When Diallo and his wife Jamillah decided to open the doors to Coffee Ground, their privately owned coffee shop, they could not have known the impact they would have on that small illinois town. Coffee Grounds is one of the most beautiful and well decorated spaces that has ever housed a coffee house. With exposed brick walls, French doors, hardwood floors, and a wood burning fireplace, Coffee Grounds is the essence of what a meeting Ground is supposed to be.

Both Jamillah and Diallo are wonderful people who love to entertain their guests with warm conversation and some of the best coffee's and tea's in the area. They also open their doors for community meetings and live entertainment. And for that special peace that makes customers feel wanted and appreciated, Coffee Grounds has established a listserv/newsletter that goes out to it faithful reminding them about upcoming events and drink specials.

Coffee Grounds is proud to post the work of artists and writer on their walls. They also boast a wonderful sandwich menu with pastries to go along with your coffee and/or tea.

Coffee Grounds is an oasis in the desert and Waukegan certainly appreciates their company.

PROS: Beautiful atmosphere, warm hosts, good drinks and food
CONS: Wish they were in Chicago
