I stayed at this hotel in Aug 2005. The hotel is squashed in middle of commerical busy street but once you step into the hotel, you forget about everything else. The hotel makes the best out of the tiny space. Each floor only holding about 8 guest rooms. The rooms were great -- again for the typical small NYC space. The beds were fabulous. The provided cookies in the evening and provided their coffee, juice, iced tea, lemonade, and cappuccinos throughout the entire day. The staff members were very helpful and friendly with giving dining recommendations for anywhere in NYC -- not just the area.
The only two downside I had about this hotel is: 1. The breakfast area was not staffed well and many of the items were not replaced when empty and 2. if you would go a couple blocks away, it turned into not the nicest area. However, if you go a couple blocks the other way, you are right by the Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens, Macy's, etc.
