Chez Hay Catering Inc

I'll start with the good. The building is beautiful and not a bad price compared to other places in Lincoln. The bad, is the food was not at all what we expected. I sampled the beef skewers at a tasting and they were very good. They were about the size of a small steak. However, when they catered the beef skewers at our wedding, they were the size of ice cubes and very cold! Many of our guests mentioned it. It was really embarrassing. Also, I had to grab the servers at one point in the night to bring out more pork sandwhiches. I shouldn't have to do that. The servers should be on top of that throughout the night. The tray was completely empty. We also were not priced for punch or tea when we went to the Chez Hay to talk about pricing. The tea/punch is $15 a gallon! So, all you brides out there make sure that you price everything. We thought that was way too high. One more thing, we were told by the head lady that The Chez didn't have a fridge that we could use to store our desserts. Then we were approached by a guy named "Jewl." Jewl said there was plenty of room to store our desserts. In fact, the Chez Hay has an entire refridgerated room with tons of space. We appreciated Jewl's honesty. He is there to please the customer. Ask for Jewl if you need anything. The head lady seems to be confused and lies about things.

The sample tasting of the food was good, but when the food was actually catered at our event, it was NOT good. The meat was dried out, and the salad was very wilted. I suggest that Chez Hay take a little more care in preparing their food. I would NOT recommend this caterer to anyone.

I am amazed at the negative comments in the previous review! The owner of this amazing business is an honest, fair, and intelligent business woman, who's main concern is pleasing her clients. I have used her catering services for corporate lunches, holiday parties, and private events over the last several years and have always been completely satisfied. I have also been a guest at several events where her food and staff were used and have NEVER had a less than wonderful experience...in fact, I carry her business cards with me and pass them out all the time! If I did not firmly believe in the exceptional level of food and service that is always provided by Chez Hay Catering and the owner, I would not continue to use their services or recommend them! Keep up the good work Chez Hay and I look forward to our next event!!!

Chez Hay is by far the best caterer in the Lincoln/Omaha area. The food is delectable, the service is outstanding and the personnel is excellent to work with.

If you are looking for a banquet space, they have a great modern urban loft in downtown Lincoln that is excellent for weddings, tailgate parties, business meetings etc.

As for Ingrid's response, I've personally worked with the owner numerous times and find her very pleasant and professional.

I highly recommend Chez Hay.

The food looked like it would be good, the workers were nice, the event space was okay, . . . but the owner was terrible. She was extremely rude to us, as we tried to find out about using Chez Hay for our wedding reception. Bad at communicating, very unfriendly, and just generally rude and unpleasant to work with. Needless to say, we did NOT choose Chez Hay for our wedding reception, and neither should you! People like her should learn that when you are rude to your customers, you'll soon cease to have any.

Chez Hay Catering Incorporated provides gourmet catering services to Lincoln. It is true gourmet food, carefully prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients for unique and memorable flavors. And Chex Hay does it successfully for large groups--that is an accomplishment! OMG, their food is exquisite. They have catered parties for my work place, and people go just to eat the food from Chez Hay (and no one wants to go to work parties!) AND every year, people at work ask for Chez Hay to cater the parties again and again. If you have a difficult business meeting and want to coax people to your point of view, feed them Chez Hay. If you want to give a party and have people rave about the food a year from now, get Chez Hay. My mouth waters just writing about it.

PROS: Exquisite gourmet food and professional service. Memorable.
