Loved my doctors over the years. Never had any problems. If I had anything negative to say, it would be that I would have loved to have been able to stay with a couple of different doctors. They were always good to me, and I have nothing to complain about.

This is not your neighborhood dentist, this is a somewhat impersonal service that can seem a little harsh at times.

At first, the reception is less than welcoming, and the main telephone operator (on my last call) was outright rood.

Although, with that being said... after my initial paperwork was completed, I found the incoming receptionist "Buddy" to be a pretty nice guy with a decent sense of humer and quite helpful.

There was a considerable amount of wait time to get into the financial department to talk about my insurance. But this is understandable with the volume of patients I saw there ahead of me.

This was just a preliminary visit for me there and I expect the student - patient rapport to be much more personal.

I am going back next Monday to drop off x-rays and hopefully get some solid info regarding my future treatment... I'll let you know how all that goes.

I agree with Lanajean's earlier review. UOP is one of the top dental schools in the country, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants to take care of their teeth while on a budget. You do have to be patient, as it's always the case with any other teaching clinics or hospitals.

THis is a good dentist office for people that may not have dental insurance. This is a school so it will take you longer to get what you need done to your teeth but if you can be patient it's worth it. I would not recommend this place to younger children because their attention span just isnt good enough for the wait you have to do in order to be seen.

This school provides a great service for people who don't have dental insurance. The students are very professional and all work is over seen by a superior. Sessions can be lenghty but prices are discounted.

University of the Pacific is a well known dental school that operates a clinic in San Francisco. Discounts are offered in exchange for letting dental students do the work. No work is performed without the approval of a dental instructor, and the work is graded so there's an incentive to do a great job on your teeth. They can perform most any work, from routine exams to root canals. I had several fillings done here, including replacing metal with white fillings. I got a 2nd year student, having no problems. Some international students have already worked as dentists in their home country and are becoming USA certified.

PROS: very detail oriented care and lower cost than commercial dentists
CONS: appointments can take up to four hours each at peak times
