UNSANITARY CONDITIONS

by Adrienne H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 3,232

This place is disgusting. I've been to other BBQ's and they have been great but this one was HORRIBLE! It took us forever to get our food. When it FINALLY came, it was cold! If that wasn't bad enough, we saw a roach crawling around and the bathroom was gross! Don't ever go to this one.. The one on Livingston St. in Brooklyn is pretty good..and the one near Hunter College.

Texas sized food in NY

by Tracy D. | insider Insider | Rank: 18,588

I went here for a party with 10-15 friends. There are 2 floors of seating, so there is plenty of room. Chicken and ribs are tasty and moist. The best part is that most of the dinners are close to $10. Serving sizes are generous. Even the drinks are a generous size. The glasses are humongous. The best dish to get is the chicken and rib dinner so you get to sample both. There are also bbq shrimp.

A Great Place For Food and Drink!

by Rolonda M. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,727

Not only is this a great place to eat, but there drinks are great too. The food is, good tasting, and affordable and they give you large portions. The decor is fun, it can be a little loud during the weekends. I say weekdays are the best for a lighter crowd. Tthe service is good and the people are friendly.

Very good food

by Renae E. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,871

Great meals for the money, but the waiters and waitresses--while they bring your meal out what seems to be almost instantaneously--are overworked, and leave you hanging when all you need is a soda refill. All the tables are also uncomfortably small and close together. Fun place to go with great food.

good cheap soul food

by Diana C. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,213

a great place to eat if you are looking for good cheap comfort food. The food comes out fast too, and they also give a large porportion. not really a place for romance, but definitely a place to dine with friends.

Nice atmosphere, Reasonable Prices & Good food

by CSMobileUser2

I have been to almost every BBQs in the city and I think the one on 23rd st has by far the best service and the food is reasonably good for such low prices. I've never had a problem with the place. You get what you pay for and a little more. Servers are great here and they make sure you are satisfied, even tried take out and that was great. This place is a good spot for casual dining, if you want fancy or romantic this is not it but a great place non the least.

What happened?

by smiley_in_nyc

I used to go to Dallas BBQs around the city all the time a couple of years ago but something changed for the worse.... The past 2 times that I've been there, the food quality has been awful. They either over-cook or under-cook what you order and when it's busy, they'll have you waiting forever for your meal. The only thing worth going for is their frozen drinks (as I can see I'm not the first to say - below). I used to love place but I will never eat here again!!!

Pros: Great frozen drinks (especially when they give you the free shot!)

Cons: Bad quality food, bad service, food not worth the prices

ONLY GOOD FOR THEIR PINA COLADA'S, THE FOOD HERE IS HORRIBLE!!!

by rebel1978

The most recent reviewers are correct.......the food here is poor! I went there yesterday with my gf and I ordered the 1/4 chicken meal, she ordered a cheeseburger (which is far overpriced). When the chicken arrived, it was 95% fat with hardly any meat on it whatsoever!! My gf's cheeseburger (which she asked to be WELL-DONE) arrived pink and bloody! When we called the Non-American waiter over, he tried to argue that the meat was fine on the burger!! Can you believe that?? I explained to him that a bloody burger is NOT considered well done in this country. He did reluctantly bring it back and brought a better cooked burger (still not well done) 15 minutes later. I would NEVER EVER eat here again or waste my money at any of the Dallas BBQ chains and do NOT recommend them for their food. However, they DO have the best Pina Coladas and frozen alcoholic drinks I've ever had. So Dallas BBQ is perfect for a pina colada stop, but not for eating. If you want REAL good southern BBQ, go to Brother Jimmy's!!! I'm sure reviews on here will proove that.

Pros: EXCELLENT PINA COLADAS AND FROZEN DRINKS

Cons: DISGUSTING FOOD!!

Delicate subject

by longbeachgirl

Okay . . . last night my girlfriend from out of town and I went here for a late night snack. We were the only caucasion people there and when we went to sit at the bar, there were seats available except shopping packages on the seats, one package containing toilet paper to be specific. Anyway, we were told matter-of-factly that those packages were not to be removed as one lady was "waiting for her take out." It was made very clear that we were not welcome. Funny, if the shoe were on the other foot . . . .

Mediocre to bad food, Horrible Service

by series1999

The food is inconsistent; the burgers are good when cooked properly (a 50/50 proposition); the chicken is really dry and the ribs aren't even the best in a 3-block radius... Their in-restaurant service is slow (30 minutes from arrival until served with entrees), their delivery is VERY slow (usually an hour, even for nearby locations, and they often forget items)... Their managers generally act as if they don't care about their customers... Beware their online service (which operates using faxes that are often ignored). This review applies to the 23rd St. and 42nd St. locations.

Pros: Decent burgers when cooked properly

Cons: Consistently slow and typically rude service, botched deliver\ies

Texas Style Portions

by b00pi3flak3s

Eat here and get fat, Texas Style. Its fun to eat here without inhibitions and the greasy big FAT portions make people line up at this joint. Try their margaritas and chicken specials. The Texas honey wings are enormous, probably 12 birds were sacrificed for the size of this plate as its ia meal in itself.

Pros: Portions, Food, Fast Delivery

Cons: Service (Sometimes), Food, Crowded
