The email I sent to the owner Last Saturday that I haven't received a response. ..
Good Afternoon,
My husband & I just left with a bitter taste in our mouths.
We save "Toast" for special occasions, this being my birthday. My husband ordered a club, & I ordered the pumpkin french toast with coffee. I added a sweetner, and about 1/2 a cup later asked for a warm up. The waiter fills my cup and returns it to me & as I'm stirring it I notice that there's something wrong, with the spoon I pull out 2 raw sugar empty packets! Meaning I was drinking out of a used coffee cup, extremely grossed out. (After hearing about a "new bug"in the United States from Mexico that feeds on your face and transfered from kissing or from mouth to mouth) I tell the waiter who says, I'm sorry & removes the cup from the table, and promptly brings me a new one. Of course I'm not going to drink coffee!
He immediately brings us our check & says I've comp'ed your coffee, Needless to say after owning my own restaurant, he should have at the very least spoke to a manager & the manager should have came to the table.

Extremely Disappointed,
Lisa Shannon

Long wait for food that arrived cold, and was tasteless.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! Like other reviewers, had heard rave reviews and was excited to check it out. Server was quick enough with drinks, but waited about a half hour for food.

I'd read the menu online, and heard raves about it, and as a friend was coming from Alaska, we were looking for breakfast places. So I ordered. First, bacon half raw,So, I sent the bacon back, and they returned it: burned. They didn't have

Food was slow getting to us, The order was incomplete and the waitress was unapologetically indifferent. Waste of time and the $22.00 our meal cost us. Won't be back - ever. Many better restaurants in the metro area worth considering.

We go to toast for a casual, family friendly breakfast weekdays or weekends. Our five-year-old, who only really likes McDonald's, looks forward to breakfast at Toast and knows its a special occasion when we go. Incredible selection of pancakes, but I love the variety of benedicts offered. They recently opened a location in Cherry Creek that we have yet to try but are looking forward to it.

I was there this past weekend and had a great experience. I had the eggs benedict and it was delicious. They were super busy, but I still received excellent service. By the way, great coffee!!!!

Pros: Great Food

Cons: Long Wait on Weekend :(

Everything my family has ever had here is so delicious. I could go on and on about how much we love the food. All the bread is thick and how bread should taste, great green chili and they actually cook my eggs right. We don't go as much as we'd like because there is almost always a wait unless you go early and then you will likely get sat in the back room.

Pros: Amazing Food

Cons: Not kid friendly, usually a wait

A friend and I had lunch at Toast on a verbal recommendation from someone who had eaten there previously and had had "a great breakfast". We ordered sandwiches, and, when our meals arrived, my friend noticed that her sandwich roll was moldy and pointed it out to the waitress. The waitress apologized and took it back to the kitchen, and we waited quite awhile for the replacement. At no time did the waitress offer to comp my friend's meal or even reduce the price (and meals there are not inexpensive). I did not see any mold on my sandwich, but the fact that the restaurant was serving moldy food was off-putting, to say the least. I won't be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.

I ate here a few days after Christmas with my mom and my sisters and this place is WONDERFUL!! It's low key atmosphere is comfortable and clean and the food is amamzing. I had a difficult time choosing one dish to order. I ended up ordering the grilled brie and apple sandwich. It was amazing. It had fresh, crisp Granny Smith apples with delicious melted brie cheese, tomato, lettuce and a raspberry pecan aioli which was soooo good! Everybody else at the table really enjoyed their food, too! I thought it was maybe a little overpriced, especially for the things like pancakes, but the food is so good, I don't care! My sister has dined here a few times and can recommend a few of the pancakes and french toast dishes. Like the berries and cream french toast. Yum! I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. They even have great things for kids on their menu. I highly recommend this place!

Cons: It was a little loud at first. But the waiter turned the music down upon our request.

The restaurant is not large or fancy and gets crowded on weekends, but they serve delicious breakfasts and lunches. Toast is not open for dinner. Their dishes are unique and moderately priced.

First off, there was no where to park for they only have enough parking for maybe 10 cars, so we had to park behind the place at a maternity clothing store. when we did get in we were seated at a table about a foot away from the table next to us. the severs would sit down to take our order. the food is way out there and took about 45 min. for the cook to bring us our food even though the waiter wasnt doing anything.I got the santa-fe french toast but with all the stuff ontop of it I couldnt even tast the french toast. I was about the middle of the restraunt and I could hear the cooks swearing and yelling at eachother. also my waiter had chew in his mouth and got our food mixed up with the table next to us ( I understand cause the tables are so close together). All in all I had a bad exparience. Maybe it was a bad night but Im not going back to find out.

After reading other reviews on this website, I was a little worried about trying Toast. But after eating there this morning I can honestly say its one of the best breakfast places in all of Denver. I had the Santa Fe french toast which was a savory delight, like nothing else served in town. My wife had the berries and cream French Toast and it was a mountain of blueberries and strawberries. We also each had a side of bacon which was large, crispy, and really tasty! The service was great while not being overwhelming. I was thoroughly impressed with the cleanliness and the atmosphere. The parking was easy, right off Littleton/Bowles and Santa Fe. Overall it was one of the best breakfast experiences I have had in my 10 years in Denver. Definitely worth the wait and the money!!!

I had brunch here with some people from work after a terrible week and it was just what we needed -- huge portions, innovative menu options, delicious coffee. The berrys and cream french toast was really good! The breakfast burrito looked delicious, and I would have loved to have tried the egg breakfast sandwich. I really enjoyed the time.

After reading several top ten, or number one awards Toast has received I decided to go check it out myself since I am new to the Denver area. After arriving and having to wait (expected) to be seated it took longer than expected to get out drinks. My coffee cup spent more time empty than full. It took longer than expected for our food to arrive. I ordered the big breakfast with the lemon blueberry pancakes. My order of pancakes was thin and disappointing, while my friend who ordered the same thing got great pancakes. We both agree that they were good pancakes if they were just blueberry pancakes. There was no lemon flavor at all that we could discern. It was disappointing. My sausage was very dry, and burnt. I ended up scraping char off of it. The bacon was good. The potatoes were either not seasoned, or over-seasoned. They need to do a better job of distributing the seasoning on the potatoes. We also ordered a side of the regular French toast. It was also disappointing, once it got deliverded to the table. It took until the meal was almost over for the side of french toast to arrive. The bread selection for it was great, the problem being is that they were only lightly coated and then fried leaving the French toast dry in the middle and tough. Artisan bread should be allowed to soak up the custard leaving a nice soft center, with a crisp outer coating. Overall I was disappointed in the experience at Toast. I don?t see myself returning.

Cons: Most everything else.

There is nothing great to say about this place at all. Everything from the high school employees to the ridiculous pancakes are just plain stupid.

Go to Mona's downtown and stay out of the suburbs.

I went to Toast today with a co-worker, she had a beautiful salad and I had the most incredible fish tacos! Now I am a huge fan of the fish taco craze, I mean I love Wahoos, but these tacos were absolutely fabulous. I highly recommend them. The service was also very good. They have now switched over from the quick casual method to having wait staff. This definitely makes for a better dinning experience, especially if you are too lazy to get up and get your own refills. Very impressed and like I said before, the best fish tacos ever!!!!!!!

Magically Delicious! Good food, nice service, and great atmosphere. A nice take on breakfast, I really enjoy the breakfast burrito. Have not tried lunch yet, but it looks good too. A nice addition to the area in my opinion.

Pros: Breakfast

.

I love breakfast! I really, really love breakfast! I especially really, really, love pancakes for breakfast. Toast has a creative take on todays breakfast and lunch fare. Personally I am more of a sweet guy over a savory guy, but do not worry they have a great selection of eggseptional dishes for those who are not into the sweet stuff. Service is good, but the food is fantastic. Prices are comparable to your higher quality breakfast joints for example, Devil's Food (which I like too), Cafe Bisque, The Original Pancake house, so on and so on. What really makes Toast stand out from the rest is the quick casual service. You pay first and then the food comes out to you. Great idea for those on the run! I need to come back and try lunch, but the breakfast is just so good it may take me awhile. A must try!

Interesting seeing those negative reviews. Hmmmmm. I was in Toast this morning with my wife and kids and we had a wonderful meal and experience. They were busy and we still experienced great service and food. I had a benedict and it was creamy and delicious, best I have had in a long time. My wife had the breakfast burrito that she really enjoyed and the kids split an order of berries and cream french toast. The coffee is great if you are in to that. I do not find the food to be over priced at all. They are very comparable to other breakfast establishments here in Denver. Yes if you are looking for a $3.99 greasy diner special, than this is not the place for you. Or maybe the ordering at the counter throws you off? Maybe you have not been to Parisi or Il Vicino, they have counter ordering too. Counter ordering is actually refreshing because you can leave when you are done with your meal. No more waiting for your waitress. Who knows we come all the time and have yet to have a bad experience.

Thank you for visiting my restaurant! To those who enjoyed it, you have my thanks, and a promise to continue to provide you with the experience you have come to expect.

To those who had a bad experience between December 1-9, I apologize for any errors we made in serving you. We are a fast-casual restaurant, and as such are a seat yourself and order at the counter kind of establishment. Examples of this kind of restaurant are Noodles Inc, Pei Wei Asian Diner, or Il Vicino. The food runners (not waiters or waitresses), while happy to assist you in any way possible, will only know that there is a problem if you talk to them. I'm also sorry you felt that our $9.99 Eggs Benedict, incidentally one of John Lendorf's (food reviewer for the Denver Post) most memorable meals for 2007, was too expensive. Our Classic Eggs, at $7.49 is our basic breakfast, and comes with choice of bacon, sausage, chorizo, and with potatoes and toast.

We pride ourselves on our great food. Everything we serve is fresh, and of the highest quality. We serve Eggland?s best eggs; our sausage is made locally by Polidori (voted Denver's best sausage for the last 3 years). We try to make as much from scratch as we can, such as our crab cakes or Hollandaise sauce. This care and attention to detail garnered us the award for Best Breakfast from Westword's Best of Denver 2007, and inclusion in multiple dining guides from the Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, 5280, and the Gabby Gourmet 2008.

After visiting Toast when it first opened up we were very disappointed. The customer service was awful and the atmosphere wasn't any better. Hoping they would have improved over time, my husband and I tried it again. Yuck. Still a horrible experience. The food is overpriced. The staff is still unattentive and rude. I would not recommend it to anyone!

My wife and I went to Toast on December 1, 2007 after having read some of the reviews. Upon entering the restaurant we were told to get menus and seat ourselves. The few tables available were filthy and the floors were equally unswept. We sat against the wall away from the very cold and windy door. The seats we chose were just as bad as the outside temperature of 45 degrees. The vents above my head were blowing cold air. I ordered and paid in advance for the eggs benedict ($14) for my wife and the basic breakfast ($12) for me. Breakfast priced as such carried high expectations. Along with the two smoothies the meal cost about $40. The smoothies arrived in plastic to go containers. The meals arrived while we wore our coats for warmth. We had to ask for silverware and the waiter did not even care as to why the 10 people in the restaurant at the time all had on jackets. There were four front of house staff on at the time. No one asked us about the quality of the meal. After about 80% through the meal, my wife found a hair between her eggs and the english muffin. This was the kind of hair commonly found below the neck. We immediately stopped eating. No one cared that the meals were sitting in front of us for 15 minutes untouched. Having paid in advance we got up to leave and walked passed a waiter behind the front counter. He said "thanks for comin". I responded that he might want to inform the management that there was a hair in my wife's food. He responded "oh, o.k.". After a deliberate pause and witnessing the waiter stare at me, we left. Never to come back.

I had seen and heard a lot about Toast since I moved here and was so suprised to have a less than impressive experience. First of all, The guy who took our order was clueless. I asked him if I could have the egg dish without meat, since that wasn't a menu option. He said I could get extra fruit, which was great. But when it came, the extra fruit was 1 extra strawberry. But the big deal was he not only took out the meat, he took out the potatoes. I called him over and he said that was the deal, substitute potatoes for fruit and I told him no, the meat. which was obvious because there was NO meat on the plate. Then he told me I couldn't do that! It was soooooo strange and he never made good. So basically I paid $9 for 2 eggs, 2 strawberries and BURNED toast. I thought perhaps they could at least get their namesake right.
Terrible customer service and lame food! If I could give it NO stars I would.

I will join the legions of fans and vouch for Toast. The Chai Tea Infused French Toast with clover honey and carmalized apples or the Oreo Cookies and Cream Pancakes are full on and they are absurdly delicious and decadent. Everywhere I looked we saw pure sin masquerading as 'breakfast.' At times it was so indulgent that my fiancee blushed. They do have wonderful savory items on the menu as well. Incredible benedicts, my favorite being the crab cake one and the to die for Santa Fe French toast which is a little spicy with the chorizo. There can be a wait on the weekends, but it is well worth it!.

Incredible benedicts, my favorite being the crab cake one and the to die for Santa Fe French toast which is a little spicy with the chorizo. There can be a wait on the weekends, but it is well worth it!.

Oh Toast, how do I love thee? What's not to love about a place that serves incredible pancakes, to die for Santa Fe French Toast, and offers fantastic unlimited high quality coffee and a wide variety of loose leaf teas? Plus, Toast has a great staff, awesome art hanging everywhere and of course again the best pancakes in Denver!

Seriously, all the food items they serve are the best and the espresso is individually pulled each time you order. This place is one of the most welcoming spots. They are quick casual meaning that you come in, place your order, pay, and then sit down. They have people that bring out your food. This works great because when your done eating you can leave, no more waiting for that waiter to give you your check. Exceptional service!!!!! Check it out!
