to the other staffer, who goes to check with another photographer. She comes back to state that if I don't like them taking pictures of my daughters one at a time, I can have the number to corporate, and I can take it up with them. Again, I insist that they take photos of the girls together with the flower petals. The photographer then states that if she is going to take photos on the same background, SHE IS GOING TO DELETE THE ONES SHE ALREADY TOOK. At this point, my 10 month old is crying, and exhausted, and I know there is no point in continuing.
I ask to just look at the ones already taken, as we are done. The photographer LEAVES AGAIN. When she returns she states "Oh, did you want to see the photo's, or are you just leaving?"
I look through the photos. There is one barely passable photo. As I wanted to send these out for Valentines, and considering the Herculean effort it takes to dress up my children, and drive them in, I decided to go with that one photo for the special.
Upon returning home, I did just as they recommended, and called corporate and informed them of my experience. I will also be following up with the store manager.
All three of the staffers who were there today I had never seen before, and none of them acted as if they cared in the slightest about what I wanted, or what my kids needed.
I would only work with the manager at the Cedar Rapids store.

Unlike most of the reviews I read so far, my wife and I took our infant son here and were set up for the shoot promptly. The shoot went well since our baby is very cooperative but afterwards, the photographer pushed us into a "package" we didn't want. She started with a 40 pose, $700+ package and we told her keep weeding down, we don't need that many. After nearly an hour of deleting photos we didn't want, we told her we only want 4 poses. WE SAID THIS TWICE AND SHE IGNORED US even after pointing out the four we wanted. She rang us up for a $200+ "package" of 15 poses and made us feel like the purchase was final and that we were obligated to go through with it. I called them back for a refund and after about 5 minutes of basically agruing with them they agreed we could take back the photos we didn't need. The manager was at least helpful.

I could tell the photographer did not enjoy her job. I told her at the beginning that all I wanted was a portrait of my 2 year old with a white background. But she insisted that she had to take 80 pictures half of which she used a Christmas background. By the time we got to the white background it was dirty and my 2 year old was not as willing to cooperate. Had she done what I asked I would have bought a lot more pictures, instead I bought one pose only because it was $9.95.

I scheduled an appointment two weeks before the date to get a Holiday Portrait of my 21 month old. My appointment was at 10am on Black Friday and I arrived early to get my child ready. I checked in and sat in the waiting area and let my daughter play with the block table. While waiting, a family came in after me and all of a sudden was taken in for their holiday picture. After 20 minutes, the girl at the desk realized the photographer took the wrong family and went to speak to her in loud whispers. She apologized to me for the wait, without acknowledging their mess up...they didn't realize I heard the whole conversation. It didn't bother me. Finally, the lady from the desk took me and my child into the (Christmas tree) room. My daughter, I admit, was not cooperating. The block table is in perfect view of the room and that's all she could see and wanted to do. She was getting cranky and wanted nothing to do with pictures with her eye still on that table. The lady told me that she was not able to get any good shots and asked if I would like to reschedule. I obliged. I made the appointment for the following Tuesday, for after her afternoon nap.

First, I called for an appt for the upcoming week. I was helped
by someone name Dave. Once the appt and name and phone number gven. He became Mr Heckyl, He said it a very abrupt and
control demeanor. This is what to expect we are full service studio.
So, expect anywhere from 45 to 65 pictures taken. On the average time with photagraphy around 1 1/2 hr for the session. I repeated
myself twice and said I has a 2yr old and 9 months. I was quite sure they would fizzle out with-in 1/2 hr. He said this is protocol and
he gave me another line ,and his tone becoming louder and more abrupt on the phone. After feeling like I wasn't being heard and more like being scolded n the ways of their regimen/protocol taking photo.I ended the phone conversation saying never mind I was no longer interested in the appt, after the conversation, told him he soundded like he has Anger Issues. So, good luck if you venture
and make an appt. For me answer was an easy one, to many other
place to go with much better customer services.

They are very unprofessional! They assured us that we could buy the CD to have larger pictures made. We bought pictures from them and the CD. They could not print as big of a picture as we wanted. When we went to have a larger picture made elsewhere it could not be done. When I contacted them back at the office they had SEVERAL excuses!! In the end I do not get the pictures I wanted after buying a VERY exspensive package. DO NOT WASTE YOU $$$!

What a mistake! We had 4 kids (cousins) to have Christmas pictures taken, but there is NO visible Christmas ANYTHING in the pictures! the kids sat next to the tree but the tree was cropped out, so it looks like they are sitting on someone's livingroom floor! when we got there the guy said that he had the christmas background all ready for us but NEVER used it! so disappointed. i wanted to just have the 9.95 package & expressed it several times, but he wouldn't let it go, he kept pushing the $200 packages over & over! i will NEVER go there again - if i wanted to be in a high-pressure sales situation i'll go to a car lot for a whole day!!!

If your wanting to spend all day getting pictures done this is the place to go...we had an appointment at 1:20pm was told we had a 30min. wait when we arrived, well that 30mins turned into 1hr 30mins. and that's just until they started taking the pictures, not adding in the time we had to wait on the other studio to get done to do a different background, and the time our photographer disappeared while our photo's uploaded. They was really rude and need some customer service classes and a new way of doing scheduling..This was my first time and last time. If your going to spend money on pictures you shouldn't have to feel rushed especially when you have little kids. I have never experienced this at JC Penny or sears...

DO NOT GO - DO NOT GET SUCKED IN!!!!!!!!!!! I have gone there 3 TIMES (all three times were a MISTAKE). They treat you like you're cattle. All three times I waited OVER an hour to be brought back and then waited again for a computer to view my photos. These people do NOT take into consideration that children nap and need to be fed! The parents there are ALL miserable because this is an AWFUL experience. The staff tires to accommodate but they are so grossly overbook (cooperate has them book EVERY 10 mins!!!) that it is impossible for them to ever be caught up! I would not bring my enemies to this place for an appointment or even employment! Do Not Go - Find Somewhere that treats you with some dignity and had respect for you and your family!!

Since a Portrait Innovations opened in our area, I have given them three different chances. I am done going there! Each time, they insist on taking a certian number of pictures with backgrounds that I DO NOT like! This is all while trying to get my 1 and 3 year olds to just comply for one picture! Each time I arrived at my scheduled time and I waited for AT LEAST 25 min.(again w/ small children-doesn't work)! The employees are pushy and not too child friendly. I will NEVER go back and I share this with everyone who mentions their name. Save yourself some money adn agrrevation and go somewhere else like Picture People.

This year was our second year with them. The first time, I just went along with the flow, letting them take pictures that they wanted. That also resulted in them trying to push their $200 packages repeatedly. This year, I only wanted the single pose package of my whole family. The photographer told me that it wouldn't be a problem. When we were almost done, the manager came in and said we had to take individual pictures whether or not we liked it. I told them we didn't want individuals, because all we wanted was the family shots. She said we had to or we would have to leave and reschedule when we wanted individuals. After about 5 minutes of this same conversation, I sped through the last several shots (I only stayed because we have 3 small kids and my wife would not like trying to get kids changed again for more pictures). Needless to say, this was our last year doing business with them. They lost money on us since this manager made me not want to buy anything but the minimum ($9.95). Last year we had bought more.

Horrible, I had a scheduled appointment for 6pm and we arrived 10mins early. The woman behind the counter said that they were running 30min behind. I told her that was fine and my family and I would go to the store next to them and kill some time. After about 25min we came back and the new lady behind the counter said "I don't know why that other lady told you that?" I then asked her did we loose our appointment? She said no it's going to be another 25min. I had a 2yr old with me. I want to know what was the point of an appointment???

This place sucks and we will never go back to them again.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. We went to the location in Springfield, MO with a 10:30 appt. I had made a month in advance. We had 5 girls ranging ages 16 years-14 months. They new the ages of the girls. We had to wait 1 hour before we had our pictures taken. Needless to say the 2 littlest girls were past the point of wanting to sit still and have their pictures made. While standing and waiting for an hour the same girl asked me 5 different times if I had checked in. They were very unorganized and my sister and I and our families will never go back.

The photographers at Portrait Innovations have always done a wonderful job. Their camera is completely portable, not on a pole like Wal-mart or a cord like Target. The photographers are able to bend, kneel, crawl, etc., which is especially important when photographing babies. All studios have a dressing room, which is also very handy. The $9.95 package is the best deal around anywhere. (With 32 wallets, do you really need more?) They upload the pictures onto a giant TV screen. They print the pictures right there for you. It is a superior experience, compared to Wal-mart, JCPenney, Kmart or Target. (I have only been to those four other ones.) My family gets $9.95 packages as often as we can and we always get compliments when we hand out the pictures. The studios are spacious, clean, professional looking, modern, etc. They use as many 3d props as possible, i.e., a real Christmas tree and not a canvas one, etc. We recommend Portrait Innovations to everyone. We have been to the locations in Aurora, CO, Colorado Springs, CO and North Brunswick,NJ and have consistently had great experiences at those three locations.
[In some of these other reviews, other customers have complained that PI tries too hard to sell the pricey packages. Portrait innovations has pushed the pricey packages about the same as all the other studios push them, in my experience.]

We had a great experience at Sterling Heights, MI studio.
Ask for Shirley G. She was great! The studio was behind in appointments. I am not sure what can be done about that. Other than calling the studio in ahead of time and ask if they are behind schedule or ask for the first appointment of the day then you will have no waiting. Maybe they shouldn't book so many appointments back to back. Also some people take longer to pick out their photos than others and this causes a back up. I have been to two different studios one in West Chester, Ohio and this one in Shelby Twp., MI For first time customers...I would suggest you realize before going in that you will have to wait (unless you ask for the first appointment of the day. Falling behind in schedule times seems to be an issue with this company but in my opinion it was worth the wait. I was sure my package included the disc. I only had to spend $120.00 to get the cd then I went home and printed out on my H.P. printer all the others ones I wanted. I have a Mac computer and it worked fine with I-Photo. If a problem arises...Smile, be nice, speak kindly and don't get your feathers ruffled. They are only human too!

Took my one year old there for birthday photos. The photographer was slovenly in her attire, lazy, unprofessional, and lacked personality. The quality of the photos were poor. She was rude and abrupt, hurrying both the photo session and selection. Did not have courtesy to finish transaction. She stayed in the back room. NO EXPERIENCE very disappointing! When I called corporate I repeatedly got a recording. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!

I have been to Portrait Innovations in San Antonio, TX twice over the last 4 years and have had a good experience both times. I typically take my own pics or use a traditional photographer, but we wanted to get pics of all the grandkids (age 1mo to 15yrs) quickly and this was much easier than trying to take them myself or waiting to book with a traditional studio. No rush taking pics or choosing pics. Poses/lighting good- the photographer took the time to work with the kids to get everything right. No, these aren't going to be as custom as a traditional photographer, but I think you get a good product for what you pay for. So, for those times where you REALLY WANT a great set of ARTISTIC photos, book a well-respected photographer. But for pictures in general, I think Portrait Innovations is in the mid-range. Better than Wal-mart & Target, but it also depends on how much skill your photographer really has. Ours was good both times.

We had an appt at the Champions, Houston location. We were behind schedule so I called about 5 minutes before our appt to let them know we'd be late. The girl who answered was agreeable and told us she'd see us when we got in. We arrived 10 minutes later (5 minutes late) and had to wait to be greeted. It was then that we were told that they would not be able to help us because we were late for our appointment. I'm not exactly sure what changed between the time I called and 10 minutes later when I entered the "studio". Based on the reviews I'm reading, this girl did me a favor. We ended up down the street and very pleased with our photo package.

Dont go here. the only thing they have to offer is a cheap package of lots of the same pictures. the "photographers" are not photographers. They do not require you to have any photography experience to work there and it shows. they put your children in unsafe poses (standing on a rocking chair, sitting on unbalanced props) and the photos are bad. the company makes the associates try to pull 100 bucks out of you and they have pricing systems that are designed to get you to spend that much. when you walk in the door, they start trying to scam you. it is their job to try to get you to spend over 100 bucks there and that is what the entire process is built around.
The reason why they take so many pictures is because corprate requires so many backgrounds and so many poses on each background so there are more pictures for you to possibly buy. If your child cries and you have to reschedule, the reason they wont show you the pictures is because theres a chance you'll just get the 9.95 package and they associates average will go down. if an associates average falls below 100 dollars per customer, they get fired. That's why this company seems pushy and robotic and uncreative. They are. Go to a real portrait studio... this studio is like the McDonalds of portrait studios. They dont care about you, they just need their money.

I went to the one in Fairfax, VA and it was THE WORST EXPERIENCE a for-profit business could offer.

I have no knowledge of the TX businesses, and so will not judge their establishment, but based on my experience, I plan to go out of my way to boycot their corporation ... the people, the little people, were great. However, there was an obvious corporate pressure to overbook, underpay employees, and treat customers like dollar signs.

TERRIBLE!!!!

Nice photographer and staff, but according to the girl at the desk, "Corporate" makes them WAY, WAY, WAY, overschedule. We had an appointment 20 minutes after they open and had to wait 1.5 hours to get in! Un-Be-Lievable!

The photographer was really nice and tried to work with us, but after nearly 2 hours who would be happy enough to get a picture? I will strongly recommend that no one ever go here ... seriously, I'm going to tell everyone I meet that this place is awful ... irrespective of the conversation we're having, I'm going to interject to tell people that this place is the epitome of faceless and soulless corporate BS!

Do not go here! Please.

I wish I would have read the reviews about Portrait Innovations prior to going there. I have never been there before was told by friends that I should go. I was very disappointed in the whole experience. They just basically do what they want to do I asked to have a proped used that I brought a long did they incorporate it in no instead they just ignored me. I should have just walked out a not got any pictures. But instead I have pictures that Im not really happy with some of them are blurry and some are of my child starting to tear I knew I should have looked at them prior to leaving but unfourtnetly my little one was starting to fuss. Some of the pictures I picked did not look like what I was shown. They hardly even explaind about the packages just said oh you like this one don't you and that one is adorable which on the computer it was cute but the prints are horrable!! WARNING DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY go somewhere else. I wish I had now I spent to much money for crap!

Our appointment (for my 3 month old) was scheduled for 1:00, we arrived right on time and had to wait for 30 minutes before they were ready for us. 20 minutes later, the photographer had taken three poses and was finished. We were told she couldn't continue with us because other people were waiting and that we could look at what she had taken, or come back and finish at another time! We didn't even get to change outfits like I had planned. NOT HAPPY!!!! We left without purchasing anything.

Portrait Innovations is a slimy place! They push you into making decisions you don't like. The photographer made us take a bunch of poses I did not like for my 17 month old. I knew she wouldn't sit still for too long, but he still wouldn't do the photos I wanted done first, so she lost interest and I didn't even get the poses I really wanted. They had toys everywhere, so like any toddler she just wanted to go after those. We had to change rooms in the middle of a session b/c I wanted to use the big bear they had in another room. They should have just gone and grabbed it! Then I sat down with someone else to choose my photos and was told I "had" to choose 1 out of the 3 they show you before they can eliminate some poses (which wasn't even true). I didn't like any of the cheesy poses and backgrounds they used with her, so I didn't like any of the pictures, then I was told the $9.95 portrait package could only be added on to other packages and the person kept blaming my toddler daughter for being uncooperative. He told me if I wanted just 1 pose I should have gone to Sears or JCP. I said we have gone to Sears and they have taken great pictures! I ended up walking out without buying anything! I called them a couple days later posing as a new customer and asked if I can just get the $9.95 pkg. if I only liked 1 picture. I was talking to the Mgr. and he kept trying to sell instead of answering my question. Finally he acknowledged that I could just get the $9.95 pkg, but the quality wouldn't be the best, so I busted him and said I was told I couldn't the other day. I knew I had talked to him that day I was in there, but he wouldn't fess up that it was him who told me I couldn't just get that package. Long pauses on his end.

All Portrait Innovations wants to do is sell. They don't care about your wants at all. They want to use cheesy backgrounds and props, instead of taking a simple picture as requested. As customers we should be able to give our input since we are the ones paying so much money for these pictures of our babies! I have to select a rating to give them and if it would let me I would select 0!

Remember, you can get just 1 pose if that's the only one you want, make them listen to you and don't let them pressure you. I wouldn't recommend using them, but if you have to then stand your ground!

I have gone to portrait innovations on several occassions and told that if I buy enough product that I would get a CD with all my photos to do with whatever I wanted. Well that was not the case. These pictures are low resolution pictures with the high resolutions pictures encrypted and you must ask permission to have them reproduced. I would have never gone there and had my photos taken of my children had I known this. I cannot tell you how valuable having the copyright on your pictures will be to you and your family in the future. I am heart broken and sickened by this. For what I paid to get my photos there, I could have gotten them at Sears, JCPenneys, Olan Mills or Target (am sure there are others) and obtained a CD with copyright privileges so that I could reproduce these pictures at any time. Please, if you value your family photos and want to give your children something special go somewhere else so you can have control over your family photos, your hertiage, and your children's image. My hope is that I can spare another family the heartache, humilation, and anger that I have gone through with this company. Your ability to determine what you can do with your family photos depends on your decision.

I agree we took our christmas pictures there last year, and would not recommend it. We felt very rushed and the photographers were not creative. Our son at the time was only 4 months old. I would not recommend this place for baby or toddler pictures. I also agree with Becky L. each family member had to take individual photos. We just wanted a family picture. Unnecessary photos of the same image!

the photographer acted as if my 21 month old twin boys were the first toddlers she's ever taken a picture of. She was inpatient and was quick to reschedule the appt. And when I asked to see the pictures she had taken, she refused to let me see them. This place left a bad taste in my mouth and I will never go there and will tell all the moms I know about my bad experience.

I like the ambiance of the store and the photographers has knowledge about what they are doing! The only thing i noticed is that its a little rush,i guess find the slowest day of the week not weekends so they will have time to really accommodate you. I end up taking a lot of pictures, some of them i really don't like at the second thought. Make sure you let them show you all your favorite poses and look at them well because they might look the same.Do not forget you are still their customer,do not be intimidated if they made you feel that you are taking much time, i guess its a business strategy. Just buy the best!! I cannot answer if i'm going tocome back to this place because all i care is i had photos of my baby when she 's one. Its kinda expensive but where is not?

I'm reviewing the PI in Superior, CO. I had a horrible experience and would never go back. I'm telling all the moms I know to avoid it as well. I was told that it was corporate policy that individual pictures of both of my children were required during our shoot, but all I wanted was a picture of the two of them together. My daughter did fine for her session, but my son, who is 2 and cranky and clingy, was not going to sit by himself for his session. I was basically ignored when I requested that they just move on, and they acted like the dozen or so shots they took of the two of them were hardly worth their effort for me to review. I ended up leaving, very frustrated and upset. I think the way they handled it was awful. Hello, do you want some money or NO MONEY? Apparently they didn't care enough about my business to try working with me. I feel mad still...and it's been 8 hours since we left. I wish I had had a photographer who had said, you know what..let's just review these group shots so you can get out of here. That didn't happen and it makes me want to spread the word bigtime that this particular shop should be boycotted.

At the location we use, we've had some great experiences and some not-so-great experiences. It all depended on the photographer we got. Most have been very good and customer-service-oriented, but others were not. One got very upset when we couldn't decide quickly enough between two poses when we were purchasing pictures. Another was too visibly upset that we didn't order more pictures (we always order more than the $9.95 special, but honestly, I never NEED enough pictures to meet their $100 goal, and if a session cost $100, I probably wouldn't bother with professional pictures.).

Some photographers complain (not to the customer, but I've heard some through the grapevine) that it's the parents who should be able to make the child smile, but the problem with that is that I would skip the professional pictures altogether if I could get those looks myself! AND--I have had several excellent photographers at PI who could VERY well get my daughter to smile, even at 18 months when she was NOT a smiler!

So, I've had excellent experiences with them and not-so-great ones, and basically, it depends on the experience and attitude of the photographer. (We just had a session, and the photographer was awesome.)

I do wish the company would do away with their policy of getting rid of photographers who can't keep a $100 average and instead offer incentives for each sheet/special sold on top of the $9.95 deal. It would improve the photographers' attitudes and would reduce turnover. If turnover were low, I don't think I'd have had the handful of experiences with mediocre photographers.

Some took excellent pictures; some really seemed clueless, and had no idea how to get my daughter to smile.

One big advantage of PI is that you get your pictures 25 minutes after your session. Many times, that is why we choose to go there instead of another studio.

This place should be high on your list for your photography needs, if you want to capture special pose photograps. I had some portraits done here and they turned out very classy... just perfect. It is a bit more expensive than the studios that are run out of department stores, but I liked the service so much that I would go here again before trying any place else.

I took my grandson here this morning for photos. A little over an hour later we had more great poses than I've ever seen. You can pick before they print. Their packages are great - you have a lot of choices and a lot of extras that they throw in. The photographers were great - it was a cram bam get you in and out like those fast photographers at the mall. They spent time and got creative. Will I be coming back. You bet - and often.

From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted and attended by some of the friendliest customer service associates I've ever come across. They explained everything and took me step-by-step through the shooting process. They were extremely patient while I viewed all the photos and selected the poses I wanted. They didn't rush or use high pressure techniques. I loved the way the photos came out. It only took 20 minutes for them to print. It was a very positive experience and I recommend Portrait Innovations to everyone.

PROS: photos ready in 20 mins,no sitting fees, you're able to view all photos shot
CONS: slightly pricey depending on package selected, only one dressing room avail
