The Garden of Eden is one of my favorite NYC groceries. They are a higher class than the regular stores, and have pretty much any specialty item you're looking for. From an olive bar to a dessert counter, and fresh produce and pasta sections, you're all set in here!

Garden of Eden has the best selection of gourmet foods in this area. They have everything from specialty spices and sauces to caviar and meats. The prepared food is mediocre and too expensive. Come here to buy the specialty cooking supplies to make a wonderful meal at home. The produce is also much freshier than the produce at the big stores.

Located near the rich Gramercy Park, this gourmet store provides a satisfying shopping experience. The vegetables and fruits are fresh and of good quality. The fresh breads are delicious, the cheese collection is tempting, and the seafood corner is very popular. They even have very good sushi to go. You'll also find food lines from famous chefs such as Bobby Flay, Emeril, etc.

PROS: Excellent quality food
CONS: Price

We ordered >$240 worth of prepared dishes from here for our Thanksgiving meal. Despite arriving an hour after the agreed-upon pick-up time, our things were not ready. I had to wait 20+ minutes while they got my three little containers together, with no one telling me what was going on. Then when I went to check-out line, I noticed that they had tried to charge me 2X the cost of one of the dishes (they hiked up the per pound price). I had to point out the item in their menu several times before they'd admit they'd made a mistake. Then when we actually ate the food, it was bland bland bland and bland. What a waste of money and all that trouble, too! I used to love shopping here for groceries, but now I am apprehensive. If I come back, I'll remember to stay away from the prepared foods.

PROS: high-end ingredients
CONS: prepared foods, limited choices
