My fiance and I looked here as a possible wedding venue. This venue is quite pretty for a wedding. It sits on the banks of Farrington Lake in East Brunswick NJ and has an awesome outdoor lakeside ceremony site. The indoor area for the reception is quite pretty, albeit a litle oddly setup, with 2 sides of HUGE windows that look out at the ceremony site and lake area.
The cocktail hour is held on the patio, weather permitting, which is a lovely feature. However, the trouble is if the weather does not cooperate ...everything (ceremony, cocktails and reception) take place in one room with breakdown going on in front of your guests.
The food is rumored to be good and the wedding menu was sufficient for the pricing.
The two most disappointing items were (1) the outside decor as you pull into the parking lot the front of the building is somewhat drab and dated (2) a bridal house (instead of bridal suite) is mentioned and fits up to 50 people and has a pool table. The pool table is tiny, but it's also in a tiny room. And the furniture and decor in the bridal house is both dated and not kept up with well. Lastly when we went (June 2006) there was a strong musty/mildew odor to the house and several broken window pains. The place really needs a ladies touch and is obvious it lacks it. (Two men, the owner and a grounds keeper care for everything and seem a little lax in the frequency of upkeep, especially for the bridal house). (3) There's about 4 or so fountains most of which are little sad as they do not pump water well enough to be a fountain.
PROS: Lakeview, pricing, friendliness
CONS: Bridal house, outside decor, fountains
