CD Discus Exchange looks like a hole-in-the-wall local video store. And, in fact, if you walk through its relatively small space, you'll find holes in the smudged walls and worn, torn, threadbare carpeting. On most hot nights, there's not even air conditioning. But what it lacks in decor, it makes up in some incredibly low rental fees for DVDs - just 50 cents for two night rentals. The DVD selection is relatively diverse, although current releases are sparse. However, the owner of the place is a very well-read movie buff, so you can be sure to find some obscure, foreign film if you ask.

The people who work at the Exchange are sarcastic, well-read, but ultimately very funny (Just read some of the "helpful" signs posted for customers' benefit.). These guys remind me of Jack Black and Tom Cusack from the movie High Fidelity (In fact, the owner worked as an extra in that movie.). Beware of being rude or Lincoln Park snooty to these guys - they will flag your account or, worse, delete your membership.

The used CD selection is a bit limited, although due to space restrictions, the store carries most of its CDS in the backroom storage area - just ask for any title you don't see in the main display area. They may have it in back. Prices on the used CDs are comparable to other used music stores. They also buy your used CDs, DVDs, and video games. They also sell used video games and a few movie and music band posters as an afterthought.

The store is open only from 11AM until 9PM seven days a week, and there is no mail slot for returning DVDs after hours.
