I have been going to Flower Mound Eyecare for years and have had nothing but great experiences. Great staff and great doctors. There were a few people that were there for exams also, and were so impatient with the staff. This office stays very busy however always takes care of their patients. The people who write these reviews act as if they have never made a mistake in their life.

On a side note, think before you post someone's NAME on these reviews. Slander and defamation of character are two lawsuits you don't want showing up to your house.

Will definitely continue to give my business to them for years to come.

I have been going to Flower Mound Eyecare for years and have had nothing but great experiences. Great staff and great doctors. The office manager is rude and rigid. I have never been treated the way she treated me and my family by any other office before. The other people in the office were not friendly and pleasant, but were not nearly as rude as the office manager. The doctor was great! I can't understand how he can be so clueless about his office manager and staff. You'd think he would hear the complaints and take some action to make his office a better environment for the customers. I will NEVER go there again. My neighbor and her family has stopped going there too because of how mean spirited and rude the office manager is and how unfriendly the office staff is.

I have been going to FMEC for at least 6 years and have always left with a negative impression. This time was the last straw, I will not be returniing. When paying a premium for convenience of location and preselection of frames, I would expect to receive much better customer service than they give. The women in the office seem to be put out to provide customer service. Pity, it should be a much better experience!

I take my family of four and have been for 2 yrs. Dr Gunn is excellent but the staff of women are very rude and impatient they are more concerned about rushing you out of their. I took my son who had just came in from college and when picking glasses out she recommened a nerdy style persistent on a certain brand. I could Tell my son did not like them but said yes. She rushed and said she did not know when they were going to be ready. We left and of course having secound thoughts so I call and put a hold. I was treated very rude after going a secound time to pick different glasses. I was never called that they were in. I called right before he left back to school. I have been going to this office for 10 years. The doctors are top notch and have never had a problem with the staff.
To all the people posting negative comments...
1) for Kay...If you order glasses - pay for them right then. The doctors are not a layaway program. What makes you think you can use "their" money because you don't want to pay for your glasses when you order them. They did YOU a favor. Where else can you go and NOT pay for something in full when you order it?? NOWHERE. Next time, save your money before you purchase something. It's called budgeting.

2) Who hasn't ever ordered something and it been on backorder? C'mon people. Listen to yourselves. I'm sure the office orders contacts from another company...if it's not available, they can't get it. Why leave bad comments?

3) The lighting in the office could be alot better. It's dark and needs a to be a little brighter.
Overall, the office is alot friendlier and better than the cold retail places you find. If you haven't been here - give them a chance. I find most people that are leaving negative comments do so because they didn't get their way. I've worked in retail for years as well.
Take them with a grain of salt.

tammy is very nice and has been helpful and worked with me when my glasses were scratched really badly . Insurance WARRANTY ran out after ninety days but they gave me a 25% discount which made my new lenses from THEIR LAB only 673.00 Thats after the discount which seems to still be HIGH. Well, I aid my 100.00 down and made it very clear I thought it would take me some time to get them out and Tammy agreed . They called me once wondering where a payment was but I could not pay as my Daughter had just had emergency knee surgery which I had to pay the out of pocket .
Finally Tammy called me today and I fortunately was able to pay but the attitude was "ARE YOU STILL GOING TO GET YOUR GLASSES??/??/? EVER???? I did not appreciate that too much since I explained from the very 1st day that to order them It would take me time to get them out. I am single and do not have a rich husband footing the bills for me. i have alot of other responsibilities and although I make pretty good money alot of others depend on me to help them out in my family. Also , my daughter said she was looked up and down when I had to send her in to pick up my glasses due to illness... DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER . I pay cash for anything I purchase ... not credit cards I live on provided by some husband .... I give them a 3 anyway ..... Have not seen a Doctor there yet since i had my own prescription so cannot rate a DR. BUT I will say the office needs some serious light control !!! so bright in there it is hard to get an accurate idea of how glasses look . invest in some shades please!

I switch from my old doctor because he was a little far away . after my first visit I must say that i will not only never go back, but i am not the type to write reviews about others. These people were so rude and nasty that I vowed never to return. There are so many better options. Dr. Hustava wasn't anything special anyway.

Highly recommend Very Professional and courteous. This was my fist visit and after reading the comments on this site i was not quite sure what the experience would be. I would highly recommend without reservation

I just happened upon this website and read the other reviews for FMEC. I was compelled to write, to emphasize just how bad a business FMEC is. I was strictly going there for the convenience. I always felt rushed by the Dr I saw. The final straw came when I called on a Friday to order a replacement contact lens. I was told the person who does the ordering isn't in. (There's only one person who can do this???) Monday I was told that I would have to come in for an eye exam because it's been 14 months since my exam and I already ordered three replacement lens, that's the rule in TX. I said I never heard of this before and asked why wasn't I told this when I originally called. She said it was a mistake and stated she was sure I've made mistakes in the past. She said she could check with the Dr who would be in, in about 45 minutes. Two minutes later she called and said they could order it. When it came in, she called and said my "eyeball" is in. HUH?? I get the joke, but how about being professional, which this place is not. I have since found a eye care provider, just as convenient and much more professional on every level Reader beware of all the negative comments, there is truth in numbers. Though some may have a positive experience, take note of all the negative comments...they are written for a reason!!!!!!!

I have to agree with the woman taking her family of 5 elsewhere. We used FMEC when my daughter was 3 and got her first pair of glasses. We were happy when Cornelia worked there. We started going to Lens Crafters for the glasses and had excellent care, (not exams, she uses an opthamologist) and now with new insurance thought I'd try FMEC again because it's closer. Sorry i did. Staff was very rude, pushy, rushed us. When my husband and I went for eye exams, we were fine with the docs, just the staff needs adjusting.

Their prices are outrageous. The contact boxes are DOUBLE the cost of other places such as Target or Sam's Club. Go somewhere else to buy if you've had the misfortune of getting the exam done by these people.

Just as another poster mentioned - their exam fees were also strangely higher than anywhere else I've ever visited. This is also quite strange - they sent in a claim to my insurer for my entire year's worth of contacts/glasses even though I never purchased from them. Had to fight to get them to release it.

Take your hard-earned money elsewhere. These people don't deserve it!

I've been going to Flower Mound Eyecare for the last 6 years and have never had a bad experience. I was there on July 17th and the staff was courteous, helpful and efficient. They took the time to break down each charge and how much my insurance would be paying on each of them and I observed them doing the same thing for other customers, going into great detail when they had questions. When I was picking out glasses, I picked out a frame with one of the staff assisting me and she gave me her honest opinion about the style of frame that looked best on me, which steered me towards another pair - a pair that was a good bit cheaper than the first pair I picked and neither were anywhere near $500. All of this was going on on a Saturday morning, when the lobby was full. In addition, the doctors have always been friendly and willing to answer any questions I've had. I'd recommend to all family and friends.

My family and I just moved to Flower Mound last year and we all needed optometrist care. For convenience I decided to try FMEC. My first experience was not pleasant. There was an undercurrent of animosity amongst the staff that was almost palatable. Dr. Gunn was pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable, but everyone else seemed to have the "forced smile, gritted teeth, can I help you?", type of demeanor that can eventually run any good business into the ground. These folks need an attitude adjustment! Dr. Gunn, are you listening?

The rest of my experience included five minutes of playing "20 questions" with the ladies at the front desk to find out why I was being charged $90 out of pocket for something that was routinely taken care of by the same insurance company at my old optometrist. (I'm still not satisfied with the response.) The lady that helped me with the glasses was nice at first, but it seemed as soon as she realized I wasn't going to spend $500 on a pair of "back-up glasses", her attitude went to crap too.

I need to thank them for both visits... my first and my last. This family of five is going elsewhere.

I have gone to FMEC since moving to Flower Mound in 1999. I have never had a bad experience. The doctors and the office staff are top notch, never keep us waiting, have fit us in for emergencies and are thorough. I am now taking my two children and I know they are getting the best care possible.

Every time I, or my boyfriend, have gone in, we've had negative experiences. We're both friendly people but upon approaching the front desk on SEVERAL different occasions, there was considerable attitude from the clerks from the start. It always seemed to both of us that we were interrupting somehow when we were the customers and it was their JOB to help us. When I didn't understand part of how the insurance worked, I was spoken to in an irritated tone, and I felt that was an unkind and unprofessional manner in which to behave. Again, it's their JOB to help people and I just wish they would smile and be kind. Act like you enjoy your job at least for the sake of your customers. As for the Dr. we each only saw him once and though he was polite, he seemed to be distracted and unenthusiastic about his day. The exam and contacts were good quality, but it took an entire month for my boyfriend's contacts to arrive. I've worn contacts for the last 12 years and have never had to wait that long. I don't recommend them because of their customer service, but I did get quality eye care.

Dr. Hustava and Dr. Welding are two great optomitrists and happy to see you. Their office also sells a good variety of eye glasses and a great optician to help make selecting the right one for you. They also steered me to a great Lasik facility in Grapevine (Clearview) and I did all my follow up visits here in Flower Mound.
