My friends and I had went this past Saturday and had such a fun time! The lounge has such a great vibe and is very trendy.

The specialty drinks were so good, especially the peach tea martini.

Our server was so nice and very attentive. She checked on us several times and we really received great service.

I had beef sliders and crab cakes for dinner, and would recommend them to everyone.

We really enjoyed our evening and will definitely be going back soon.

Firstly, the floor was sticky; one had to make an effort to pick up one??s feet or else it stuck to the floor. Service was at SNAIL??S PACE, though there were only 4 or 5 other customers. Our main dish came before the appetizer, which seemed lost but was discovered sitting on the bar counter. The bartender actually said, Let me go find it. He took the orders and every time he walked away it took him a good 15 minutes to return. When ordering food, he encouraged us to have the Southern Platter. When asked if the dish had anything fried, he seemed puzzled, like ??What??s fried?? but finally said no, nothing was fried. Except for the quesadilla, EVERYTHING WAS HARD FRIED!! Food seemed to be from Costco! When we asked for the tiramisu, one of two desserts offered, the bartender had to walk away AGAIN to check whether any desserts were available at all. I wondered why they even bothered to OPEN. As a restaurant visit ?? it was a disaster!

I was there with my husband ?? we??re minorities in our 50??s. I don??t know if the bartender thought we weren??t regular ??lounge? types and had just wandered in and as such didn??t need any attention.

I went to stir yesterday for valentines day. Our waitress Mel was great sweet and maDE sure we needed for nothing. Food was delicous, I initally ordered tuna which i didnt care for (not because of taste but because i had never had it before) So John was great and took my plate with out a question and replaced it with entree of choice.

mel, joe, john and god i cant remember the bartenders name (he made fab drinks hence the reason i cant remember his name) Thanks to all of you my wife and i had the PERFECT VALENTINES DAY!!!

I organized my brother's surprise party at Stir. Alex and his staff did a wonderful job addressing all my needs to make the party a success. All the guests thought Stir was a great venue for the party. It was a pleasure giving an additional tip to all the staff for all the wonderful work they did.. Thumbs UP!!

Went as a large group for a birthday. We had reservations. After a huge hassle when they gave away our table to accommodate another group we were seated. The food was ok, nothing spacial. The $12 for a tiny mixed drink was absurd though. The kicker was when we got our checks (we did separate checks). They automatically added 20% tip, but then listed the tip again on the credit card receipt along with a space for additional tip. So if you weren't paying attention you'd assume the credit card receipt was showing you subtotal (including tax), tip, add together and you get the total. Except the subtotal already included the tip. Very sleazy. Do not recommend, there are much better places to go in the city.

This is what happens when a couple of Jersey yokels make a couple of bucks & open a bar. Terribly corny and B&T all the way. You're better off drinking beer at home.

After a long search for the perfect place to have a birthday party, I stumbled upon Stir. I walked in and was immediately charmed by the non pretentious decor and friendly staff. This staff included Joe, one of the managers of Stir. Joe was genuinely helpful and never tried to sell me on anything. We reserved a nice sized section that comfortably accommodated 40 + guests and purchased two bottles. The bottles were reasonably priced.

We started off the party with food, which was a perfect mixture of party food. It was certainly not your typical bar food.

As the night went on, Joe and his waitstaff made sure we were always taken care of. There was no confusion about tabs or tips; the waitress kindly let everyone pay in cash for each drink.
Stir never became too crowded, the music was consistently good and there was no uptight doorman giving people a hard time at the door. No one had a problem getting in.

Everyone had a great time. This place is perfect to throw parties. Just ask for Joe....

I don't usually write reviews about places but I was at stir last saturday for a birthday party and just have to say that i had a great time! I've gone to a lot of places on the UES but this place was a lot different, and in all the right ways.

Very cool vibe, with a friendly bartender/waitress staff. No issues at the door...and the music was right on! DJ had us dancing the whole night!! Will definitely be back and will look to book my own birthday party there.

Just returned home from this lounge and figured it best to share while the experience was fresh. While our waitress was adequate, there?s little else that to recommend about this tacky little place. The decor was closer to what you?d expect at the local dive bar but without the pool table. You?d think that at least some of the drink price would go towards comfortable seats or a decent DJ, rather than 4 LCD TVs tuned to the Colts/Chargers game and a ?DJ? little better than Z100 but without the selection. On top of that, the first three things we ordered from the menu weren?t available.

There were less than 20 people there on a Saturday night after midnight in New York.

This place is definitely struggling and management doesn?t seem all that motivated to stay in business. Given the abundance of alternatives in the area, this was a definite first time/last time visit.

I don't know what people are talking about! I was invited to a Birthday party on 10/25 it was a Saturday night. When I reached the door I heard the boucer explaining to some people that there was a dress code. Hey I can respect that! When I walked up the boucer he asked for my Id. He looked at it and said are you hear for a party or drinks. I told the him the party that I was there for and he told me were it was inside. When I walk in it was packed. The music was pumping and the scene and the was nice. I went to bar to order a drink and the bartenders were real cool and fast. My boy had a problem with the seating area that he had reserved and the manager was very accommodating. I had a great time and I will go back again. My only complaint is that it was a little warm inside.

I was invited to this bar/lounge for birthday drinks. I live in area so thought I'd give this place a shot since I hadn't heard of it before. I am 100% confident that I will never return again. First off, the 'bouncer' was smoking a blunt and hassled me for wearing sneakers. Granted, I should've checked before hand about the dress code, but I assure you that I was dressed far better than most of the male clientele (I hardly think an untucked button down shirt, jeans, boots, and greased up hair is fashion forward). I managed to get in for a drink and by paying off the bouncer, but man it wasn't worth it. The bartenders don't know how to make good drinks, a waitress made me tip her for a glass of water, and when I went to close out my tab, the bartender had problems finding my credit card. Avoid this place!

nice place for drinks but I thought it was very tacky to add a 20% tip to a bar tab!! I could understand if we had food but for just drinks that is RIDICULOUS!!!!!! I will be sure not to recommend this place anymore when someone asks for a martini bar on the upper east side.

I used to live in the neighborhood where Stir is and I would drop in after work to meet a friend for a martini. They definitely have some unique and yummy martinis here. Some are even served in glasses rimmed with pixi stix candy powder! There are always people meeting up there who are obviously on a blind first date which means there's plenty of fun people watching too. The mandatory coat check is a little pretentious but overall I always had a great time there.

They make many different special martinis here. It is a lot of fun to come with the girls and try all the different drinks. Of course it is expensive. They insist on coat check. You may need a reservation to get a seat. All standard NYC stuff. The drinks are delicious and that is the important part!

Good atmosphere and great place to get girlie drinks, but don't count on real martinis here. Classic gin martini? nah. Manhattan up? nope. sorry, go for the cosmo instead.

We're so glad we found this great bar on the UES! Getting away from the other pubs or the "wannabe" clubby places is so refreshing. From the great drinks (lots of sugar and candy!) to really tasty and well portioned appetizers, Stir is an all around solid package. I brought a 2nd time date here and it was the perfect place. Just crowded enough, but not so much where you're getting pushed around and the music was great - not so loud that you had to shout.

Highly Recommended!

I love this place! I've been through three relationships with this bar and come here for dates, the guys didn't stick around but this great bar did.Great for cozy romantic dates on a weekday, also great for hanging out with your friend on a Saturday night.I love the drinks,it's not one of those watered down, diluted drinks you get at other places, ithits you as soon as you sip it. Cute hot bartenders.Love the margaritas. They even have a little dancefloor if you need to do your thing. Love it. It has the best ambience compared tomost bars on the UES which are more pub-like or sporty, has a cozy loungy trendy feel. Even when I was abusing the owner how terrible NYC men are, he still gave me and my friend a free drink. Hey,can't complain about that. They even let us stay longer than 4am bec I wasn't done dancing.

This is the first time ive written a review on anything. Not that i dont have an opinion...
I was at stir a last weekend and i had a BLAST! I read the other negative reviews and i just had to respond! The only problem with this place was...there was too much fun to be had! The staff was great and very welcoming and even bought us shots. How can that be bad?

I had emailed back and forth with the event coordinator at Stir and made a reservation for 5 people at 9:00 on Saturday night. When we got there at 9:00, the man at the door told us they were hosting a private event until 10:00, and suggested that we go to another nearby bar to wait. I understand that bars and clubs often have private events, but we should have been told about this in advance. We had gone out of our way to the UES specifically to go to Stir where I thought we had a reserved table at 9:00. This was a very disappointing experience.

Last Saturday night, I celebrated my 30th birthday at Stir. From the very first phone call to reserve a table, to closing the bar at 4:30 AM, the staff at Stir was extra-ordinary! Last year's birthday on the UWS, I was yelled at by management, this year, I was welcomed like family. We ate, drank, and danced all night! The bar tender was sweet, quick, and gorgeous! The bouncer was friendly and accomadating, the DJ kept us on our feet, and most of all, the management team was steller...and HOT!!! I've experienced a lot of bad service and pretentious staff in NYC, this was such a breath of fresh air! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Thanks guys!

Went there with my girl for a couple of martini's and some conversation. I'm a former bartender, and probably a bit more picky about what makes a great bartender, but this guy was rude, slow and made a simply horrible grey goose dirty martini. Very disappointed as there is definitely a need for a place like this in the UES, but the service and quality of the drink were bottom of the barrel. Too bad.

The UES has so much more to offer! Stir is a huge disappointment and I will not step foot in there again. I took a friend of mine the other night and the place was dead. Only two other people were in the bar and it was 10pm! The martinis we had were good, but the bartender was rude and took 10 minutes to finally take our order (not sure why- seeing that he wasn?t serving the other 2 people in the place at the time).

When we finally tried to settle the bar tab, the bartender disappeared for a good 5-7 minutes. There was no one working in the bar!? My friend and I could have literally walked out and not paid. (I was a bartender years ago, so I felt obligated to pay the bill and his tip.) Finally the owner comes in and says the bartender had to ?step out to another restaurant he owns? and complained that he was upset that he had to get out of bed to take care of the matter. He never apologized for the wait and proceeded to charge me $26 for the two martinis! RIDICULOUS! Both my friend and I have worked in the service industry and I we both agreed we would never charge patrons full price if they had to wait. THUMBS DOWN!

The drinks are good but overpriced. The lounge itself looks decent and is a nice change from most upper east side pubs. I've gone several times just to hang out with friends and thought it was okay. I went several saturdays ago and noticed that the crowd seemed super trashy.... The music was good.

My boyfriend threw my birthday party here with about 20 of our friends recently. We had bottle service, ordering three bottles of Absolut, which Bobby (the manager) generously gave us for below what it's quoted in the menu. Our friends had a great time, and the waitress was pretty sweet, even though there is a massive gratuity added at the end of the night. She even moved the jacket of this drunk girl who walked over like she owned the place and threw her coat on our couch. My only complaint was that the DJ was quite rude to me---NOT COOL on my birthday! I requested a song and he told me to "Talk to my manager," who was this random dude (probably a friend) hanging out in the booth. He was also not so cool. Excuse me, this is the UPPER EASTSIDE, I don't need to talk to your manager. Also, the music is so-so...They play popular stuff you can dance to, but if you ask for some hip-hop classics of say, the early 2000s, they won't have it. Overall though, a good experience for my b-day.

I don't know why I see people have said that this place should be avoided. I mean I went down on Friday during their happy hour and danced with some very attractive ladies to the sounds of some DJ named Prez. That guy really knew what he was doing. He played a great mix of Hip Hop (yes Hip Hop), Rap, R&B, reggae... I mean this guy even gave us a little Daft Punk and Dirty Vegas. Unfortunately he told me he gets off at 10pm and things were really the same with the other DJ but overall I had a good time. I mean the staff is down to earth and I tell you men out there...the waitresses will make you just want to give up your money. lol

Since I had such a good time on Friday I decided to check out there Saturdays. I was greated by the same cool bouncer from Friday and he gave me the heads up that the costume party going on inside is ridiculous. I went in and there were tons of attractive chicks around and the DJ (at the end of the night he told me his name was Pause) was also doing his thing. These guys at Stir know what they're doing when it comes to the DJ selection. The only problem I had was the sound system wasn't loud enough for me. I mean I am not trying to scare anyone away but it was at a level that was loud enough to dance to but low enough to talk to your date or partner. This is definitely a hot spot that has that Downtown feel but since it's on the UES it has the obvious chic feel. It was definitely an enjoyable experience and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Pros: Great DJs during the happy hour on Friday and Saturdays; Good looking people; No admission

Cons: DJ wasn't all that after 10pm on Friday; Sound system could be a little louder; Needs more people dancing since a good amount just takes in the ambiance

What a hidden gem on the Upper Eastside. Great selection of Martinis and tapas as well as a very friendly staff. I get the feeling that there are a lot of regulars that go to Stir because everytime someone walks through the door they are greeted with open arms like they are family. Really like the decor and the music is an added enticement. I look forward to spending more time here.

My friends & I went there for my 25th bday & to reserve a table you have to put down a credit card. During our time there, our newbie waitress came over with a stack off CCs & asked me which was my friends. I showed her & pointed to it. Later when paying the bill - in cash - the waitress says, "Oopps, I gave your card to someone else." This was despite be shown & told which was the correct CC. Management offered to pay HALF the bill - HELLO! you gave my friends CC away to some random person. They took care of the whole bill. IF you go, DONT give a credit card! BUYER BEWARE!

I took a date to STIR last weekend and it was fabulous. The service and music was great and you can actually have a conversation. The drinks were amazing and the crowd was very well dressed and friendly. It is sure a nice alternative to the meat packing district.

Stir is a great place for an after dinner drink, a place to take a date, or a night out with your friends. Great drink specials, fabulous music, and a hip Upper East Side atmosphere. The service is friendly and typically fast, with typical New York City bar prices to match. Stir specializes in martinis, with a whole list to choose from ranging from fruity and light to dirty dirty dirty!

Who knew that a real chic type lounge still existed on the UES. I was invited to a birthday party on a Saturday and we were able to sit at a table and order a bottle much less than what we pay downtown. Even though our table and area was tight and it got hot inside, it didn't matter because the place was packed and the music was great. I will be back when I go to the UES!

I decided to give Stir a try for an afterwork cocktail with a friend. The pictures of the sultry decor lured me. The seating is very comfortable and over all the lounge gives of a sleek, relaxed vibe. I would hate to come there though when it's packed and have to stand because the banquettes look very inviting. Their drink menu is very colorful and the service is very friendly. I believe Lizz was our bartender and was very polite

Service was great. Everything else was horrible. Drinks were overpriced. A little plastic cup of Tanqueray and tonic was $8, a shot from a little medicine cup was $10. Need I say more. Clientele seemed to be the post-college crowd. Wants to be posh but it is just not happening. The only two things this place has going for it is the service and the music.
Other than that, I would suggest to stay away.

Like most of the reviewers have said, this place is great and the staff was hella friendly. A cute blonde girl was our waitress for the nite and she went beyond the call of duty to make sure everyone in our group was taken care of. Definitely would go again!

This place is gorgeous! The decor is perfect, the food is awesome, and the drinks - well, you just have to try one of their pixie-stick rimmed martinis! Stir is a welcome addition to the Upper East Side and has quickly become a neighborhood favorite. I definitely recommend it!

It's about time that there's a classy bar on the upper East side that is perfect for people in their mid-late twenties and up. You will NOT find immature cocky guys with spikey hair and giant gold chains or ditzy peroxide blondes wearing "Angel" tee shirts and platform shoes. What you WILL find are good-looking friendly people with class and style, very attentive and kind bartenders, and a very nice bar menu. When I ordered a Grey Goose on the rocks and it cost $11, I thought, 'go figure, it's manhattan', but then I looked down at my glass and saw that it was at least four shots! On top of that, when I took a sip, it actually WAS Grey Goose. (As some of you know, some places put Absolut in a Grey Goose bottle) I highly recommend this place and will definately go back next weekend.

The martini's are so good, you may end up having too many. Women should be especially careful of the "Mojo" martini as it's extraordinary flavor belies that it's truly an undergarment peeler!
For true dirty martini aficionados, the "XXX" is about as good as it gets.
To help absorb the generous alcohol, I recommend the quesadillas

I had a really great time at "Stir" the other night. It has a relaxed, romantic mood--full of candles and plush couches that sit high on elevated areas on both the left and right side, so that you don't get stuck looking at someone's butt cheek's all night and can actually survey some of the action on the main floor area. Both my martini and a friend's kebabs were really good. The staff was very friendly and attractive. The music (mostly sort of sleepy, jazzy electronic music) was at a reasonable volume, so we could talk. I would recommend it as a good place to take a date...at least on a week night. I hear that it gets far more crowded on weekends. I will definitely be returning.

WE HAD A GREAT TIME... THE ATMOSPHERE IS WHAT YOU LOOK FOR IN A LOUNGE AND THEY REALLY NAIL THE SERVICE. NOT HAVING TO TRAVEL 40 OR 50 BLOCKS TO FIND A PLACE LIKE THIS IS A HUGE BONUS.

I am mixed: It's about time the UES had a quality lounge to go out to, however, Stir has got a lot further to go:

My date and I went there on a Wednesday evening and here are some of my impressions:

Music: Totally inappropriate and too loud so forget about taking a date there if you want any intimacy.

Decor was OK with a nice touch around the entire lounge

Service: there was no waiter service even though they have tables set up. Very silly since we would have ordered a few more drinks

I hope Stir works out its problems and gets serious about running a hip and fun lounge. It would be a great addition to the UES.

For all those people sick of the same scene on the Upper East Side, this place is for you...The martini menu is one of the best I have seen in the city. They have come up with new and exciting ways to spice up their martinis and you can't leave without trying a few of them! The food perfectly complements the martini menu, with it's fun yet sophisticated options. It has a relaxed atmosphere with a great staff. I wasn't sure what to expect when I tried out this place, but it is definitely worth the trip up there.

A refuge from the McSoggy's soaking the UES! No longer do I have to run 25+ blocks away to escape too-many-tv's, sticky floors and woo-hoo-ing overage frat boys elbowing you for their beers-and-shots. The sole TV at STIR airs the original Ocean's 11 instead of ESPN--thank you! If you even ponder having another drink, a server appears at your table. When I asked to substitute my preferred vodka in a martini from the menu the bartender said the words I've been waiting too long to hear: "You can have anything you want!".
I think that last sentiment sums up STIR best!

Stir is just the place my girlfriends and I have been searching for. The staff is incredibly kimd and the food was fantastic (especially the stuffed potatoes). The specialty martinis are overwhelimg simply because you will want to try them all!
Stir is a great spot for a girls night out, a guys night, or even a date. I am just so excited about having such a downtown spot right in the upper east side.
