This was a standard elementary school field trip, but everyone loved it because it brought history to life. It would also be ideal for an educational family trip. It's also located near the Henry Ford Museum for a one-two punch.

I like to go back here every couple of years to see what I may have missed the previous times. It has Thomas Edisons old house and laboratory amongst other things. Several fesitivals and celebrations are held here throughout the year. Highly recommended for young and old alike

PROS: gorgeous landscaping, well maintained, tours available
CONS: expensive to visit too often

This was one of the best family trips we took. We all learned something that day. They have so much to offer and cover so many different areas of American and local history.

Definately a must for any family!!

I wasn't able to see everything Greenfield Village has to offer, but I did visit grounds and saw the many stations. There was a farm house in which a family lived as though they were from a different time. There was a dead chicken in the basement which they were going to eat for dinner.

There were animals, a glass blowing station, a couple craft stations, a train that took visitors around the park, and many other stations that had their own theme/purpose. Several hours went by pretty quickly.

This is a wonderful place to spend the day with your family. It's a great place to take kids because it's fun and educational at the same time. The houses are beautiful and it's fun touring the insides to see how people used to live. The Henry Ford Museum is wonderful too, just make sure to visit it on another day!

Greenfield Village is a really cool place. It's the sort of place a family can go and everyone will be entertained, from the kids to the parents and grandparents. The Village consists of a multitude of homes from America's history and these are the actual homes. For instance, they have the original Heinz factory, the boarding house that Thomas Edison lived in and first wired for electricity, Edison's lab, the Wright brother's bike shop, etc. There are also homes that depict specific periods of time in America.

In addition to homes, there is also a working blacksmith's shop, bakery and print shop. There is a train the travels through the village as well as a steam boat that you can ride, a carousel and an arcade. Each building is staffed with trained and knowledgeable staff that will tell you about the building, it's history, the way things were done at the time, etc. and they are available to answer question. You'll see people practicing their trades in the print making shop, the bakery and other buildings.

There are several restaurants within the village to get food and snacks, or you can pack a picnic lunch. The grounds are kept very clean and everything is done incredibly well. This is really a great place to learn about America's history and have a lot of fun.

This is a wonderful learning trip for the whole family to enjoy! I especially love the walk through village where they don costumes and show you how life was back in the day. They also have the Henry Ford Car Museum and speaciality areas where you can learn interesting things like glass blowing. Prices today are through the roof but it's still a special place to visit and well worth it.

This is the best "museum" I've ever been to- you will want to spend the entire day AND make sure you take the kids! The whole museum consists of actual homes of famous Americans brought from around the country. You can go inside where re-enactors show you how life was lived during the turn of the century. It's all outside so plan for good weather only. They have a Halloween walk for the kids as well as special programs over the holidays that you won't want to miss.

A great to take the entire family. Full of American History and educational.
I am disappointed that it does not change much throughout the year.
They do have special celbrations at holiday times. I have been to the christmas celebration event at night and it is not worth the time.
