this is the best spot to go to if u just wanna chill...kinda small n limited space but they play good music..drinks are reasonable prices n very strong

I met the cute bartender John Eric after taking one of the Tuesday night pole dancing classes they offer there during non business hours. He set me up with a cosmopolitan that was exactly the way I like it after my workout. Where else can you relax like that after taking a pole dance lesson, which by the way, was amazing. I didn't realized what a workout pole dancing could be until the next day - I guess I was having too much fun doing the class to notice. The instructor was really cool and knew her stuff if your interested in the classes check out the website for Pole La Teaze, if your interested in the bartender i think he's already taken.

this is a laid back spot on broadway. the bartenders are fabulous, the music on saturdays is great & the drinks are always strong! dimly lit and full of energy, SIP is still one of my favorite bars.

I reserved a VIP table for my 12 guests for 10/27. I reserved event thru emails and felt very accomadated by manager. I arrived with my guests and Eric came out to greet me. He set up my guests at the larger VIP area and our bottle service and mixers were delivered as promised on silver platters and buckets. The whole evening Eric came by to ask if my party needed anything. I was very happy with the service, atmoshere (halloween weekend and lots of costumes) and staff. Its small, stylish and inviting. I highly recommend getting the table service if your group is 6 or more. AND the DJ was on fire that night. I would and WILL go again.

I don't know who the owners of this bar is but now that you have Vard working there you will definitely see me coming to party at your bar. You rock VARD and can make some of the best drinks.

This place is hot! The staff is hot! The fireplace in the back is hot! The couches are "O" so hot! The pole is slippery and hot! The DJ's are always hot!

What a pathetic excuse for a bar. The bartender/owner is a fat nerd who somehow thinks he's cool. Think the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons. What a joke.

The bartender who serves his friends only and ignores other customers becasue he's too busy popping his collar cuz he thinks he's way cool......a) should learn to acknowledge patrons especially if they are standing right next to the person he is busy talking out of his rear (we stood there for 20 mins and he was not helping anyone else) b) if you are working then WORK, if you are trying to dance then at least watch who you knock into with your flailing arms because you are TRYING to dance....take some dance lessons c) if you lnock into someone (even if by accident), apologize!! It reflects poorly on the bar because the employees are rude and obnoxious- ok, really it was just that one bartendar. The female bartenders were great. The door guy was super cool and very nice. The music- eh..it was ok. Maybe it depends on the night and maybe it depends on the DJ....overall not impressive......

this bar is a fave of my friends and I. everyone from the friendly doorman to the welcoming bartenders always go out of their way to make my group happy, and we never have to wait more than a couple minutes for our drinks. the crowd is a nice mix, which is refreshing after the oh-so-expected marina and typical cheezy north beach crowds. also, the size and intimate atmosphere provide a classy ambiance without feeling too crowded or meat-marketesque.

I found this bar on city search, highly recommended, except for the one person who said the bartenders didn't serve people in order. I stood at the bar for at least 30mins so I could order about 5 drinks for my group. I kept getting skipped over, for people the bartender knew on a personal basis. When I finally got the 5 drinks I tipped well so the bartender wouldn't skip me over when I came back. That totally didn't work!!! I finally moved to the other side of the bar where the much faster, less drunk, more attentive, bartender served me. This place brought my birthday down quite a bit. I wasted so much time standing waiting for a drink!!!! Thank goodness for good friends, they kept my birthday from being ruined by this place. Maybe it was an off night, but I wouldn't come back.

I just had my graduation party and Sip Lounge and Bar was the best place I found out of quite a few places that I looked at. Talk to John Eric: he was very helpful. I rented out the lounge room in the back, had food and decorations, and it was all good. The drinks were strong, the atmosphere very comfortable. My guests share my opinion as well. Sip is away from the noise of Columbus, and close to parking garages. If I had to host another party, I would do there again.

Could I love this place anymore? I almost dont want to write a review and let the cat out of the bag. Perfect place in North Beach to escape the B&T crowds further down Broadway and enjoy great drinks and dancing in a perfect atmosphere! Want a crazy night out? This is your place. Looking to sit with friends, lounge and talk? You can always find a quit corner! Its also the perfect place to throw a party; the back room is comfortable and the owner is more than accommodating. And if you are really concerned about the other reviews that bemoan slow service, learn the rules of any bar smile and tip the bartenders!!!

Don't leave the house if you dont wanna have a good time people! Everytime i've been to SIP I have had a fabulous time. There are always those people who are miserable w/themselves and their lives and look to blame it on others. SIP is so fun. Great place to groove to fun music, stop in for a drink or 10 and make lots of new friends. I advise all critics to come out from their corners and actually make eye contact with a bartender if they want a drink and not look around as if they dont know anyone or arent in line! Sip is Chic, Hip, & is bringing a great mix of everyone and everything to China/Beach as I call it. Fun parties and great music! I always recommend sip to everyone & make it a starting or finishing point. Great place to catch a CAB too!

I read the reviews posted by towngirl and hjean before I visited this place for a b-day gathering. Initially I did not think much of the reviews, however, the response from the business struck me as odd. What was up with the sarcasm from the business I thought?

After visiting the place last night, I couldnt agree more with towngirl and hjean's reviews. I waited 20 mins for the first round and 30 mins for the second. The first come first served rule did not apply, which is frustating when one is waiting patiently. Instead of waiting patiently to be acknowledged by the bartender, you were better served if you threw yourself out there to get the bartenders attention.

Hopefully the business will take the reviews as constructive criticism and not answer with such juvenile remarks. Sounds like an immaturity issue which is reflected in the business.

This club could be great if they the manager quit and the bar had a better selection. A regular night at Sip is REALLY empty. Nuff said, im over this place.

Music didn't blow me away, but it wasn't outrageously loud. The setup is good, and the staff very friendly. It's a nice intimate setting. If you're looking for a lounge slightly off the beaten track, this is a good place.

I had a surprise party here for my husbands 30th birthday. The manager and staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and professional. Service was prompt. We reserved the curtained off lounge area for about 30 ppl. Everyone had a great time. DJ was great and had everyone up dancing. I will go back here and would recommend it. Drinks not too expensive. It was crowded but it was friday night on broadway so no surprise here. I would recommend it and will go back.

Contrary to most reviews, I thought the bartenders were responsive and fairly quick here. My biggest problem (and quite a few other people's problem) was the DJ... on Saturday 11/19, the DJ was atrocious, playing undanceable music off of CDs that were not mixed at all... i could have done the same with my computer and iTunes. Combine the music from Rosewood with the ambiance of Sip, you've got a great place.

I ordered a double Redbull and Vodka early in the evening and the bartender charged me $18.00! I don't think there is anyplace in the city, no matter how exclusive or ritzy that charges that. When I asked the bartender why it cost so much, she replied that those were San Francisco prices. I have lived in SF for over 15 years and that is the most I have ever been charged for a drink. You ma want to think twice before you head to this place or plan any gathering in order to avoid that feeling of having been ripped off.

This place hurts. The decor is still cool even though it is reminicient of every other place that has opened in the past 3 years. The designer placed a huge table between the bar and the dance floor in order to cause the most congestion in front of the bar, so no one gets a drink in under 20 minutes. It has a chance to be a decent place, but there are glaring deficiencies. Service needs to be improved.

went there early (6ish) on a thursday and it wasn't overpacked, but the bartender was cool and the drinks were good. liked the atmosphere. will go back.

SIP has great potential. Ive been there a few times and will continue to go back. The past few times have been really busy and the bartenders did the best they could. It was 3 to 4 deep at the bar and they followed the line of people well. The drinks made up for the wait, Didnt have to bitch about them not being strong enough. I would go back, and hope that the next time theres a busy night there will be more bartenders to cater to the busy crowed.

It's too bad that this venue is so nice, because the service was so bad that I will never go back! The bartenders were really slow, and didn't seem to follow the first come, first served rule. Very frustrating.

This place had the potential to be great - it is a good location and the inside is pretty cool. But, waiting for a half hour to get a drink is not okay - especially when the bar isn't that big and there aren't that many people. I thought the first time was a fluke, so when I went back for a second round and waited even longer, I couldn't believe it! And, the bartenders don't pay any attention to who has been waiting for how long - they just arbitrarily choose who to serve....I won't be returning any time soon to this place and I recommend avoiding it if you actually want to get a drink.

This is where Blind Tiger used to be. They did a great job re-doing this place and it is a big improvement on a place that was great the way it was. The drinks were tasty. Try it ASAP.
