I have recently purchased both a large screen DLP television and a HD digital camcorder from ABT. Their staff is very knowledgeable and they have great deals on floor models and returned items. They routinely offer great financing deals and they serve chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven and coffee. On a Saturday or Sunday it can be kind of packed and chaotic in there but it is still my number one choice to go to from electronics.

In the past, I've purchased my appliances from ABT and have been very happy. There are tons of sales people and since it is a huge showroom, there are a lot of models to look at. I recently went in to purchase new everything since I just moved into a new house. My sales rep did not want to bargain (which is what ABT is all about). I left and spent 7K elsewhere.

As an FYI, you can typically get the ABT people to knock off a few hundred, depending on what you are buying.

This store offers not only excellent prices on electronics and appliances, but they also have amazing "model showrooms" set up for kitchens, baths, and home theaters. They carry everything from common kitchen appliance brands to high end entertainment components, as well as small appliances like KitchenAid mixers. We bought our dishwasher there, and will buy our new washer/dryer there when it's time!

This may be the best store in the area for new appliances and electonics. They have been in buisiness over 50 years and guarentee their products. They offer delivery within the area for the larger appliances. Their prices on big screen TVs and home entertainment centers can't be beat. The store itself is beautiful and located only a couple of miles north of Chicago.
