Reviews for Pearl Paint

Ratings_icons Nice arts and crafts store

I used this store for all of my architectural supply needs. They have 5 floors of everything related to art and architecture. They offer good prices and a student discount. Its a tight store though and can get crowded!

PROS: Student Discounts
CONS: No parking, cramped store

Ratings_icons Best Art Store In NY & The World!

Sharon F. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,498

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this fabulous establishment??

1. Extensive inventory

2. Friendly, Down to earth & Professional Staff that KNOWS what they're talking about (a rarity in other so-called overpriced supply stores)

3. Absurdly AFFORDABLE prices for art supplies (both professional and novice--even a section for kids!)

4. Clearance section that you can always find that extra something you weren't looking for before...

5. Easy access by train or bus. Pearl Paint is located in the heart of Chinatown, right next to Wall St. There's always something to see or do down there. They open relatively late too, so that's another plus. After you've nearly emptied your wallet, go spend your remaining money on some delicious Chinese food in any of the numerous restaurants in the area.

PROS: Big Inventory, Constantly stocked, Very Affordable & Nice Staff
CONS: No Cons. I wish I could shop here on a daily basis.

Ratings_icons Big store

Hi W. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 11,958

It is so big that it gets confusing where everything is. They have satellite stores on small streets that look deserted. However, their art selection is one of the best in the city. Prices are good as well. The staff is always helpful. When you buy something big, they will wrap it up for you to make it easier to carry. The stairs needs to be expanded because it is narrow and wooden.

Ratings_icons Great Store

Susan L. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,302

Pearl Paint is the best place to shop for all your air supplies needs. They sell everything and more. The staff are great and know where everything is. They are alway ready and willing to help. The store itself and huge with five floors. It can be a little difficult sometimes to naviagate the stairs since the building is old. If you are into arts and crafts just walking around the store will get your creative juicies flowing.

Ratings_icons The candy shop for artists.

Dina A. | insider Insider | Rank: 14,002

You can find just about almost everything in artistic Pearl Paint. This place is stacked, from five ( last I checked ) floors, and not including the Craft Center, the Frame Center, and Home Design center, right behind the actual store!

Staff varies from time to time. If you get an old staff memeber, he is most likely to ramble on about art with you and even include offers. The younger the staff gets, the less patient they are and friendly ( one would think the other way ). The prices are decent even for a starving artist since they always have sales. They offer a 10 percent discount if you go to school, and you can sign up for their newsletter at the counter. Take the stairs, for an average elevator ride is about 10 minutes.
