I paid $75 adoption fee for the sickest kitten ever! I've spent almost $300 on an animal that I only had a few days, just to rush it to the vet!!! Vet said the shelter should've had this kitten under vet care and NOT adopted out due to the sever upper respiratory infection and nasty ringworm! The kitten was getting to know our home for not more than a few days and has been locked up in my bedroom in such a miserable state! I'm doing all I can, but geez, who in their right mind would let a family adopt a kitten that is suffering?!?! At the request of the vet and her staff, I called the shelter because they said the shelter should foot half the bill, and I was told the kitten was all my responsibility once I signed the contract and walked out the door! She had NO concern for the kitten's well being whatsoever...geez and I thought by adopting I'd be keeping my older cat safe from disease! Never again will I adopt from this facility!!!!!

In 2003 we adopted one of the best dogs we have ever owned from the League City Animal Shelter. She was older (approx.7 yrs.), but she was housebroken and already had some basic training. She had been picked up as a stray, but she had been in the shelter for 3 months because they saw her potential. She barked at anyone who approached her cage, and apparently had scared-off any potential adopters, but when I knelt down and talked very softly to her she calmed down and started wagging her tail....and she's been that way ever since! Deciding to go to the shelter that day was one of the best decisions I've ever made! Addie (who they were calling Missy in the shelter) is now quite old, but she is still the sweetest and most protective dog anyone could ask for! We have two other "shelter dogs", and she mothers both of them. Thank you for the work you do at the shelter. I know it isn't an easy job, but you are MUCH appreciated. Thank you for saving our sweet old girl.

One of the best shelters around, in my opinion. I adopted a kitten from here, and the people who work here really know their pets. The kitten and dog rooms are exceptionally clean and the price is affordable; Free.

This is an amazing place. My boyfriend and I both got cats from here. The shelter is so amazing with their pets, and so very knowledgeable about each individual animal. This allows them to be able to better match pets to owners. They even have this one lady who volunteers her own time and money to the cats. She even called me up and gave me her cell phone number and said that if I ever need any help or advice. They try very hard to match pets. They even have kept pets there for a year while trying to place them. They have a great fostering network. The hours are even extended 3 days a week until 6, so that working people have an opportunity to find a pet. There is no adoption fee, but you have to get your pet fixed and have a rabies shot within 30 days of adoption, or you will be ticketed.

PROS: Everything!
CONS: Nothing!
