.

At the end of August, we took our truck in to be repaired at Hex Total Care located at 17633 N. Cave Creek in Phoenix (602) 765-9500. The truck was running well, but the base gasket on the carb was leaking fuel. The diagnosis: rebuild the carburetor. Rob Haas quoted 1.5 hours of labor but charged us for 3 hours. This is a very common practice of Rob??s---a classic bait and switch. Rob has done this to us on other occasions. Gabe Heck, the owner, said he would refund the additional 1.5 hours and never did!

Approximately a week later, we were advised that the truck was ready. It would not idle, or stay running; it had to be towed back to Hex. At that point, a brand new mechanic looked at the truck and said, ??You need to have the carburetor rebuilt?. Funny, we had just paid for a rebuild at that shop and the new person was very unaware of that fact. My husband told him that their shop ??supposedly? rebuilt it just last week and that it should be under warranty.

Another week later, after being advised that the truck was running smoothly, we picked it up from Hex. It died while my husband was on his way to work the following morning. Again, the truck had to be towed to Hex. This time we were advised by James, that whoever removed the carburetor just yanked it off. This destroyed all of the vacuum lines. Some were haphazardly taped together and others just dangling loose.

Consequently, the vacuum lines had to be replaced. We did not even make it out of the parking lot this time! It would not stay running. James, their own mechanic, advised that whoever put the truck back together had incorrectly routed all of the new vacuum lines. Some were routed right back into themselves! This was of course after he yelled and screamed, with quite a few expletives that he was going to be working overtime----for which he was not being paid.

The carb overflow line had been re-routed right back into the carburetor---and not into the tank as it should have been.

This scenario has gone on for the last 11 weeks!! A 1.5-hour job----11 weeks!!!

Now we have a truck that will not even start!! Gabe Heck refuses to correct the problem or refund our money. We have been without this vehicle for 11 weeks and now indefinitely, unless we pay another mechanic to fix it correctly.

An additional $150 had to be forked out for a thermostat and vacuum advance. Each time we have gone into the shop?.we literally have had to wait in line to express your dissatisfaction as there are always numerous customers upset with similar concerns. Every time we have gone to Hex there is a new mechanic---staff turn over is the worst I have ever seen.

We are hung up on when we call, my husband was called a ??liar? (not just an inference, but actually called a liar). Gabe Heck refuses to return our calls---they refuse to fix the problem---we were told that they are not going to do any further work on the truck, that it needed a new carb!
I have never seen such incompetence. The manner in which they treat their paying customers is worse than most people would treat their sworn enemy!

It is really no wonder that they are moving locations for the third time in as many years.
