I was a patient at Fairfax Ob-Gyn Fair Oaks office. The staff are unprofessional, the doctors are constantly yelling at the staff and the office space is run down. They were late every appointment. I was kept waiting from 15 minutes to an hour every visit. I do not recommend going to this practice for any service - be it ob or gyno. I think Fairfax Ob-Gyn used to be a thriving practice but the lack of investment in office upkeep and the recent departure of employees makes it seem as if the office won't be around for much longer.

I used this practice for my first pregnancy. Unfortunately, I had an extremely difficult first pregnancy and Fairfax Ob-Gyn was less than helpful. They were unwilling to write a note to my employer explaining the situation. I ended up hospitalized in another state in my 3rd trimester and no one from the office tried to contact me or follow up with the hospital doctors. Once I returned home and was on bed rest, my doctor at Fairfax Ob-gyn would not help me saying " we need to see you to treat you" ignoring that I was on hospital doctor's orders to be in bed. I ended my relationship with Fairfax Ob-Gyn over the phone and I am much happier now that I have switched to another doctor.

when i found out i was pregnant, i wanted to get into see the doctor ASAP. this office could get me in quickest, so i went. huge mistake. the office is cheap: urine samples were taken in a dixie cup, if you had to use a card to pay for the services the company charged you an additional $3 (they justified by saying that they charge you because the credit card company charges them). and then when i decided to leave their practice to go to adler center (who has been wonderful) i needed to get my chart. i faxed in the release, indicating that my boyfriend would pick up the chart (because he works in woodbridge, i work in crystal city). i indicated this on there three times, but they mailed the chart to my home. luckily, i live with my boyfriend and we are thrilled to be having a child together, but i couldn't help but thinking that if this had happened to a woman who was in a relationship with an abusive man or to a younger female who lived with her parents and hadn't yet told them of her pregnancy, the ramifications could have been disasterous, even deadly. when i called the practice to tell them about the error, the manager Claudia said in an apathetic voice, "I'll look into it."

during my 2 visits, i got no words or wisdom and no guidance. being that this is my first pregnancy, i asked the nurse practicioner, "what should i do or not do?" and all she said was, "keep doing what youre doing" without knowing anything about what i was doing. i could have been drinking/smoking/eating sushi every night, she wouldn't have known. i just can't believe the lack of caring demonstrated by this office.

do not make the same mistake that i did in going to this place. wait the extra week and go to the adler center.
