My dog just loves to come into this wonderful grooming salon... I have been looking for a great groomer to handstrip my 3 years old Norfolk terrier and after a long unsuccessful search... i asked around to find that the best groomer known is Jennifer from Woof Grooming. Jennifer did an amazing job on my little guy. She spent almost 20 minutes to explain to me about the process, and showed me her techniques on handstrip. She was very patient and knowledgeable! It is very hard to find an experienced groomer who knows handstrip. I finally found a great one!

I have taken my poodles here a couple of times, and each time, they come back looking beautiful, even though I am terrible with brushing them and they sometimes have knots that are quite bad.

A few times, they had to cut them shorter than I requested because of the knots, but they called me and asked me if that was OK. Of course, it was fine with me.

Found this place because I took them to Doggie Style once, and BOTH of my poodles had cuts under their arms (and after talking to some other dog owners, it seems pretty common). i was looking for a new place, and luckily for me (and my poodles), I found Pooch's Choice.

Also, both of my poodles seem to love going to the groomers when I take them there. They always come back looking pretty, smelling nice, and happy with their new haircuts.

Pros: reasonable price, great grooming, dogs like it

Cons: no one answers the phones, but they get back to you

My 65 lb goldendoodle loves going to Pooches Choice. We've been there three times now. Grooming atheletic standard goldendoodles is a challenge it seems for most groomers. The first time my dog had to be shaved down - after a long winter of playing in the snow, salt, dog park, she was pretty matted. She looked beautiful and ready for spring - they left her tail and pretty face with a small flat poof... since then, they've done a beautiful job of keeping her short, but still keeping the puffy teddy bear look of a doodle. She looks beautiful but in keeping with her active life, her crazy coat is kept in check.

They are a busy groomer, but I do receive call backs in a reasonable time and they are usually able to accomodate us within the week I call. I recommend this groomer.

Sorry, I am using this space to respond the previous review.
This is Alex, I clearly remember this lovely Yorkiepoo, Honey. Honey was badly matted, legs, ears and tail. I called the owner and explained to her it was not fair for Honey to take such heavy dematting in a short time, and I told her she can pick her up to demat her at home and come back to get her groomed, or we have to cut off the mats. She agreed to cut off the mats. There were big mat at tail area. Tail is very sensitive area. We had no choice to cut it off. We did what the owner agreed, we did the best for Honey, and we had no choice to cut off the big mat.
I understand the owner. Everybody wants his/her dogs look the best all the time. For matted dogs, we only have limited choices. We did our best to communicate with the owner, and recommended all the choices she had. We did what she agreed to. Unfortunately she was not happy about the result.

I had taken my yorkiepoo to Pooch's for sometime and never had a problem until had verbal disagreement with Alex desk receptionist about what was to be done to my furry baby as I affectionately calls her. I specifically told Alex when dropped by baby off not to cut ears or tail just trim and repeatedly said over the telephone when he called to discuss that she needed to be cut more on body. I finally agreed because at this point was tired of the back and forth badgering was receiving. When I picked up my baby immediately noticed ears were half the length from when i dropped her off. Didn't noticed until i got home that her tail had been butchered so badly. It looked as if someone had lift up hair in center of tail and chopped it off leaving longer strands on both sides with the very tip of tail chopped off as well. It's a MESS...this was done on 7/02/09 had planned on contacting Pooch's Choice after holiday to vent my anger and ask why would people who career is the up keep and supposedly love of dogs would do just a malicious thing...I decided best course would be to tell all and show proof which is pictures of my furry baby...needless to say we will not be returning

I've used Pooch's Choice for several years and I am finally writing a review for this establishment because too often people don't go the extra blocks for those who have done it for them. It's easy to be motivated to write a negative review but when things go well, or even better than you had expected we take those experiences for granted. So, thank you Pooch's Choice for taking excellent care of my dog Bella who recently lost her little buddy and was having a difficult time adjusting. Jennifer & Alex, whether with just bathing, partial grooming or full grooming for these past few months, has always gone the extra mile for us and we are very grateful. You truly do care about what you do and it shows through to your clients, our extended family members and dear pet. Bella loves everyone there and loves being at your facilitiy - sometimes it makes me a little jealous - definitely a tell tail sign that she's having a great time. She is almost back to her old self and for that we thank you!

When looking for a groomer, the MOST important factor is how they treat your pet. I hear over and over from my friends, that their groomer makes their pet look great, but they feel as though they are mistreated. Jennifer and Alex at the Pooch's Choice, are kind and attentive to my dogs. They are always offering suggestions to help with pet related issues and my dogs are not scared to go to them. I know it can be a frustrating job with all the different dog personalities, but I trust that they are gentle and loving to them when I leave them.

I've been taking my bichon frise here since they opened. Over the years, I have sometimes had to bring my dog in in suboptimal shape - recovering from a hotspot area that was shaved, recovering from an encounter with two Staffordshires that left her with a shaved front leg and ear after stitches, you name it. They are always sensitive to her problems, and she always comes out happy and looking great. I love that they can do everything from show cuts when Emma's healthy to puppy cuts when I'm concerned about hot weather or when, because of injuries/health issues as noted above, I want to be conservative. They're happy to do either. Of course, by now I trust them so much, I don't even have to decide which to do - I can just say "do whatever you think is best" and I'm always happy with the result. And I wouldn't even be getting her groomed after some injuries if it wasn't for that I could trust them so much. So while I've encountered health and injury issues with my dog that have been very stressful, at least one part of her care has been completely easy - the grooming. And Emma always gets compliments in the street as being such a nice looking dog, which I never thought this street foundling, matted when we found her, would be!

Jennifer and Alex have always been the best people to deal with when taking care of my dogs grooming. I have always been extreamly happy with the way they have treated my dog and how well they groomed him to the exact way I had instructed them. It has always been my pleasure to do business with them both. There is no better place to take your dog for grooming in my opinion.

Jennifer competes nationally in grooming competitions. I have a Sealyham Terrier which requires specialized hand stripping. Few groomers can do it well. Jenifer knows how to make a show dog look ready for a show. She is the only one and the best one.

After reading glowing reviews and being misled by the alleged award-winning-groomer fluff, I elected to give this groomer a try. I brought my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in to get a bath and have his ears cleaned and nails trimmed. I also requested that they lightly trim the area between his shoulder blades and under his collar and the pads of his feet, but not to trim anything else. I return and was told, "We decided to give him more of a full groom because he had a lot of hair." First of all, I didn't ask for that. Second of all, they had my contact information to call and ask if, in light of their (anti-breed-specification) opinion, I wanted any trimming done. Third, it is beyond me why they would remove essentially all of the feathering that has taken two and half years to grow on a breed of dog whose feathering you are not supposed to trim EVER. My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel's coat is ruined and will likely take one to two years to fix itself, if it will ever be fixed. I will never return and will tell everyone I know to avoid your business. In the meantime, you should brush up on your knowledge of breeds and breed-specific trimming. Had this been a show dog, the dog would be disqualified based upon the grooming you did. "Premier dog spa," huh?

From the AKC website (which is basic breed knowledge):

"Coat

Of moderate length, silky, free from curl. Slight wave permissible. Feathering on ears, chest, legs and tail should be long, and the feathering on the feet is a feature of the breed. No trimming of the dog is permitted. Specimens where the coat has been altered by trimming, clipping, or by artificial means shall be so severly penalized as to be effectively eliminated from competition. Hair growing between the pads on the underside of the feet may be trimmed."

Words cannot express how angry I am.

A decent groomer, however difficult to get a hold of on the phone. Scheduled an appointment, tried to confirm appointment only to show up and be told they are too busy to cut my dogs hair. I guess when your popular you can get away with being unprofessional.

Also, they do not allow you be present during cut. I would be concerned how they treat your dog.

Be warned.

After horrible experiences at other places I am happy that we have found a groomer we are sticking with! Everytime I come in here with my dog I am greeted with someone who truly loves animals. They are so wonderful with my goldendoodle. Their management is superb, always ready for my dog when I bring her in and they call me in the window when they say she will be done. The one time they were running 20 behind schedule they called me to tell me so. They always cut her the exact way I want and on the occassions where she was really matted they called me and explained they would need to go shorter. I really appreciate their customer service and love for animals. I am never worried about my dog when I leave her in their hands.

I have had the pleasure of knowing and dealing with Alex and Jennifer for more than 10 years. Their professionalism and ethical standards have always been of the highest standards as well as their loyalty to their customers. They continuously strive to maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction. Their concern for their customers and their pets is only surpassed by their attention to detail. As in any business venture it is impossible to have 100% customer satisfaction but Alex and Jennifer have set this as their most important goal. When ever I am in the area my three dogs go to woof woof for their grooming needs. I encourage all dog owners to take their pets to woof woof and see for themselves the degree of satisfaction that they will receive.

I recently had surgery and have not been able to do all the things I want. I wanted to get my Maggie groomed for the holidays but wasn?t sure I could make the trip to the shop, Alex volunteered to pick up Maggie and bring her home after her shampoo and grooming. Jennifer did a wonderful job and I cannot thank them enough for helping me. Maggie smells great and looks adorable. Thanks for a great Christmas present!

My puppy is my child and this is the exact treatment he deserves. They know terriers!!! I have a cairn terrier that needs stripping and they did a gorgeous job!! My dog LOVES going there. He is so happy to see the staff. I feel really good about leaving him there. I don't leave him with anyone ever, he even goes on vacation with me. So that will tell you how much confidence I have in them. The place is beautiful and the staff is great and friendly. A real treat for both me and my dog. Highly recommend if you feel only the best for your furry family member. Did I mention reasonably priced too.

PROS: knowledgeable, professional, friendly, affordable

My puppy is my child and this is the exact treatment he deserves. They know terriers!!! I have a cairn terrier that needs stripping and they did a gorgeous job!! My dog LOVES going there. This is in review on Pooch's Choice Pet Grooming near 23rd and Walnut streets. They offer no-hassle pet grooming service where you can simply drop your pet off while they wash/groom your pet. My roommate's cocker spaniel suffered from matted hair along his ears and head, but this was no problem... they shaved the hair off. He came back sparkling and happy, so they definitely took good care of him while he was there.

Price was $45, which included nail cutting, bathing, hair cut, and hair de-matting (if able). It took about 5 hours or so for them to complete. They are somewhat busy so you must make an appointment in advance (typically, 4-7 days before).

PROS: no-hassle pet grooming
CONS: none!

Woof Woof is a wonderful surprise for your little friend! I brought my sister and her Lhasa Apso, and they both had a great time. The service was wonderful and the products the staff used were both top notch. I'd highly recommend it to any one or any dog! It's the best!

Woof Woof! is a really nice dog spa. If you like to pamper your dog, I suggest taking him to Woof Woof! They offer a bath and shampoo service, haircuts, pedicures, skin care, ear cleaning, and full or partial grooming. They also have dog walking and dog sitting services. If you arent available to walk your dog or check on your dog, they will come to you house to walk him for you or take him out and play with him during the day. They also sell a line of natural shampoos and accessories.
