I have been here before with college mates & it was always wonderful but this last Sun night, I brought my two little girls in and they were spoiled!! Eric and the staff gave them so much attention (while spoiling all the other customers too!)..they had a tour upstairs and down, met the characters running around and drank their Shirley Temples! My girls said that this was the BEST part of our trip to NYC (it even beat American Girl, all the shopping, other restaurants, museums??everything to them!!)?I had no idea that they would love it so much but I think the wildly excellent service was what pushed them over the top! The theme and decor is excellent too..I completely recommend this place esp if Eric is around??you will LOVE it! Bring your family! We will go now every time?<3

I visited there on Sunday, May 16, 2010 with family. It was girls weekend in NYC. We thought it would be a fun place and it was. BUT, the food was very bad. You can get a better meal out of a jar or frozen food. Spoke to the manager. Will discourage anyone from wasting their money on food there. Have a drink and move on.

Very disappointing. I read good reviews but that was not the case. The food was fair at best and the decor and actors in costume were lame. Do not spend your money here. We had a fabulous dinner in Little Italy the following night for less than our bill here and that included the tip.

Fun place to take tourists or friends visiting the NYC area. The atmosphere is spooky and gives you a sense of being in an old-time horror movie. The staff is really into their characters, and they walk around the restaurant throughout your meal trying to scare and spook you. The food is similar to that you would see in a Fridays type of restaurant. More for the experience/atmosphere than the food.

The decor is gothic. There are robots of movie monsters such as frankenstein, the mummy, and warewolf. There are entertainers - one is a woman from 19th century london named amnesia and the other a mad scientist. Both are entertaining for about an hour, but then just get annoying after that. The food is ok and the prices are average. It's ok to go to this place just once for the experience.

The line to get into Jekyll & Hyde is often 2 hours long. The food is average and way overpriced. The restaurant is a cross between the Munsters living room and Freddy Kreuger's worst nightmare. During dinner there is often entertainment going on. People in costumes walking by. Magic acts. Movie reenactments. Things like that. More for kids than adults but its still fun to go at least once.

There are two Jekyll and Hyde restaurants in New York: one is located in the swanky, touristy midtown area not far from the Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood; the other is hidden away in the more earnest and friendly West Village. The West Village restaurant is much smaller, with only one floor - but this becomes the advantage of the place. It's much cosier and friendlier - and much more fun - than the other, bigger place.

The waiters are also actors: they will abuse you verbally in the most hysterical ways while serving you food. There is a butler whose sole job it is to walk around trying to freak out the diners - or at least make them blush. There is a talking gargoyle with a bit of a cold on the wall, a grumpy mummy, and generally most things that hang on the walls will try to stick their nose in your dinner conversation if they can.

The food is great, though a bit pricey. They also have a long and quite funny list of original drinks with names like Frontal Lobotomy, most of them very tasty and weird looking. At one point they also have a woman in a sexy nurse's outfit serving colorful shots in lab beakers. With all this great liquor flowing, it's a cruel joke that the hallway to the bathrooms is made to look like there are rows of books lining the walls with no doors to the bathrooms in sight! You have to basically bang on the walls until part of them swings open, which gets more fun the drunker you get.

PROS: Great atmosphere, wait staff are actors, interactive entertainment
CONS: A bit pricey
