Whomever wrote that negative review of the Taft is a Toad! I've taken guests there from all over the country and all think that it's a jewel - as do I. The special exhibits are Wonderful and the historical aspects of the exhibits are too. Its also Amazing what wonderful food that small kitchen can produce.

I was EXTREMELY disapointed with my visit today.

I've been visiting this museum since I was about 8 years old.
I grew up in Cincinnati, and my family was and is a huge supporter of the local art scene.

My daughter is a very mature 6 year old who has been to some of our countrys best art museums. I'm not bragging, but she is very well behaved, and quite intelligent. Art is something we share.

I decided that I would take her out to see a bit of Cincinnati history today.

While touring the exhibits I began to notice that we were being shadowed by a female security guard. A few moments later I realized that she was intentionally trying to make eye contact with my daughter. (By eye contact I mean that she was staring a 6 year old little girl down.) - Once my wife noticed this our day was over - and quick. Once confronted by my angry wife the lady said that my daughter touched a piece of furniture.

Truthfully I don't know if she did or didn't, but I could think of about 100 other better ways to get my point accross.

It breaks my heart to tell you that my daughter felt responsible for ruining our day.

It is very difficult to pass your love of art and museums on to the next generation if you have to wait until they are 18 to expose them to it.

Today was upsetting.
Today my family lost a pretty decent museum.

My advice to those looking to go to this museum are:
No children. No where is it posted, but trust me.
Parking is difficult.

Just go to the Cincinnati Museum of Art it is 1000X better.

I was not too impressed with the collection, size or location of the Taft Museum. It's pretty much just an old house that used to belong to Taft, now converted into a few rooms where occasionally few nice pieces of art are displayed, it's just another passtime, if there is nothing better to do on the weekend. Expect to deal with a difficult parking situation downtown.

If you are into local history of Cincinnati then this might be of an interest to you. I was more excited about the art exhibits that took place in this mansion that used to belong to Howard Taft. The rooms open for public are very few, but you get a sense of what it was like to live here and can enjoy the small expositions that the museum organizes throughout the year.

The Taft Museum is not nearly as well known or as busy as the Cincinnati Art Musum. There's a reason for that. It is really small. It's located downtown so it isn't very convenient. As far as regular exhibits go, they are pretty lacking. They do get some good traveling exhibits from time to time. As with most museums the staff is quite friendly and helpful.
