I don't think this store is still in business anymore (thank God), but just in case, I wanted to get this out there. If he is still in business - even doing maintenance, please don't give them business!

The owner, while he may be knowledgable about fish, is horribly mean to beginners (not in a constructive criticism way either). He is rude and does not follow through on promises to order items (even if paid in advance). After trying to order an item for a couple of months, I finally received it...and still never even received a receipt or warranty!!!

One day while I was shopping in the store, I overhead the owner talking to a client about all the things the client was going to purchase. The owner was very pushy, telling the customer he needed items that are commonly known throughout the hobby to be junk. After that customer left, the owner then sat around joking with one of his employees over how that customer was one of his best b/c the guy would buy just anything...and then was making fun of how much he overcharged the customer. It made me sick!!!

From a more ethical standpoint, the store consistently carried marine life that absolutely should NOT be kept in captivity.

There are MUCH better aquarium stores in Dayton, and much better maintenance companies. Coral Ranch is a great one, so is Marine Solutions, and Aquatic Specialists opened within the last year up in Troy. Visit those places - don't give Aquarium's Etc a reason to re-open!!!

Pros: Owner is knowledgable about fish

Cons: Rude, little knowledge of corals, does not fulfill promises

The owner was very generous to dispense with free advice. He's very knowledgeable on all things fish and you can tell he's a real enthusiast. Pretty cool collection of salt water fish.
