The place to go for Korean on the Eastside. I highly recommend their grilled mackerel and dolsot (hot stone pot) bibimbop. You can also grill your own meat at your table, if you prefer Korean style, or ask them to cook it for you. Sushi available as well. Prices are reasonable. Go online for menu, location, etc.

Though their business address is listed here as in Seattle, their restaurant presence is actually in Bellevue on Northup. Korean food seems to be much more difficult to find on the Eastside than all other Asian restaurants. Luckily, this Korean BBQ restaurant just opened up a couple of months ago and offers both barbeque and standard Korean fare. The prices are decent for Seattle, (but expensive compared to places like LA), and they have a wide selection of Korean foods and drinks. For those who dont know, the meal starts out with some small plates of a variety of pickled vegetables as appetizers, and kalbi is a pretty tasty (and standard) cut of meat to order. This place packs up quickly, and they dont take reservations on the weekends, so arrive early.

Did not know much about K-Food, friends took me there. I thought was pretty good (I can't really tell) but my Korean friend said he did not like the food.

Pros: In Eastside

Cons: My friend did not like it

On Saturdays, my friend and I try something other than experimental(We are far from culinary artists) Indian food we've been creating since 2008. Blue Ginger was on the top of the list my Korean friend, Kwang-ho, had given me awhile ago. I believe we were served by a young manager. The food we ordered came with four side dishes and it was good. What made me resentful about my dinning experience in Blue Ginger was not the indifferent and not so friendly attitude of this lady but the number of side dishes two Koreans behind us were having. OMG twelve delicious looking side dishes . Who wouldn't feel discriminated under this circumstance.

Pros: The best BBQ

Cons: Racial Discrimination?

I first ate here and tried there sushi. I have frequented sushi in arizona and california and I am new to the seattle area and will be posting various reviews so you can trust these are non-biased reviews. I always order nigiri to evaluate the quality and freshness. All pieces were very large and decently priced. The sushi was cold and rice room temp. Both times I have had sushi there it was very fresh and very nice presentation. Their squid salad is very fresh and zesty. They have toro, but its not very high quality toro in my opinion but its ok. Yellow tail, tuna, salmon, smoked salmon, eel, and albacore nigiri were all flavorful and very fresh. All nigiri was served traditionally with a little dab of wasabi underneath. It is served with miso soup. You really cant screw up miso soup theres comes with the tofu and the green oninon. They finish it off by serving you with apple and orange slices. It was suggested that I come back there and try Koreann BBQ for the first time. So I come back and get the B1 on the menu which is some beef that comes with some side dishes, some were good some were not. The marinade on the beef is excellent and you cook it yourself. It is seved with rice. All in all its a well rounded place and service is prompt and friendly. I have been there 4 times this month.

Pros: fresh sushi, prompt service

Cons: menu may be intimidating

Good place to try Korean barbecues. Various Korean menu available and most I was satisfied. A little bit americanized though.

My husband and I went here on a friday night. This was our first experience going to Korean BBQ and we found the service to be attentive and waitresses to be very helpfull. The Seafood pancake appetizer was delicious and honestly my favorite part of the meal. We ordered the boneless beef Kalbi and the pork belly. My husband enjoyed the beef kalbi and I loved the pork belly with the grilled kim chee.

While we are novices to Korean BBQ, we found it to be very enjoyable, the food good, the service attentive and helpfull, and the price reasonable for $50 for a TON of food for 2 people.

Pros: Attentive & helpfull service, Good food, Good location & parking

There is so much advertisement done for blue ginger, but i don't seem to understand why!
the food is so meteocre. the kimchee stew i ordeered was like 90% kimchee left over with the soup boiled over with a spoonful of tofu. it was HORRIBLE. i don't understand why it gets so busy. do people not know what GOOD korean food is?

Team of 8 decided to go for lunch today. One was served Seafood instead of beef, one got frozen Tuna and I was the unfortunate one that did not even get my food for 40 minutes. Everyone was done eating and my food was still not there. God help this restaurant because they just lost 8+ customers and they way it looks they will loose more soon.

I could tell that SERVice is a lot better and the side dishes, too. It tastes more fresh.

Pros: Parking, service

Cons: WHEN THEY ARE SUPER BUSY, SLOW SERVICE

They do not offer chicken for their Korean BBQ, and requested us to move out of the BBQ area asap which was terribly embarassing. The host then told us, "No Korean resturant in the Seattle area has chicken for BBQ." That is a complete lie. We ordered a variety of dishes, Korean and Japanese, and just as the previous reviews said, the sushi was not fresh. Very disapointed and will never return again. Who doesn't serve chicken??

Pros: Parking

Cons: Food

I was in on a weeknight and the sushi just wasn't that fresh. The korean food was great and the grilled fish was wonderful.

Pros: korean food and japanese that's not sushi, service is good

Cons: sushi not fresh

For the record I am not Korean, but I just spent the last summer working in Korea. If you've never been to a Korean BBQ then you must visit one once. The best choices for first timers would be their Bulgogi and Calbi. They are both beef dishes cooked on the grill in front of you. I did not eat any Sushi on my visit. The service for us was great, maybe a little too much. Our waitress was friendly and talked quite a lot. She did come around quite often and was very nice. The food in this restaurant is a very good replication of what you will find in Korea, but there are a few differences. Much of the food wasn't spicy at all and some of it too sweet. The Pork Belly tasted like regular old bacon. The environment was great, and actually it looks exactly like the pictures shown above. It has a very modern look. Overall the food was pretty good, but nothing was particularly stunning. However, if you've never been to a Korean BBQ then you must definitely give this place a try.

we're big fans of kbbq and had high expectations for this place, especially since we're from LA. as with everything else we had up in seattle, it was much more fresh and flavorful than back home. we ordered the short ribs, bulgogi, and veggies to grill ourselves, as well as seafood soon tofu and a noodle bowl. all the little appies were standard, but still good, and we went through about four plates of the romaine salad - which you're supposed to eat WITH the meat, btw. service was attentive and value was good. we only waited ten minutes on a saturday night, too.

Pros: filling, but not stuffed, great service

Cons: a little too cold, maybe we were under a vent?

All my korean friends rave about this place. It really is fun but I think we ordered the wrong things. I got the seafood bowl and it was not good. My husband also got a bowl that he didn't like. The menu was very large and we were overwhelmed. Many things looked good and you can cook it at your table. I wish we would have done that. I definately want to try it again but will cook something at the table. It was much pricier to cook something at the table and we were doing a lunch as a family of 5. Next time, I will probably go with some friends.

Pros: Fun atmosphere, unique place

Cons: pricey, gets busy on weekends

I love food, and so does my boyfriend. We eat everything! This is our favorite Korean grill place that we've found. Before Blue Ginger opened, it was Mi-Rak (sp?) in Federal Way, we had a lot of service problems with them. Anyways, try their filet mignon, bulgogi, kabli..they're all favorites. They also serve this romaine salad with this chili dressing, yummy... All their small side dishes come with free refills.

This place is cute and it gets super busy on the weekends. I don't think they take reservations. Crowd is mostly Korean families, so that tells you something. Try it, you won't regret it. Oh, and did I mention that they have great specialty sushi rolls too? I know! So unexpected for a place like this.

Pros: Great food, modern setting, Strip Mall parking

Cons: Crowded on the days you want to go out
