Start with the free bread and olive oil and work your way to a Meze sampler, where you can choose your favorites (humus, falafil, ezme and mushrooms were our selections....) The stuffed cabbage is great, and reasonably priced (about $10.) This is a nice change of pace from the millions of pubs in the neighborhood.

Cousin's offers affordable ($7-10 average entree) Middle Eastern cuisine with an emphasis on Turkish and Lebanese dishes. The free bread and crisps basket that comes with the meal is a meal in itself - very warm, fresh, and mouthwatering when dipped in olive oil. The restaurant serves ample portions and a wide variety of vegetarian dishes. The restaurant also offers takeout and deliveries. My favorite dish is the sampler plate filled with tons of hummus, olive oil, dolmates, falafel, and Lebanese bulgur wheat cucumber salad.

The decor is a combination of Western white tablecloth and candles for formal dining. However, the other part of the dining room contains pillows, Persian carpets for sit-on-the-floor coziness.

On some nights, belly dancing and even dance classes in salsa and ballroom dance are offered.

If you're tired of the pizza and pub grub fare usually offered in Lakeview and Lincoln Park, check out this place for something a little more exotic
