I agree with the previous reviewer. The Coterie Theatre needs to learn how to train their staff. I was yelled at by a young staffer, for taking a picture of my kids, sitting in their chairs. No where did I see posted that you could not take a picture. Then I took a picture before the show started. Needless to say if pictures are not allowed, they need to print that on the ticket stubs, post it clearly on the signs at the Theatre and on their website.

For groups:

I do not recommend the Coterie Theatre for a field trip. The staff is very rude on the phone and in person. They were not willing to work with our group and our problem with not having enough tickets. We took our 2nd graders on a field trip to the Coterie and at our school kids move in and out a lot. The Coterie was not going to give us the group discount for the extra tickets that we needed. They were going to charge us $16.00 per ticket! It's already crazy to pay $6/ticket to sit on the floor. Then, they wouldn't refund us our money because we didn't have enough tickets (even though one lady said that they would).

They were rude to the students and parent volunteers while we were at the show as well. They were constantly on the kids if they touched the stage with their finger, they yelled at one of our teachers for touching the stage when she was trying to handle a situation with a kid in the front row. They got onto parents for having out their cell phones or cameras (the show wasn't starting for another 10 minutes).

Overall, we will not be returning to the Coterie Theater due to the rude staff. The kids had just as much (if not more) fun at the free play place across the road!

The Coterie Theatre is in crown center shoping area, and 99% of the time is showing plays that are for children and/or young adults. Tickets can be expenisive, but they sell yearly tickets, and seating is first come first serve. They don't seat very many, so tickets can sell out quickly if the show seems to be popular. They used to do "winnie the pooh bear" shows in the 1990's

The Coterie Theatre is on the lower level of Crown Center in downtown Kansas City. I have seen quite a few plays here with my kids and I really enjoyed them. This is a good way to get your kids to enjoy different things. The theater has great seating and everyone has a good view. Make sure and check out a performance.
