If you pay with a card better check your online statement.\r
They charged my card not once, not twice, but three times.\r

Other than that, the food was so so - I've definitely had much better and at a better price. The drinks weren't

I'm writing this review because I love the place, (esp. for its great happy hour) and I don't want the place to get a bad rep due to one bad apple.
Came into the bar (1/19) and ordered a beer. I have an accent so I understand it's

Its too bad I cant give a zero star rating. We went with a group of 6 @ 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Place wasnt busy at all, only 3 tables in use. Now I know why, it was really BAD. Service was distracted and had to request a lime wedge 4

I've hosted two office happy hours at Dewey's and plan to return for more events. Ed the owner has been a pleasure to work with in coordinating the events. The upstairs bar is a great venue with plenty of room and the convenience of a private bar and televisions. Definitely a great place to go - no attitude, just a relaxed good time.

I have gone to Dewey's many times since discovering it several years ago. The atmosphere is inviting, the staff is always cordial and the owner has always been readily available to determine "how things were going".

Great place to stop and enjoy a little "down time"!!!

I would highly recommend heading to Dewey's after work for good drinks and a pleasant atmosphere. The lively downstairs bar is great for a quick drink and chat with other local professionals and the upstairs bar is good for unwinding. Always great mix of music. Bring a group of colleagues from work and make it a night. If Ed is managing that day, make sure to say hello. Regulars are welcome.

We went online for a singles party for Valentines day, we found this place which seemed to be a great time, and it turned out to be horrible. There was a 2 for 1 drink special til 11 and we had enough time for one order..One of my friends said their "Well" Drink definitely tasted like it came from a well, another said it tasted like a dirty sock, and was just overall bad...The bathrooms i could of swore came from willy wonka that the oompa loompas used...I dont know who said that it was a good "anti valentines" party but they shouldnt dare attempt that next year...For a Bar its a great name, but try getting a few decent looking people there next time...The only good thing was the music, i cant say anything bad about that...

We have an event at Dewey's every year; a fundraiser to help raise awareness about Autism. The food is always outstanding, the drinks go down smoothly and the atmosphere can't be beat. The lounge upstairs is comfortable and warm...a great place to meet friends for a drink or organize a bigger gathering. The people are accommodating, friendly and genuine. I look forward to going there each year and highly recommend you finding the opportunity to stop in for a bite and some drinks!

I work in the area and love the fact that the 'oasis' of Dewey's is a stones throw away from my office. Whether it be for a quick bite of lunch, or a much needed beverage post a long day at work, it is comforting to know that there is an establishment close by offering the old world charm the great bars of this city are renown for; a great selection of beers and beverages; a diverse menu with something for everyone; and a warm and freindly staff who go above and beyond to make your time their enjoyable.

One of the great things about Manhattan is that you can always find a place that is unique. And for me that place is Deweys Flatiron because it has great atmosphere, a fine selection of beers and one of the best steak sandwiches that I have ever tasted. I am referring to the Ribeye steak sandwich served on French bread with fries. I had it the other day and It just melted in my mouth. Add to that a nice cold beer and you are in epicurean heaven. I also found the staff to be cordial and very attentive to our needs, coming over several times to see if everything was fine. The fact that there is some history connected to the place ( Admiral Dewey stands tall at the entrance) and incorporates an atmosphere of by-gone NY made the experience of eating there that much more pleasurable. To me and my party everything was perfect and the prices of the food were very reasonable. If you are looking for a very unique experience and great food and wonderful atmosphere you have to go to Deweys Flatiron. You will not regret it.

I'm not sure what some of the people below are talking about. Dewey's is awsome. Everytime I go I have a great time with my friends. Sometimes we're at the bar and sometimes at a table and either way the service is good... can it be crowded at times? Well, one person's crowded is another person's fun, and it seems as though a lot of other people think it's fun too. If you want only one deep at the bar and open tables, I'd suggest TGI Fridays... if you want fun scene with a good mix of women and men having a great time, Dewey's is your place. Food is good... sure it's not Le Cirque... it's a local restaurant/bar! I've had the pizza, the wings, and they're pretty good, but I was there last week with a date and I had a great steak and she had the steamed Salmon...

I have been going to this bar for 10 years. Always great and friendly staff and good food for the money. Tip big and you will receive buy backs galore. Great parties and great time here. I was there on Superbowl when a bunch of 20 year old a**holes came in the place and made a HUGE scene! $40 bucks for all you can drink and your complaining? Theres not a better deal in the city. If you don't like the wings get your money back and leave. Instead they keep sending the wings back, were rude and caused a scene and distracted everyone in the bar with their freak show. I'd like to see these prep school kids running ANYTHING except thier mouths. Go back to the upper east side and stay at your lounges. Then after all this they go write bad reviews... Go there Friday happy hor and decide for yourself. Don't listen to some 20 year trust fund punk.

Absolutly horrible!!! Bartenders are stuck up and lazy. Had wings that were boiled and the sauce was just plain bad. Pizza smelled like garbage. The kitchen staff and manager should not only be fired, but shot as well. Wouldn't suggest this place to my worst enemy. Never ever go here.

$40 all you can eat wings and domestic drafts sound like a good deal. Not at Dewey's Flatiron!! The buffalo wings were the worst I have every had. They were boiled and fatty. The first plate that came out was room temperature at best. It was sent back. The second plate was just at cold at the first, and was sent back. The third was still cold. These wings wouldn't have been good if they were hot. It took the kitchen the first half of the Super Bowl to finally send out hot wing but they were still poor wings. The nachos had tomato sauce on them instead of salsa. There was only one waiter for about 70 people. When we complained to a manager he said he would go into the kitchen and find out what happened. He didn't come back until the game was over and was very rude and unappologetic. The bartender complained about the tips she was getting and insulting people in the parties. She wasn't mixing any drinks just pouring beer. This place might be the worst place in New York City. Avoid it at all cost.

I went here last night for the Super Bowl and had the worst experience of my life. Although the deal of all you can eat wings and beer for $40 sounds enticing, it was definitely not worth it. By far the worst wings in the city. They must have been the leftovers from the last year's Super Bowl. Also, the place was severely understaffed. How could you be so understaffed on Super Bowl Super Bowl?? One waiter for 50 people. That's ridiculous. I've gotten better service from the DMV. I will never go here again.

Can't think of any reason why you'd want to go here. Tried it out with a group of friends and it took about a year to get food and the wings were possibly the worst we've ever had. We're not big complainers so we just asked for some new batches, which were also cold....The rough management rule here is 1 waiter to every 50 people in there. There was literally a symphony of people complaining the entire game.

The inside offers no more than any other run of the mill bar in the city, so if you're in the area I'd recommend walking right by it and stopping at the next one.

I like the atmosphere and there are great beers on tap however the bartenders were horrendous! They are extremely rude, make disgusting drinks (don't order a martini) and blatantly ask for tips (even if there is a pile of cash on the bar in front of you). I've never been treated so badly by bartenders in my life. There are so many other great bars in the area to go to. Never again!

When I first moved to NYC and went to Dewey's my impression was that it was a fancy schmancy NYC club. Now with 6 years of experience under my belt, I go there and see it as an average bar. Really. The music is pretty good with lots of hip hop dance music. The drinks are average in every way. Maybe I am just getting older or am I getting more fancy?

By the time the waitress return to our group area, it was too late to cancel the order. She completely ignored me the whole time I was present and regarded me as invisible, a total statute, as I had to walk up directly to the woman in her face to order one (1) Cosmopolitan drink. It took approximately 10 minutes for her to return with my drink which she wouldn't take my payment until another 10 minutes later! I got hungry as I have not eaten since 2pm working until 7:20pm, when I arrived at Dewey's on Thursday night and looking at the menu there was nothing good to wet my appetite. I have a curfew deadline to make and the waitress took an extremely LONG time to serve my order which I saw a new member was already served. Thus, I could not stay longer to wait for the bloody burger. The woman was not smart as she could have carried 2 orders (the new member and including mine) at the same time. Does one (1) crab cake burger take 40 minutes to prepare and another 20 minutes to serve?

There were at least 20 people in our group on Thursday night which is a lot of people to served by one (1) waitress who was inexperienced and extremely inefficient. I must suggest NOT to make a return. Working in a service industry (either restaurant or retail) it is my duty to serve customers in an efficient, respectful and knowledgeable manner which this waitress does not possess any efficiency and neither is the kitchen staff at Dewey's. Time is money in New York City, a big metropolis and obviously this waitress has no regard for time or efficiency or excellent customer service. Having been previously with my former love, an experienced avid cook who had pervious professional restaurant experience there should ALWAYS be more than one chef on duty in the kitchen. There was NO bus boys on Thursday attending our group in cleaning to discard empty food containers or empty drinks.

I refuse to give any gratuity for extremely lousy SLOW service.

DO NOT BOOK PRIVATE PARTIES HERE! We booked a private party for 75-100 in their upstairs room two months prior to the event (being held on a Tuesday night - not usually a busy night for Dewey's, we've used them before, and they've been happy for our business on slow weeknights) Called a week before to double check our reservations - and they were. At 8:30 pm on the night before the party, Dewey's called us to let us know they had just that day received a slightly larger party and we were being bumped. Imagine having to reschedule your event at 9pm - the night before your event, (finding a new venue, reaching all the invitees, and everything that goes along with that). Take it from someone who learned the hard way that Dewey's is not a reliable private party space - don't take the risk. There are a number of bars of this level or better - in the area, no less - that would never do that to you - I should know, I've used them.

The bartender provided terrible service, telling me to walk to the other end of the bar if I wanted to get served, because she wouldn't cover the whole bar. They forgot my food order - after I reminded a bus boy and the bar tender twice. When presented with the bill (including the food), I asked about the food and the bartender got nasty with me before she agreed to take it off.

Oh - and the place smells of smoke in the front (towards the street) and like someone upchucked in the back.

I'd rather stay home and watch score updates on ESPN's website than watch football there again!

Went to Deweys a couple of weeks ago around 7 and only planned on having a drink or 2 but wound up staying a lot longer because the music was so good! They played the best 90's & 80's music I've heard in a long time! I asked the DJ if i he played there every week and he said yes, and that they call it "Throwback Thursdays". He played songs that I haven't heard in a long time and even played a couple of my requests.
Definitely will be back and recommend it to anyone who's a fan of good 80's & 90's music!!

I go to Deweys pretty frequently and I don't understand what the previous review is talking about. I've usually gotten served by the cute bubly girl Amanda, or short redheaded girl (Jennifer? Jess?) and I LOVE THEM! Ther are funny and prompt and always have great energy and service. Only complaint is the draft beers are overpriced.

Pros: AWESOME WAITRESSES!

Cons: Pricey drafts-- Needs a better happy hour special

So this guy walks into a bar... me! And it's packed in front, with the 30-something crowd screaming at the top of their drunken little lungs. The score of flat-screen TVs on the wall all show the same football game with the sound off.
Upstairs, I figure, is the quiet bar. A sign says Private Party 7 to 9 PM. I check my watch. It's 9:30, so I go upstairs. Half the tables are empty and it's nice and quiet.
"I'm sorry," says the waitress/guard at the top of the stairs. "There's a private party. You'll have to sit downstairs."
Back downstairs, in a corner table: There are a ton of people around me. All standing, though there are several empty tables. Maybe sitting isn't fashionable this year. A waitress passes, I signal to her. She disappears into the kitchen. 10 minutes later. Another waitress passes. HELLO! I shout. She disappears into the kitchen. 10 minutes later. The first waitress passes again. YOO-HOO! I shout and wave. She disappears into the kitchen.
I stand up, walk over to the kitchen door, and stand there, arms folded, waiting for a waitress to exit. GOTCHA!!! I say, not quite tackling her. "Can I get a drink and a menu?" I ask. 10 minutes later, I finally have both. Service went downhill from there.
Michael Y's beer came in a broken glass. When he complained, the waitress took his glass, with the remaining beer... And that's all. She just took it away.
The Buffalo wings were great, though. I'll give 'em that.

Dewey's advertizes itself as a place to watch football, so imagine my surprise when I walked in at 1:30 on a Sunday to find all of 7 people there, and the staff still scrambling to get the tv's tuned into football. Sadly, the only reason they'd even started to do that was because the patrons who'd come to watch games had to ask them. More than once. Once that was taken care of, the service couldn't have been worse. It was slow and our waitress practically had to be chased to get an order in. Never again. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Ever. Horrible experience.

My experiences at Dewey's Flatiron could be summed in 3 words: Awesome Happy Hour. The prices are most definitely affordable and the drinks are fantastic. Waitresses, while as busy as they are, have been quite good despite being understaffed. I've found that while its can be dark and gloomy on the inside, it provides a particular ambiance that is both romantic and exciting at the same time. And yet, this is a great place to catch some of the latest games that are happening in the sports world. Definitely recommended for Happy Hour, especially after work or for a beer alternative beyond Shake Shack at Madison Square Park.

I visit New York City multiple times a year and every time I visit I stop by Dewey's Flatiron. This ouststanding place has a great feel awesome drinks, and wonderful music. I would rank their Bar Tender Jeff Kapri right up there with the best Bar Tender in New York City. He is very polite, quick, and steady. He seems to be able to serve 50 people at a time without keeping anyone waiting. A truly Great place I loved their Chicken Tenders!!!

Its a great duplex pub with full bars on both floors but the music always tends to be just a few hundred decimals too high. The Guinness is poured perfectly and the wait staff very friendly and efficient. Usually post-frat guys are in the after work crowd are gathered downstairs watching sports on the TV.
